Chapter 7: Twisted Game

(Maria POV)

I checked my naked back in the mirror, and the wounds were almost healed. I thanked the heavens in my head before wearing my shirt again. I have been waiting for seven days to turn my plan into action. And today will be the day when I will break these shackles and reclaim my freedom. I quickly washed my face and opened the bathroom door. I gathered a few things in the past few days to proceed with my plan, but a few things are still missing, so I have to collect them now.

A breakfast tray was present on the small table in the corner of the room. I headed towards the table, and as usual, it was filled with nutritious fruits, yogurt, pancakes, oatmeal, and many other things. I quickly started eating my food. I wanted to replenish my energy as soon as possible. I filled my stomach to the brim and then covered the tray with the lid.

I heard a knock on my door, and I know who it is. I started recognizing her knocking style in the past few days.

“Come in, Lyra! I have told you several times that you don’t have to knock every single day,” I said, and she just gave me a soft smile before picking up the tray.

“Do you want anything else, Luna?” She asked, and I shook my head with a polite smile.

“No, and I will tell you if I need anything else. Besides, the food was really tasty, and I ate a lot.” Her face lit up after hearing my words.

“You are so polite, Luna. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.” She said, and with this, left the room. I know I can’t do much for her, but at least I can lift her spirits with my words, and that’s exactly what I have been doing for the last few days. I know she didn’t show it on her face, but my praise really made her day. I slowly got up to lock the door of my room, so I could work on my plan.

“Uh huh! Locking the door? Am I interrupting something?” Luca asked in a playful tone, and my cheeks turned red.

“N-nothing! I was just…” I started fidgeting with my fingers to hide my nervousness.

“You what, Princess? I want to know,” He said and stepped towards me. I took a step back, and after a few steps, I was pressed against the wall.

“Y-you are crowding me, Luca,” I said, trying to push him away, but he put his hands on my hands. I can feel his hard abs under my fingertips, and my throat dried.

“What are you doing?” I asked in a breathy tone, and I don’t know why it sounds seductive instead of authoritative.

“Answer my question first, Angel,” He added, and I took a deep breath to gather my courage.

“I was about to change my cl-clothes,” I answered in a calm tone, but still stammered in nervousness.

“Oh! I am sorry,” He said and stepped back. He scratched the back of his neck and gave me a nervous smile.

“I came here to check on you, and I guess I should go now. You can…umm… lock the door now,” He said and fled the room like I was some kind of monster. I laughed at his reaction and then closed the door before locking it. I have never seen a man behaving like this before. I mean, Many men approached me during the years of my service, but all of them were imposing themselves on me and wanted to dominate me in one way or another, but they are different.

I quickly picked up my phone and checked the name of the injection that I had to steal from the doctor’s room present in this house. I know he is residing in this house in case someone needs his help. I quickly changed my clothes and walked towards the doctor’s room. I have seen him coming from the north’s direction, so his room should be in that direction, or I hope so. After checking two wrong doors, I finally entered in the right room.

To my happiness, there was no one present. I quickly locked the door and started searching for the right bottle. It wasn’t that hard because everything was arranged in alphabetical order. I quickly put two bottles in my pocket and unlocked the door. The moment I was about to turn, he was coming straight towards his room.

He furrowed his brows in confusion when he saw me coming out of his room. “What are you doing here, Luna?” He asked in a calm tone.

“I am sorry, Doctor! I was feeling immense pain in my back, and now it has become unbearable, so I came here to find you but the room is empty,” He eyed me with suspicion before nodding in response.

“I can give you a painkiller injection to lessen the pain if your back ache is that bad,” He looked towards me and I quickly pretended like I can’t bear it anymore.

“Please lie here,” He said and walked towards his injection section.

“Well, F*ck! Now he will know about the missing injections and it will not take long for him to put two and two together… Tsk! You are royally f*cked, Maria. He would inform his alphas without missing a beat,” I started kicking myself in my head for coming up with that lame excuse at that critical moment.

“I knew the truth from the start. I was just avoiding it before things turned ugly for you, but I can’t help you anymore.” His words made me freeze in my spot, and my breath got stuck in my chest.

They are wolves and beasts, and I have heard they didn’t show any mercy to their enemies, so now will they kill me the same way or make my fate worse than others? I thought, and my mouth dried with fear.

“W-what do you mean, Doctor?” I asked, and my hands turned freezing cold.
