Tyler’s POV Today I turned 18 and my father had decided to step down. Since I am the only child to Alpha Loren and Luna Kendra I am next in line. I had attended several classes on pack management and how to be the best Alpha I could be. Part of me was overwhelmed and excited but part of me was terrified. My father , Alpha Loren, was the most feared Alpha in the land. He was fair but stern and he ruled with an iron paw. I had heard several war stories about how father go to where he was. I knew he wasn’t pleased to have to step down but he was getting old. I say that as loving as possible. My mom is my fathers second chance mate. His first Luna was killed when he was young, around my age. It was during an rouge attack. Sadly she was with pup to. It devastated my dad causing him to become more powerful. By the time he met my mother, Luna Kendra, he was almost 40 and she was barley 23. Fast forward about five years and I was born. “Ty! Are you up?” I heard my mother call for me. “Yes my!” I yell back as I sat on my bed pulling on my shoes. It was about 10am and the ceremony didn’t start until 4pm but I had promised to go over things with dad. I walked down the hall and knock on fathers office door. “Come in” I heard my fathers gruff voice call out. “Good morning father” I said with a head bow. He nodded and motioned for me to sit down. “Tyler there are a few packs that will be in attendance. Silver Stream Pack, Western Forest Pack and Eastern Sun pack” my father stated and I just nodded. Those where our biggest allies and also strong packs. “Now Tyler I have a no fight contract with Emerald Moon pack. This contract I made sure it would extend to your first year as alpha. You will want to meet with them not long after your ceremony. By not long I mean before the next lunar cycle “ he said and I nodded. Emerald Moon pack was the pack that wanted our territory. They were a ruthless and rather evil pack. Rumors had it that if the alpha had a female pup he would sell them off to another pack to make way for suns. If his “Luna” didn’t give him a son with in two pups he would have them killed. “So who is Alpha of the Emerald Moon pack?” I asked my dad and he sighed. “Alpha Dan is still in charge but there is a rumor that his son James will be taking over soon” he said rubbing the bridge of his nose. I could see the stress all of this was causing him. “Dad when I go for negotiations I will bring you and your beta as well as my beta. We will have warriors on stand by in case anything goes down. I will make sure that the pack is locked down and no one can get our pups “ I say firmly causing my dad to smile. “You are going to be a great alpha son” he said standing up. He walked over and gave me a hug. “Once you become alpha me and Beta Simon will help you for the first few weeks but then we will drop back and let you run it. The elders are always available and should be consulted before treaty’s or wars are started. Know your enemies and know there weaknesses. Alphas like the Emerald moon pack don’t care about mates. They care about their sons to carry on there pack. Kill the father or take the son “ my dad said and my eyes got wide. I had never thought through how much horror you had to endure while being the leader of a pack. - five hours later- My father and I had talked until about two o’clock. My mother came in and told me to go shower and get into my clothes because guests would be arriving anytime now. Fast forward a few hours after that and now I am standing in the kitchen with my mom. She is fussing over my sandy blond hair and tucking my shirt and making sure I look “perfect”. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her a little. Mom has always been the loving Luna and almost polar opposite of my father. My father was always hard on me and told me firmly that I had to do better. Mother was always there supporting me gently and making sure I grew up to have a gently side too. But if you asked me who I feared more at home my mom or my dad I would say my mom. She was loving but if you crossed her, disrespected her or got an attitude what out. My mom went bipolar on your ass. She was very strict about certain things and I have the most respect for her not only as my mother but as my Luna. “Tyler it’s time” an elder gentleman said as he walked into the kitchen. “Luna if you would accompany Alpha and find your seats we will be out shortly” the elder stated. With that the ceremony started. Alpha and Luna, my parents, walked out and talked for a few moments about the pack. Then they talked about me and how I had my training and how I was top in all my classes and that I was ready to step up and become the alpha of Crystal Moon pack. I was then escorted out by the elder and once at the Podium he talked about loyalty, trust, honor, responsibility and faith in the moon goddess for guidance. He then pronounced me Alpha Tyler Greene of the Crystal Moon Pack. Everyone cheered and it was my turn to speak. “Thank you all for coming to my Alpha ceremony. As we have heard from Elder Joe and Alpha Loren, honor loyalty and trust are some of the big things that allow a pack to not only bond but come together as a pack. I am here to make the promise that I will lead and protect you to the best of my ability. To our allies in attendance, I will stand by your side in times of need and I will do my best to provide protection to your packs as well” I said looking out at all the faces staring up at me smiling. I talked for a few more minutes and then let out a howl. It was customary for the alpha to howl at the end of his ceremony. After that everyone else based on rank joined in. With that the after party started. I walk off the stage toward my parents but my best friend and future Beta Lilly grabbed me first. “Tyler I’m so proud of you” he squealed and I chuckled “Alpha Tyler now Lil” I said and she blushed. “Right Alpha” she said bowing her head. I rolled my eyes at her dramatics. My father and her father had agreed to not name her beta until after the first week. She was the only one who had beta blood in her veins. She was smaller but boy could this girl fight. -flash back- “Tyler what are you doing!? Firm stance!” My father yelled as I spared with my best friend Lilly. She might be a girl but this girl has out fought me several times before. While my father yelled at me Lilly sprung and swept me off my feet. I fall hard on my back and she takes the opportunity to jump on top of my and pin me down. “Got you” she chimed as I struggled to try and flip her with no success. Then I saw it my opening. I managed to wiggle my one leg and it gave me just enough... “Hey that’s not fair” Lilly squealed as I flipped her over and now sat on her chest. Just to give you a size comparison between Lilly and I, I am about 200lbs and stand almost 6ft tall. Lilly maybe weights about 120 and is around 5’2, so I am taller and I outweigh her but this girl is smart and uses her surroundings. I found this out as I got smacked in the head with a stick causing me to jump up and her to knock me over again. Finally it was called and Lilly was the winner of that round. I mopped for about four days after that because my father was not happy that a women beat the future alpha of the pack. -end flash back- “So how does it feel to finally be Alpha?” She asked with a sparkle in her eyes. “Amazing Lilly, I can feel the love and strength from this pack more then before. I feel so connected to everyone” I said smiling as I looked around. I just hoped that as I transferred to Alpha no one would try to attack our pack during the first weeks I was leader. I had read about enemies attacking at Alpha ceremonies or even days after when the new alpha was possibly the weakest but I hoped that wouldn’t happen any time soon.
