The darkness was immediate and complete. Rex’s ears rang from the sudden stop of the siren and the gunfire. Perfect silence, Rex thought, remembering Julian's lesson. This is when Julian hunts. He quickly switched on the heat scope on his machine gun. The small screen glowed green, making the hallway appear in fuzzy, unreal colors. Luna and Clara, standing right next to him. “Hold my hand, Clara,” Luna whispered. She held Rex's arm tightly. “Where is Kilo?” “She bought us time,” Rex said. He didn't know what was happening to Kilo in the black control room, but he had to believe she knew what she was doing. “We have to use this silence to run.” He looked at the satellite map. The tunnel they were in went straight, then met an old sewage pipe that led up toward the 'X' extraction point.
