Liam rushed to the direction of the television and switched it off alongside other electronics. Liam and Davies ran to their room while Ethan walked towards the pithead. He opened the door and saw Aubrey and Sadie coming towards the pithead. He sauntered towards them and collected Aubrey’s bag. “Welcome, mum; welcome sister Sadie,” Ethan said. “Thank you!” Sadie and Aubrey said. The threesome walked towards the pithead. When they were closer to the door, Aubrey opened the door and the threesome walked into the sitting room. “Everywhere looks cluttered; what happened in our absence?” Aubrey said and sat down on one of the couches. “Nothing, mum,” Ethan said. He dropped the bag on the table and sat close to Aubrey on the couch. Sadie sauntered silently to her room. “Alright, Ethan. Make sure you tidy up the clutter. Besides, where are your brothers?” Aubrey said as she gazed at Ethan’s face. “Davies is writing the script in his room, while Liam is with him. I was with them, but I had to leave there because I was bored,” Ethan said. “Alright; and where is your Dad?” Aubrey said. “He hasn’t come back from work, he should be on his way home now,” Ethan said. “Yes. Take my bag to my room while I start the cooking,” Aubrey said. “Alright, mum…,” Ethan said. He stood up from the couch, clutched the bag from the table and said, “What happened to sister Sadie? She looks sad. I expect her to come back home euphorically.” “Well, nothing big; I am off to the kitchen,” Aubrey said and walked away. Ethan walked to Aubrey’s room clutching the bag. “Hello…, Sadie, open this door!” Aubrey said as she knocked on the door to Sadie’s room. “Hold on mum,” Sadie said. She had been sitting on a couch and thinking before she heard Aubrey’s voice. She walked towards the entrance and opened the door. “What are you doing, Sadie?” Aubrey said as she entered Sadie’s room. “Nothing, mum,” Sadie said. Aubrey and Sadie walked towards the couch and sat down. “Don’t tell me that you've been doing nothing. It’s obvious that you've been reminiscing. My dear, I know you are really hurt about what happened. I know what happened had bruised your heart, but you don’t have to worry. Take off the worries and clamber on. At least, you surmounted your colleagues; that's enough. I was so happy when your name was called as the overall best contestant. Well, I wasn’t surprised because I had already known you would win with the way you displayed on the dais. Sadie, mum is proud of you…,” Aubrey said. Sadie held her mum's left hand and tears rolled down her face. “Are you crying? No, you don’t have to do this. It’s a time of joy; the devil can’t steal our joy,” Aubrey said. “Mum, I have never been honored in the midst of a great crowd of people before. Today, which I got the opportunity, look at what happened. What will I tell my friends?” Sadie said and couldn’t hold the tears. Aubrey used her hand to clean Sadie’s tears and said, “You didn’t win to please any man, so you will just snub your friends. You can’t continue crying, Sadie. Be proud of yourself; at least, your talent is rightly making you the woman I love you become.” “Alright, mum. Well, on a second thought, I should be happy. At least, I was able to displace all the contestants. I didn’t expect that,” Sadie said. “Then, you have to cheer up. It’s the beginning of many wins. Now, l want to see you smile,” Aubrey said. Sadie smiled and cuddled round Aubrey. “Now, Aubrey will be going to the kitchen to cook,” Aubrey said. “Can I assist you, mum?” Sadie said. “No, you should have a nap instead. I will do the cooking today,” Aubrey said. “Thank you, Mum. How would I have lived if you weren’t in my life?” Sadie said. “And I would have been incomplete if I didn’t have a daughter like Sadie. You've been my smile keeper,” Aubrey said and stood up from the couch. “Thank you, mum,” Sadie said. Aubrey walked towards the pithead and exited the room, while Sadie sauntered towards her bed. She lay on the bed and soon slept off. After about 12 minutes, Wesley alighted from his car, he walked towards the pithead and knocked on the door. “Open this door!” Wesley said. Aubrey could hear Wesley’s voice from the kitchen. She left the kitchen for the sitting room. “Welcome, Dr!” Aubrey said as she opened the door. “Thank you; but what kept you so long?” Wesley said and grimaced. “I am sorry, Wesley. I was cooking in the kitchen when I heard your voice,” Aubrey said, and collected the bag Wesley was clutching. “Alright,” Wesley said, and the twosome walked into the sitting room. Wesley sat on a couch and Aubrey sat beside him. “And where are the children?” Aubrey said. “They are in their rooms,” Aubrey said. “In their rooms? You need to teach those boys to cook. Those boys could turn out to be good cooks, nobody knows,” Wesley said. “That’s true; but those boys are not ready to learn anything,” Aubrey said. “Alright, I compromise,” Wesley said. “You look tired; would you mind a cupful of cold water?” Sadie said. “No, I won’t mind; you are a good psychotherapist, you know,” Wesley said. Sadie smiled and stood up. She sauntered towards the refrigerator and carried a rubber bottle. She emptied a little content of this bottle into a cup and returned the bottle to the refrigerator. She walked back to Wesley’s direction and gave him the cup. “Thank you!” Wesley said and sipped a little water. “Should I call the children to keep you company while I go to the kitchen?” Aubrey said as she gazed at Wesley’s face. “Yes,” Wesley said and sipped the water. “Alright,” Aubrey said.
