"FU*K," I screamed out from the backseat of the car. Everyone turned around and looked at me. My beta and best friend Chase had a look of concern on his face when he looked at me. I could feel her pain, and it was awful like she was getting whipped with silver chains. Mates could feel each other's pain, but the thing is I don't have my mate yet, but u can feel your mates pain and emotions no matter if you are marked or how far away u are from one another. I've been feeling it for weeks, but it was only dull like she wasn't of age yet, which is probably why it wasn't so strong now that I think about it. This pain I just felt had me screaming and breaking out in a cold sweat. "Hey, Dean, u gonna be alright. You look like you might puke?" Chase asked me "I don't know, man, it's my mate it feels like she is getting whipped with silver chains in the back!" I told him he knew we could feel our mates pain even before marking, and he gave me a crazy look. "Seriously man that's f****d up." Chase said back to me giving me a look of concern. The pain was getting so bad that I seriously thought I was gonna be sick. "f**k, IM GONNA BE SICK, PULL OVER!" I screamed to the driver. He did as I said, and as soon as the car stopped, I opened the door and vomited my guts up. Whoever was hurting my mate was gonna die a very painful death. I would make sure of that. "Alpha Dean, we need to get going. We are almost there, and we don't want to be late. Plus, u need to clean up before we present u to the New Moon pack." Our driver said to us. "I know that. Thank u, Alex. Let's get going." I said while wiping my mouth off. As we were getting closer, I could almost feel her. Her fear and anger coursing through me, and it had my wolf Silget on edge. "Dean, we must find mate before she shifts." Silget said to me. I didn't need to ask why I knew why, and we were getting closer to her. I couldn't help but wonder if the lunar Eclipse being on this night was a coincidence or not. All I knew was I had to find her once I got to the New Moon pack territory. We were almost there, and the pain from our bond had subsided. There was only a dull ache in my back now. "Bro, you feeling any better? we are almost there, don't want you meeting your mate looking like that." Chase said to me, and I just nodded my head. Once we got into the territory, I knew she was here, and all I wanted to do was jump out of the car and run to her. I had to restrain myself, though, stupid mate ball or whatever the f**k this is supposed to be. I guess if it wasn't for this thing I would have never found her. We walk into the pack house, the Luna and Alpha of New Moon, standing there ready to greet us. "Welcome to New Moon, Alpha Dean, and Beta Chase, we have a room ready for u so u can freshen up for our Mate Ball." the alpha said An omega approached us and said, "Follow me." We followed her to the top floor where all the alphas were located, I kept sniffing the air and could smell her like lavender and sage after rain. All I wanted to do was go running to her, but where would I find her? I'd just follow the scent, but then I felt hands on my shoulders. "Man, you ok? You look really pale, Are you sure you wanna do this?" Chase asked me with concern "She's here, and I'll save her from this awful pack, I'll kill this whole pack over her. You didn't feel it, Chase the pain and hurt it was as if they were whipping her with silver laced chains! I don't care about this dance, but the moment I catch her scent, I'm grabbing her, and we are out of here understand." I tell him matter of factly. I went into the bathroom with my suitcase to change into my dress clothes, a blue button-up shirt, and dress pants. I walked out, and my beta was ready in his red button-up and dress pants. Not to fancy but fancy enough. We walked down to the ballroom, which was just a big dining room without the tables and a stage step up for music. I scanned the room and sniffed the air, but I couldn't smell her in this room just yet. Everyone was piling in, and I caught the scent and followed it with my eyes. She was in the back of the room, having just walked in a simple sequined black dress, and black flats the moment she turned her back on me her curled dark hair moved and I could see the bandage on her back. Just then, the alpha got on the loud speaker. "Welcome to the annual mate ball. You all are more than welcome to mingle, but if u find your mate, u must report to the stage and announce if u reject or keep your mate." he states How awful to put that on blast like that each pack does it differently, but that's awful and looks like this pack is noisy as ever. I looked around the back of the room, and she was leaning on the back wall, eyes closed, as beautiful as ever, but I felt the physical pain in my own back and then I seen the tear silently fall down her cheek my heart. My heart shatters, and I run over to her and wipe the tear away with my thumb. She looks up at me, and I get lost in her sunset eyes. Then she says the most heartbreaking words I never want to hear again. "l am not worth it. All I do is hurt people, I'm not worth your time. Reject me if u must, I know you're an alpha, and you don't need a luna like me. My name is Scarlett Hane. Just go on and get it over with." she said with tears in her eyes, breaking my heart and seeing her so broken. She was trying to step to the side to go to the stage so I could reject her, but I couldn't move. All I wanted to do was kiss her, make her pain go away. "I'm not gonna reject you." I said to her in a low murmur "Then I'll reject you!" she said to me with tears running down her face "You don't mean that at all." I said, closing the distance between us and tilting her face up. The sparks I felt almost made me want to mark her right here in front of all these people. I bent over and pressed our lips together, an audible moan escaping hers and my lips the sparks so strong. Was this normal? Our bond was already so strong, then I felt her pain she fell to her knees I couldn't catch her because of the pain I felt myself, I almost fell to my knees too. "She's no normal she-wolf!" Silget said in my head. I had to get her outside, and quickly, she couldn't shift in here. The pain ripped through her, and she was breaking out in a cold sweat. "Scarlett, I'm here for you. I'm your mate, Dean Dovakin." I said to her, trying to pick her up. "Dean," she whispers, and then pain hits again, and I waste no time and scoop her up and take her outside. People stare at us and whisper, but I just get her outside. I look up, and the lunar Eclipse is just beginning, and it's almost time.
