He was dressed up in a white suit, a tie, a golden wrist watch, a pair of white shoes, a pair of non-recommended eye glasses and he was clutching his briefcase with his right hand. When Professor MacPherson got to the sitting room, he saw Ayla already sitting on one of the couches. Professor MacPherson dropped his briefcase on the table and sat down beside Ayla on the couch. “Good morning, dad,” Ayla said. “Good morning, Ayla; and how was your night?” professor MacPherson said. “It was fine; how about yours, dad?” Ayla said. “It was also fine. Have you brushed your teeth?” professor MacPherson said. “Yes, I have done that, dad,” Ayla said. “That’s good. I received a phone call from Evelyn last night,” professor MacPherson said. “A call? What did Mrs. Evelyn say?” Ayla said curiously. “She said her husband had been discharged from the hospital and they are at home now,” professor MacPherson said. “Wow! Glory be to God! I hope Mr. Mason is fine now?” Ayla said. “I will be going to their house from here to check out things by myself and I hope he is fine,” professor MacPherson said. “He should better be fine. Dad, can I ride in your car to Mrs. Evelyn’s house?” Ayla said. “Sure! It’s your father’s car,” professor MacPherson said, and Ayla smiled. “Thank you, dad,” Ayla said. “You are welcome. I guess you must be hungry by now?” professor MacPherson said. “Dad, it’s just some minutes past 6; I am not hungry,” Ayla said. “Well, you will be hungry soon. Bring my briefcase for me,” professor MacPherson said. “Alright, dad,” Ayla said. Ayla stood up from the couch she was sitting on and moved closer to the table. She carried the briefcase and handed it over to Professor MacPherson. “Thank you, Ayla,” professor MacPherson said as he collected the briefcase from Ayla. Ayla sat close to professor MacPherson on the couch. Professor MacPherson opened the zip of the briefcase and removed some bank notes, he separated 13 USD from the money, put the remaining money back inside the briefcase and closed the zip. “Take this money and buy whatever you love to eat this morning,” professor MacPherson said. “Thank you, dad,” Ayla said as she collected the money. She held the money tightly with her right hand. “Now, let’s go to Mason’s house. Make sure you take care of the house till I come back from work,” professor MacPherson said and stood up from the couch he was sitting on. “Alright, dad,” Ayla said and stood up from the couch too. Father and daughter walked in the direction of the entrance door, Professor MacPherson opened the door and the duo exited the sitting room. They walked to where their car was parked and entered the car. They were both sitting in the front of the car. Professor MacPherson dropped his briefcase on the back seat and started the car. He drove the car gently to Mason’s house. When they reached the front of Mason’s house, professor MacPherson parked the car and the duo alighted from the vehicle. They walked in the direction of the door and Professor Macpherson knocked on the door twice. “Hello! Is anyone at home!” professor MacPherson said as he knocked on the door. “Hold on! I am coming!” Landon said and walked towards the direction of the door. He opened the door and saw father and daughter standing in front. “Good morning, professor MacPherson!” Landon said. “Good morning, Landon. How are you?” professor MacPherson said. “I am fine, sir,” Landon said. Landon closed the door and the trio walked to the sitting room. “Professor MacPherson, you are here again,” Evelyn said with a smile. “Yes, I promised you yesterday that I would come here first thing tomorrow morning and here we are,” professor MacPherson said. “Yes, I can remember you said that,” Evelyn said. Professor MacPherson and Ayla sat on the same couch while Landon sat beside Evelyn on another couch. “Good morning, ma!” Ayla said as she glimpsed at Evelyn. “Morning, Ayla; and how are you?” Evelyn said. “I am fine, ma, as you can see,” Ayla said with a smile. “You are definitely here to say hello to Mason,” Evelyn said. “Yes, Evelyn,” professor MacPherson said. “It’s alright. He is still lying on the bed,” Evelyn said. “I guessed as much. I suggest we come back in the evening,” professor MacPherson said. “No, sir! You don’t have to. Save yourself stress. Landon, go to your father’s room now and tell him that professor MacPherson and his daughter are here to greet him,” Evelyn said as she gazed at Landon who was sitting close to her on the couch. “Alright, mum. Just a minute,” Landon said. He stood up from the couch he was sitting on and walked away. “I hope you have eaten, Ayla?” Evelyn said. “No, ma, but dad has given me money to buy food,” Ayla said. “That’s good,” Evelyn said. “I am running out of time, Mason should come here soon,” professor MacPherson said as he gazed at the wrist watch around his left wrist. “I am sorry, professor MacPherson,” Evelyn said. Mason and Landon sauntered to the sitting room. Mason was putting on his night coat and a pair of slippers. Both father and son walked up to meet the personalities in the sitting room. “Hello, professor MacPherson!” Mason said as he walked to the sitting room. “Morning, sir. How are you now?” professor MacPherson said. “I am fine, sir,” Mason said and shook hands with professor MacPherson. Mason sat on a couch while Landon sat beside Evelyn on the same couch. “Good morning, sir. I have really missed you,” Ayla said as she gazed at the plaster on Mason’s head. “My good daughter, good morning; I have missed you too. How are you?” Mason said. “I am fine, sir,” Ayla said. “That’s good. Professor MacPherson, thank you for all you’ve done; I am very appreciative,” Mason said slowly. “You are welcome, sir. I am running out of time and I need to go now,” professor MacPherson said after he had glimpsed at his wrist watch. “Okay, sir. We will talk better when you come back from work,” Mason said. “Lest I forget, I have something to discuss with you when we meet in the evening,” professor MacPherson said and stood up. “Alright, sir. Ayla, will you stay here with Landon or go home?” Mason said, and Landon grimaced. “I will go home, sir, I need to tidy up the clutter. I may come back here later,” Ayla said as she glimpsed at Landon’s face. “Alright,” Mason said and stood up from the couch he was sitting on. “Ayla, I will bring your lunch for you in the afternoon,” Evelyn said. “Alright, ma,” Ayla said and stood up from the couch. “Let me see you two off,” Mason said.
