4. Under Arrest

“You can't." I stopped struggling when I realized that he was enjoying my state.

Arrogant brat.

“Do you think I’ll get scared by your empty threats? Then you’re wrong, Mutt." His nose flared like a dragon in anger, but that didn’t stop me from speaking my mind, at least not after how he just insulted me. “I might be weak, but I know I’m important; otherwise, there is no way you haughty dogs would have suggested this proposal in the first place."

“You speak too much. Aren’t you scared of death?”

"I'm, but I also know Luna Clover will make sure that nothing will happen to me; after all, I’m now her responsibility,” I countered back, masking the pain.

This bastard was tightening his grip with each passing second.

“She can make sure that you won’t end up in my hand, but she can’t save you from my wrath,” he snarled, pushing me away and thankfully letting go of my wrist. “Keep using that tongue of yours more than it requires, and I’ll make sure to make you regret everything that you said."

With that, he dashed away from there instead of giving a tour of the pack. Not that I was even interested in the pack's tour anymore.

I caressed my other wrist as tears rolled down my cheeks. At that time, I masked my pain, but now it was impossible to hide anymore.

Asshole.

I turned around and found an unfamiliar person standing at some distance. Was he eavesdropping?

“Luna Clover appointed me as your guard."

Guard me? In that case, did you see what happened to me and turn a blind eye? That arrogant brat was right. They would just protect me enough to make sure that I wouldn’t die.

“Guide me to my room."

“Hello, good morning, Lady Vane. I’m Beta Heir, Adler Flammia. Luna Clover asked me to give you a tour of the pack." A young man with light brown hair and pale blue eyes greeted me in the morning.

“Good morning, Beta Heir Flammia. Give me some time to get ready before joining you."

“Please take your time."

After an hour, I joined him after having breakfast and getting ready. I apologized for making him wait and asked him to inform me in advance before visiting me so that I wouldn’t end up wasting his time.

“Are you by chance related to Althea Flammia?” I asked, recalling that he shared the same surname.

“Ah. Yes, she is my younger sister,” he admitted. After that, he showed me the main kitchen, drawing room, portrait room, weapon room, jewelry collection room, gardens, Omega quarters, Alpha King’s office, Luna’s office, training hall, music room, gym, and swimming pool.

“I never thought that mutts live so lavishly." I saw him frowning at the choice of my words. “I apologize for calling your kind mutt. I’ll keep in mind not to repeat it."

“Just because we are beasts, that doesn’t mean we live like one. There is also a library in the pack.” With that, our next destination was the library, but as soon as we got close to it, Adler asked me to visit the other day.

The sudden change in his tone and posture made me suspicious. So, instead of hearing his advice, I went ahead and entered the library.

“Ahhh! Hng,” I heard the moan of a woman.

I didn’t need an expert to know what was happening in the library. I turned my heels to leave when I heard something that held me back.

“Zephyr… Zep…" I knew that name as well as voice. Instead of leaving, I followed the sound of moaning, and finally, my eyes landed on Zephyr Ravenwood, who was f*****g Althea Flammia against the pillar.

It was my first time watching something like this in front of my eyes. I couldn’t see Althea’s expression as her back was facing me, but that bastard’s expression looked dead.

“Kiss me, Zephyr."

It was then that Zephyr’s eyes landed on me. He smirked, slamming his lips against her while his eyes were on me.

I smiled and showed him my middle finger before walking away from there.

“Let’s go, Beta Heir Adler. I’m hungry after walking so much.”

"O…okay." It looked like he was in shock. I couldn’t let my guard down in front of him. Who knew he might have planned all this along with his sister?

After all, which brother wouldn’t want his sister as the Luna of the whole werewolf world?

Later in the evening, I learned that the person who was assigned to teach me the Luna duties was none other than Kate Ravenhood Thorne, my sister-in-law.

Without wasting a second, my training started strictly, and since I wasn’t allowed to study, I made sure to learn as much as possible when I was given this opportunity.

Of course, I wasn’t completely illiterate. Thanks to my elder brother, who made sure that I would at least learn how to read and write; otherwise, Mr. Vane had made a foolproof plan to leave me illiterate and an i***t.

Thanks to my busy schedule, I didn’t get a chance to see that asshole’s face, and I was thankful for that.

Though I was invited to have dinner with everyone, I politely declined that offer because I knew no one wanted me there, and I didn’t want to get indigestion either after eating in such a gloomy surroundings.

After a week, I joined Luna Clover in her office, helping her as her junior assistant.

To be honest, I didn’t hate the sudden change in my life. I was allowed to do everything that I had never tried before. Not just that, I was treated like a human among animals when my own family treated me like an animal.

Luna Clover didn’t stop complimenting me, watching how I was learning everything at such a great speed.

But the reality hit me harder when I was under arrest by the warriors the next morning.
