Rejected while pregnant
Alison's pov
“My boyfriend accused me of cheating the moment I told him I was pregnant. “
All my life, I've always believed that love was something you earn. Not the fairytale kind of love and not the one that fell into your lap because fate had finally smiled down at you but the one you bled for because you were an orphaned omega.
The kind of love that you stayed for, believing they will love you back even when it hurt...the kind of love that you worked until your hands were raw and your heart was threadbare.
I grew up in a house where love was something you begged for. My parents died when I was five, and since then I had been nothing more than an omega servant in other people's homes.
I still remember vividly, the night the elders of the pack house brought me to the omega quarters like a piece of unwanted luggage.
Only one quiet whisper was uttered. They were the cold words that would follow me for the rest of my life.
"She is an orphaned omega."
"She’ll only be useful as a servant."
And from that day forward, I grew up watching other people have families while I cleaned their floors and washed their clothes.
So when two pink lines appeared on the pregnancy strip, utter disbelief enveloped me. I slapped my hand across my mouth as my eyes glistened with moisture. "Oh moon goddess, how I've waited for this day to come."
Being an orphan with no siblings, I've always wanted to have someone I'd call my own.
Someone whose tiny heartbeat would make mine pause for a moment.
Someone who would never leave me.
And after three years of several failed attempts, trying to get pregnant by Ryan.
I tested positive.
I wiped the tears off my face with the back of my palm and headed out of the bathroom, eager to break the news to Ryan. My heart thundered as I crossed the threshold that led to his room.
Hopefully, this pregnancy will finally get Ryan to mark and claim me. Hope giggled on my chest.
Ryan had also mentioned to me that I'd get pregnant before he claimed me. He'd said I should test my loyalty by carrying his child.
So, everything revolved around this child, one could only imagine how elated I was to find the two lines.
I got to the front door of Ryan's room and just when I was about to knock, a strange noise from the other side of the door hit me.
My heart stopped for a moment, my body froze as though an invisible force had dumped cold ice down my back.
"No it couldn’t be what I think it is." My delusional self tried to say.
"Ryan can't...Ryan can't do this to me." My voice quivered as the moans kept getting louder and louder.
I wanted to ignore it and dismiss it as nothing like I always did, but the noises...the noise sounded like two men moaning.
My wolf stirred with uneasiness inside me. With all the strength I could muster, I kicked the door open. The smell of cologne mixed with sweat hit my nose like a wave.
The world cracked when I saw Ryan Evans. I would have traded my mother’s most priced possession in exchange for finding Ryan alone in his bedroom, despite the deep groanings and moans that filled my ears and scratched at my brain.
But he wasn’t alone. Ryan Evans was pressed against another man, their bodies, tangled in a way Ryan had never allowed me to experience. His hands were gripping a man like he had always known how to do this...like it was natural for him.
The pregnancy strip slipped through my fingers. Ryan's eyes were rolled into the back of his head as he thrusted...pounding like he was digging for gold. The sound of balls slapping against each other almost made me puke.
I stopped breathing, my knees buckled. I reached for a wall nearby for support, holding myself back from collapsing onto the floor.
Ryan froze mid thrust. He turned slightly to look at me. His eyes were bulging in irritation. There was not the slightest trace of remorse in his eyes.
“For f**k’s sake,” he muttered.
That was it. That was all. Three years of loyalty, begging for affection, for a touch and a mark that never came and all I got was annoyance that I had caught him cheating on me...with a man.
My vision blurred as my wolf howled inside my skull. “Ryan…” my voice broke. “What is this?”
The man under him suddenly got up and scrambled away. He hurriedly grabbed his clothes on his way out, trying to avoid my gaze.
He didn’t matter, in fact none of this mattered except the man I had loved with everything I had.
Ryan sighed, running a hand through his hair like I was an inconvenience he had been meaning to deal with.
“I knew this day would come,” he said flatly.
My chest was constricted by his words. “You...you told me you loved me.”
He let out a snort, humorless laugh. “Do you really believe that?” his words cut deeper than claws.
I staggered forward. “I’m your mate.” I yelled at him.
His eyes darkened with a cold resolve as he stared at me. “I never wanted you,” he said. “I have never loved you. I only tolerated you.”
Something shattered inside me when he let out those words. My wolf whimpered, curling in on itself.
“I did everything for you,” I whispered. “I tried so hard just so you could choose me.”
I watched Ryan reach for the bedside drawer and pull out a folded document, waving it once before tossing it onto the bed. “Then explain this.”
I stared at the paper as if it were written in another language. “Fertility Clinic Report,” I read aloud, my voice trembling. That was the same clinic where the artificial insemination had been performed on me.
My hands shook as I reached for the paper and unfolded it. The papers confirmed that the process was positive and I was indeed pregnant. My heart skipped a beat.
Ryan was already aware that I was pregnant with his child yet he...
The name beside the donor section made my thoughts spiral. My breath left my lungs in a rush. The name beside the donor section wasn’t Ryan Evans.
“What…?” I whispered. “That’s not possible.
You gave them your sperm. You were there…you were there when they took your sample!” I cried.
“You were the one who convinced me to go to the clinic.” I continued, but Ryan’s expression didn’t change.
“You said you were going to be traveling for months on business,” I continued, my voice shaking. “You told me it would be easier if you deposited your sperm so I could try for a baby while you were away.”
The memory flashed vividly in my mind, how
Ryan was standing beside me in the sterile white hallway of the fertility clinic signing the forms.
I remembered him disappearing into the donor room with a small plastic container in his hand.
“You told me to try as many times as I wanted until it worked,” I whispered, my voice failing me.
Ryan scoffed and my hands grew colder.
“That’s your version of the story.” he croaked and my chest tightened painfully.
“But you were there,” I insisted. “You gave them the sample yourself…”
Ryan crossed his arms, his expression hardening. “So you say.”
My head snapped up. “I would never cheat on you.”
He scoffed. “Right. Because you’re such a saint.”
“That child...” my voice cracked. “That child is ours. I did this for us.”
He leaned closer towards me, “You did it behind my back. You got pregnant with another man’s child and expected me to accept it.” His voice was low and viscous.
My ears rang.“That’s not true,” I pleaded. “Ryan, please...”
“Save it!" He barked, putting up a hand in front of me. "You're too easy to fool Allison, and trust me no one will believe this your cramp story"
He said and a dark smirk struck his face.
My chest tightened harder, he had a hand in this??
Before my lips could part to make a sound, his voice came again, uttering the very words I dreaded to hear.
"I reject you.” He said and the words hit like a blade to the chest, his words caused the mate bond to snap, I screamed as I held my chest. Pain exploded through my body, it felt like my soul was being ripped in half, like invisible claws were tearing me apart from the inside. I collapsed to the floor as tears streamed down my face.
Ryan stepped back, unmoved. “It’s over,” he said and turned back to grab his clothes.
”It feels great getting rid of you.” He croaked, causing my wolf to go silent.
*******
I didn’t remember how I had gotten home, the only thing I remembered was running out of Ryan's house.
By the time I reached my small, rented apartment, the sun was already dipping in the sky. Tears continued to streak down my face as I fumbled with my keys.
I stopped when I felt a presence standing at the door.
I turned slightly and saw a figure...not a man!
He was unnaturally tall, his shoulders were broad, he had dark hair and his eyes glowed faintly like embers beneath the fading light.
Power rolled off him in suffocating waves, pressing against my already shattered senses. My wolf that had been silent just moments ago stirred.
Fear gripped my spine, the keys fell from my grip to the ground when he called me by name.
“Alison Jordan,” the man said in a deep and commanding voice. “I’ve been looking for you.”
I swallowed. “Who are you?”
His gaze dropped briefly to her stomach before he replied, “My name is Jordan Storme,” he said. “Alpha of Star Wars Pack.”
My knees nearly gave out. An alpha standing before me?!
“I believe,” he continued calmly, “you are carrying my child.”
