Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Tala Hill My gaze was outside the window of a cheap motel room Ridge had rented for us to cure Shaun's wounds. After the incident, we immediately rushed him to the room. We could not take him to the hospital because Chester was certain that they would be asked certain questions. Unlike in a low-class motel like this where people do not care about someone's business. . Shaun was still resting in the room. Ridge went out again while Chester was in front of his laptop, and Tyron probably tailed Mayari. I leaned on the window. I just can't help thinking that two days ago, we were still inside the safe confines of the academy, and now we are inside of a cheap motel with a group of werewolves that I didn't even know. Yes, werewolves. If I hadn't witnessed Shaun's transformation myself, I might not have believed it. As far as I know, a hundred years ago during the war between vampires and werewolves, all of them disappeared. When I asked the three men for an explanation, they said they should wait for Shaun to wake up before they answer my question. They promised to explain everything, including what they really need from my sister. I grabbed my neck, the antimagic item was still there. I told myself that this item was the reason why I was still not trying to get out of here with Mayari. But I knew that was not the only reason. It was because of that talk I had with Shaun. I will honor that talk and won’t leave until they explain what they need from my sister. That was the least thing I could do to repay what Shaun did to protect me. That was at least what I had been telling myself over and over again. I heard a thud beside me. I turned and saw Shaun, leaning the side of his head against the window, arms crossed and facing me. There was a playful smile on his face, a smile that could easily make my heart stop beating. “Hey,” he said in a low voice. “Y-You're awake,” was all I said. The words I wanted to say were stuck inside my mouth. “Are you alright?” I finally managed to ask as he was staring at me, studying my face. I was conscious of my appearance. “Good as new.” Shaun raised his hand and reached for my neck. I was slightly surprised and took a step back. “What are you doing?” I asked, confused and frowning at him. I was about to move away but he grabbed my neck again. “Don’t move,” he commanded. I heard a click then I felt the anti magic item on my neck fell. “I don’t think you need it anymore,” Shaun commented. My eyebrows furrowed. “I thought you did not know how to do that?” “I asked Chester for the key,” he said, showing me a broken key. “What if I run away with Mayari?” I asked. "You wouldn’t do that.” He suddenly held my hand. “I have a lot to explain to you, don't I?” “Then you can start now,” I demanded. “Yes, Ma'am,” he playfully said. “Don't call me that,” I complained, trying to hide my blushing face and looked away. I heard him chuckle. Shaun gathered us all in the small living room, except for Ridge. I was sitting next to Maya again while the three men were sitting opposite us. ”So, you are werewolves,” I started. There was no more arguing this time. I wanted to know what they really wanted from Maya before I decided on what I would do for them. “How is that even possible?” I asked again. I just can't believe it. They were real werewolves. Chester shrugged his shoulders. “And why can’t that be possible?” he asked. “Because all of you disappeared a hundred years ago,” I replied. “Apparently we did not,” Shaun said. “Werewolves still exist in this world, we did not disappear during the war. Most of us just simply found a place where we can live peacefully. Far from vampires, far from humans. A blissful home, you can call it paradise, a fantasyland or whatever you may call it. It's home for us. But no one knows where it is. It took us years and years just to look for clues on where to find that home,” he explained. Hearing that, there was something I did not understand. “If there is such a place, why don't you go with the other werewolves to the place you were talking about?” “We were just pups,” Tyron said as if he had already answered my question. I heard him sighed. “Many more years passed before we found a very important piece of information,” Shaun continued. “There is a way to find this place. A key. It is called the moon goddess. But there is another problem, we have no idea how to find it. There is only one clue, that it gives off the scent of night-blooming flowers.” Shaun turned to Mayari. “You are that key, Maya. You are our moon goddess.” I was stoked with his words. My jaw dropped to the ground. I glanced at Maya. She was also shocked at the news Shaun blurted.
