Rex didn't look down. He climbed up the rough ladder inside the old sewage pipe. He was pushing Luna, who was helping Clara climb above her. The air was bad, heavy with cold metal and damp earth. Below them, the tunnel was filled with the noise of a real fight: explosions, the sharp sound of Kilo's crossbow, and Julian's cold, angry shouts. “Faster, Luna!” Rex urged, his own muscles screaming from the strain. “I’m trying!” Luna gasped. Clara was small but very scared, crying quietly. Rex knew Kilo was holding Julian back, but for how long? Kilo had used the Master Override "key" distraction to set up this last, great fight.
