Chapter 53 - Celebrate With Him

1049 Words
After the ceremony, we both went home to celebrate with our families through video chats. We set up everything before we sat on the sofa and called our parents, in which they answered quickly. The first person we saw was his mother who literally pop the party poppers and was smiling widely! She still don’t change. She still loves to smile and honestly, it’s suits her well. I love her smile... The fact that Alec and her shared the same smile. “Congratulations, Alessio!” She greeted happily. He chuckled. “No need to mention my name, Mama. But thanks...” “I spent time thinking of your name, so shut up.” I let out a giggle. It was not that long enough when my parents joined the room. My mom has a small smile forming on her lips while my dad... As usual, one would never know if he’s happy or angry because he was always emotionless. Kind of annoying but I got used to it. “Congratulations on your achievement, Alec,” mom greeted. “We hope we were there to celebrate with you two.” “Don’t hope, Laura. Let us give them the time, so we could have a grandchild! It has been years since you two got married but still, nothing. Give us a child already, will you?” My cheeks reddened. “Tita... Soon,” I smiled. They were not able to come as there were a serious problem in the company that needs them physically. Although my parents were available, they won’t come for an obvious reason. I still don’t want to see them. Almost seven years yet I didn’t even go home at least once in those years. It’s not like I still hate them. I’m happy that they sort of gave Alex to me. But I hate the reason why... It was him, actually, who cut the leash. I started getting my freedom when I fled and chose to be with him. It was the best, honestly. He made me feel happy. He never even make me cries... He did... But those were tears of joy. The kind of tears I wanted even before. I felt genuinely happy with him. “I’m expecting that soon to be next year,” Tita rolled her eyes, laughing. “Mama... We still don’t have plans to have one. Maybe... After three years, we will. Who knows? We can’t really tell the future.” Alec held my hands. “Is that so...” Tita sounded disappointed. They know I was pregnant. Despite me, having an affair, as they say, while I was about to get engaged with Alec, they have accepted me without judging me because of my past. They never treated me as if I was a trash for cheating. We talked about it. And Alec confirmed that he was in relationship with someone, too. With Sam... I have learned that they broke up the day of our wedding. I felt guilty, but it won’t do nothing to changed the past. We both accepted our fate and honestly, accepting it was one of the best decision we ever made. I’m glad that I ended up with him... “When are you two going back here? It has been seven years... Are you going to stay there for good?” asked his mother again. Alec hands creeps on mine. “Mama, Lia needed to finish her training first. So, maybe after a two or three years, we’ll be there to join you.” I smiled a bit. Now, he’s lying... He wanted to go home so bad. But my situation was holding him back. He knows my main reason why I didn’t want to go home. It was merely because of my parents and the past, yes. However, he does not want to fly without me. I don’t want to be selfish anymore. I could tell how much he misses our home country yet, he can’t just bring himself to go there as he doesn’t want to leave me alone here. Although his parents regularly visited us, but still... Sighing, I held onto his hands tights. I felt his eyes on me but I didn’t say anything to him, or meet his stares. “In a month, Mommy... We’ll be there in a month.” I have made up my mind. I stayed up late last night to think through of my decision as it wasn’t easy. Alec has did everything for me. I think it’s time to at least, return the favor. “Lia...” he called. “In a month! That’s great, Lia. Shall we book a ticket now?” I shook my head politely. “Thanks, Tita... But I’m afraid to reject your kind offer to us.” “Dear, it’s fine... As long as you keep your words, I won’t mind to be rejected.” I pouted. “Mom...” His mother just chuckled. “In a month, Lia. In a month...” Our online celebration with them lasted for an hour. It was filled with laughters because of the puns his mother has. It was almost me and her who gave light to this triumph of Alec. After our call ended, Alec quickly faced me with his knotted forehead. “What was that, Lia?” “What was that?” I acted innocent. “Alec, we’re both tired. We should just sleep now.” I was about to stand up when his hand held my wrist, refraining me. I tucked my hair behind my ear and smiled at him. “Baby...” I sighed deeply. “It was always you who understands me. You guided me through these years. You became the most wanted husband one has ever wished to have... And this time, I wanted to, at least, be the best wife, too.” “Baby, you don’t have to do that...” He held my hands, squishing them both. “You’re uncomfortable at the mention of going home, and now you just made a promised with my mom...” “I need to fulfill it,” I replied. “No... We can just back out, okay? I don’t want to bring uneasiness in you.” “Shh...” I hushed, then leaned my head to his shoulder. I felt him sneaked his hands around my waist. “Let’s go home, Alec... I also miss him. It has been years since I last visited Leighton.”
