Unable to comprehend the best way to organize the sum, Samantha peered into her mother's bedroom. Since Andrea wasn't even keen on giving her a monetary gift, she knew James had severed all ties to the home. She felt anger and resentment towards her mother for the first time because of her actions.

Because she didn't have that much cash on hand, Samantha started walking down the street and contemplating the sum. She tried to get support from everyone she knew, including her friends, family, and acquaintances, but nobody stepped forward since they didn't want to fight with Andrea.

Samantha reached for her neck and took off the gold necklace she wore to honor her mother, the woman who gave birth to her. With tears in her eyes, she kissed the chain and stared at the sky.

"Mother, I need to sell this necklace since I have nowhere else to put it. I apologize for the inconvenience." Samantha told herself, and then she went into the bank and made the deal.

She had no idea what to do when she saw Johnson there. Finally, she wrapped herself in a shawl and went inside the manager's office.

"How stunningly lovely! What if it's not them?" Tommy, a manager in his twenties, pondered the question as he gazed into Samantha's eyes.

Samantha keeps looking back, worried that Johnson may sneak up on her from behind. Her body shook with anxiety, and sweat trickled down her face.

"Madam, does something have your nerves on edge? You can tell me anything; I won't be offended. I'll be available to lend a hand, "Tommy chuckled, and handed her a glass of water.

Samantha stared at the manager with apprehension as she held the gold necklace in front of her, sure that he would soon ask to see her identification.

Even though Tommy knew Samantha was coming to sell the gold, he didn't get why she was so afraid of it.

"Are you worried about your mom and dad?" Tommy asked, meeting Samantha's gaze directly.

Samantha is taken aback by Tommy's query, and her hands begin to shake in fear that he has finally grasped the meaning of her words.

"It's OK. A bank account with us is required if you wish to withdraw the money from selling this gold. What is your possession?" Confused, Tommy asked.

When Johnson met the manager at the door, Samantha nodded to indicate NO and immediately felt nervous.

Tension built into Samantha's body, and she felt tears coming. It clicked for Tommy.

"Unfortunately, I must return to the client now, but I look forward to our next meeting. Bye." After Johnson had left the room, Samantha had been relieved, and Tommy's smile broadened as he turned to gaze at her.

Although he wanted to kiss Samantha's innocent eyes, Tommy restrained himself and told her to take it easy because he would pay a certain sum for her.

Samantha praised God silently as she closed her eyes, feeling a great weight lifted off her shoulders.

Samantha deliberated for a while, then introduced herself as Lilly and asked Tommy for the money, explaining that she needed it immediately.

"It's OK. Here is where you should wait." Tommy replied as he took the jewelry to pay.

Samantha regrets that she couldn't accompany James to his new city.

"I apologize to Sir for injuring him. I don't know how I can look him in the eye now," Samantha questioned, and she began to consider approaches to making contact with him.

Tommy waited a while and then presented Samantha with the sum. Then, staring into her eyes, he pleaded for her to give him her phone number.

Shocking as it is, Samantha eventually comes to terms with Tommy's assistance and decides there's no harm in sharing her phone number with him.

She thanked him for his assistance in a missed call and tucked the money away in her pocketbook.

"It's OK. Bye." Tommy stated as he put out his hand for a shake.

Samantha shook his hand nervously and then exited the bank. She dialed the hospital, informed the receptionist that she would provide the necessary funds for James's care, and then hung up.

The moment Samantha left, Tommy leaped for delight and called his mother, Jersey.

Dreams of Samantha's wide, trusting eyes and quavering hands entered his consciousness.

"Wow! My, what a stunning set of eyes they have! The only place God let her beauty shine was in her eyes. Genuinely bright and innocent, yet perceptive, eyes. They're wonderful, and I especially adore her naiveté. But she had constant fears about something. Guess what it could be!" Tommy questioned, and he walked into the room, pondering about something.

He had a brainwave and decided to look at Samantha's whereabouts through the security cameras. The longer they talked, the more he realized that Samantha was afraid of Johnson for some reason.

"Johnson probably is aware of Lilly. But after seeing Johnson, why does she feel so threatened? Can you think of a possible explanation?" Tommy pondered this in his head as he sat on the chair and thought about Samantha.

On the other hand, Samantha is concerned about James.

She hurried to the hospital and subsequently made her way to the intensive care unit (ICU). As she begged James not to reenter her life, her legs gave out outside the intensive care unit.

Samantha, at a loss for what to do, sat on the chair and contemplated how to locate James.

Inspired, she hid her identity under the shawl and entered the intensive care unit. As she got closer to James, her heart rate quickened and her legs began to shake.

James glanced at her with befuddlement, not knowing who had arrived. While his rational mind is convinced that Samantha visited, his emotional core is adamant that she will never return.

"I am currently occupying the office you vacated. The corporation offered you a final settlement, but you rejected it. Here, take this sum." Samantha told James, and she held on to the cash.
