Chapter 33 - One Week

1348 Words
It's surprising how fast the days ended. As time passes, I'd grow with Simeon, I have learned to appreciate the time, as it was something we couldn't easily acquire. Days turned to months, and we're both suffering from the longing that I almost gave up. We have thought of ways to see him, but everything was not working. "I tried to sneak on your room," he confessed one time. "But there were guards and even a camera was installed near your room, at the hallway, even near your windows, Lia. I can't take the risk." It was frustrating when I found out about it. I promptly checked and the most possible ways where he could just sneak towards my room like windows were monitored, too. At school, I can't make time to see him. Surprisingly, my parents never forgot to have someone fetched me. The driver was already waiting just the time I went out of school. There were days that I saw Simeon watching me from afar, but sadly, we can't do a thing about it. About Alec... He flew back to the United Kingdom and will be back in a few days. The reason why we were kinda feeling at peace lately because of a fact that we would see each other in a few days after months of being apart. "We just need to make sure you're safe, Lia..." It was my mother's words when I asked her about the installed camera and the added bodyguards. "I can't understand any of these, Mama," I retracted, feeling confused. "There were bodyguards and a lot of cameras around the house which was never there before. And now you're telling me that the reason behind it all was to ensure my safety?" Also, I have noticed their sudden changes in behavior. I thought it was because of work, and the usual stress they get from being greedy, but for some reason, they started to act indifferent which was bothering me. Usually, whenever this happened, they would just keep quiet and let time take their stress away. However, this was out of control and was really disturbing. Today, they both looked calm when I barged in inside my father's office in our house. My father sitting on his throne, while she was on the sofa... And I'm here, standing near the door, bewildered and was feeling stressed because of them. Sighing, I looked at them bravely. "My graduation is approaching, and I plan to leave the house and live independently in college," I said with determination. This was not the right time to say it to them, but I don't see any right time when it comes to my parents. Whenever I got the chance, I would open my mouth. However, what I'm asking was a punch on the moon. Of course, they will probably not agree with me. After all, I don't have the right to plan my life as they wanted to be the ones who shape my future through their grasp in which I didn't ask for. "We'll process your papers to study medicine with Alec abroad, Lia. And the day of your graduation will be your engagement day, too. Have you forgotten about that?" My father suddenly spoke. I froze on my spot. Engagement... That will never happen, Papa. No one will be engaged on the day of my graduation. Nothing and no one can take my hand for marriage but Simeon alone. Honestly, I never take part in their plans for my unwanted engagement, even Alec. We're not interested after all. We let them plan, but we'll assure them that it will never be executed. "I got accepted in M. Hale University, Papa. That's where I want to study, not abroad, or any other institution," I stated, referring to the university where Simeon studies. Even before him, it was my dream to study at that university. The M. Hale University was at the top list of best institutions to study medicine and was recognized internationally. "If you send me abroad, I might as well just switch to another course and forget medicine, Papa..." I threatened before I went out of the office. I went directly to my room and sat on the bed, breathing heavily. My insides were screaming furiously, I wanted to shout and break things my hand could reach but I remain calm and composed. I'll never let my anger take over me, not again, and not now... It was already dark when I received a text from Alec and god... I almost cried in happiness because of his message telling me that he has arrived in the country earlier than expected! Without replying, I called his number which he immediately answered. "Were you serious in your message, Alec?" I tried not o sound eager. "You're really home as of this moment?" Chuckling, he answered, "Yup... Where do you want to meet tomorrow?" "So, we're back to making our families believe that we're together?" I confirmed excitedly. "Yes," he let out a laugh. "Just send me the details. I'll be staying with Sam tonight, don't tell." "Silly, of course! I won't," I assured him. We ended the call and I immediately looked for a place to meet far away from any of our houses. When I found one, I texted Alec and later call Simeon which he quickly answers in two rings. Fixing my hair, I faced the camera showing myself, smiling as his face showed up on the screen. "Hey, baby..." he greeted hoarsely. "Were you sleeping?" "Nope, but was about to when you called," he smiled. I laid on my stomach and stares at him. His beard is growing, even his hair was now lengthy as I asked him not to cut it until we meet. And that would be tomorrow and I'm excited! I can't wait for this night to end! "Alec is back," I giggled. "That means we can see each other tomorrow!” His smile grew more. I could see his eyes smiling that it almost gone! He was happy, and I am, too. We clearly shared the same glee tonight. “I can’t wait, baby...” I said in a low voice, raising my hand to trace his face on the screen with the tip of my fingers. “I will get to hug you again after two months of being away, Simeon. I can’t wait to kiss you...” “I’m feeling the same, love,” he expressed. “The past two months were tough but eventually, all the waiting has an end, baby. And we’ll finally close it tomorrow. It might be that long enough but it’s better than nothing.” “For that...” I fakely coughed. “Alec and I talked that we’ll be gone for a week, so we could spend more time. My study were done online due to some reason, baby. It would be not a big problem, right?” “One week...” he whispered. “I have a place hours away from this city, Lia. We could stay there for the whole week if that’s the case.” “Perfect!” I replied. “I have a lot of plans in mind, Simeon. I wish to turn them into reality.” “Tell me about it,” he demanded which I did. I know one week for us isn’t enough but, as he have said, it’s better than nothing. We may not spend that much time yet eventually, all these waiting game will come to an end, not now, and I’m hoping it to be soonest. “Hmm... So, you want to experience all those things?” I nodded gracefully. “But I know those things will not be done for a week. Considering the time we’ll have, and the place.” “You’ll love my place, baby. It has the best view among others, well... Of course, you’ll be always my best view.” I chuckled at his corniness. “Your mouth is still full of sweet words, eh?” “Figuratively and literally, yes. It never runs out.” Shaking my head, I continued to tell him my plans. It was good to see that he listened at everything I said, and was alert. He asked, and I give answer. Sometimes he express his suggestion which I gladly considered. “See you tomorrow, baby...” I said before our call ended. Laying in bed, I stared at the ceiling, smiling as I think of tomorrow. It will be the best week of my life.
