Broderick's words made Russell's anger vanish at once.
Russell seldom doubted himself, but right at this moment, he was worried, because he wasn't sure Chelsea had heard their conversation.
Russell was in no mood to stay, and he left Broderick's company with a heavy heart.
After seeing Russell off, Broderick returned to the company and saw Bryce walking toward him.
Broderick looked around and said, "Bryce, there's been a change in the female supporting role."
"Come again? I've signed the contract already. Do you have any idea how much the liquidated damages are?" Bryce stared at Broderick as if he had heard some joke.
Broderick pushed Bryce into a conference room.
Broderick closed the door and said, "Yes, of course I do. Someone will pay for it and might even invest more."
"In exchange for what?" Bryce asked with a frown.
"Make Yamilet the female supporting role," Broderick shrugged and said.
"But, she can't do it!" Bryce said loudly.
"My hands are tied. The investor said he would pull out if we didn't agree." Broderick sighed.
"Fine." Bryce was reluctant. However, he was a practical man and knew when he had to compromise.
Thinking of Chelsea's outstanding temperament and great acting skills, Bryce muttered, "What a shame. If it is her, I'm sure that she will be a hit."
"T.H.? The screenwriter?" when Broderick heard Bryce's words, he asked curiously. "Is she that right for the role? What does she look like anyway?"
"See for yourself." Bryce handed the file to Broderick.
Broderick opened the file. It was the contract Bryce had just signed with Chelsea. Between the pages, there was a photo.
Broderick took out the photo. The second he saw the person in the photo, he opened his mouth in shock.
He thought, 'Chelsea is T.H.?
Russell's wife is a famous writer?
In other words, Russell has spent money to snatch his wife's job and give it to Yamilet?
I can't imagine Russell's reaction when he knows the truth.'
After leaving Zephyr Media, Chelsea was so furious that she stamped her foot when she was standing on the roadside.
She thought, 'Russell, you jerk who can't even last for more than a minute!
How dare you say I'm incompetent!'
The more Chelsea thought about Russell's words, the angrier she became. She pulled out her phone and ordered a bunch of Viagra to ship to Russell's office.
'You're welcome, Mr. One-Minute,' Chelsea thought maliciously.
She felt better after this and was planning on visiting Shirley in the afternoon.
Her phone rang when she was about to hail a taxi.
"Dad? What's up?" She didn't expect Nathan to call her at this time.
"Well, I'll have a painting delivered to you and Russell's place later. I bought it at a charity auction. I remember Russell enjoys such a genre."
"Alright," Chelsea replied coldly.
She knew Nathan wanted more.
Nathan continued, "My company is going to have an event, and it'll be better with Russell's presence. I've got some potential partners who are still hesitant about cooperation. With Russell's presence, I think they'll make up their minds."
Chelsea's heart sank. Nathan never cared about her. The only reason he called was that he needed Russell's help.
That was also the reason Russell looked down on her.
Thinking of Shirley, who was still lying in the hospital, Chelsea put up with it and replied, "I got it."
Since she agreed, Nathan asked how she had been doing as if he cared for her, and then hung up the phone.
Chelsea thought for a moment. To prevent Nathan from finding out that she and Russell were going to divorce, she decided to go back to Russell's place for now. She would leave after receiving the painting.
At 7:00 p.m., Chelsea got home and changed her clothes. Then, the doorbell rang.
Chelsea opened the door. Hayley was standing in the doorway. She was Nathan's adopted daughter.
"What took you so long?" Hayley complained. She looked over Chelsea into the living room. "Isn't Russell home?"
"Well, unlike you, he is a busy man," Chelsea said coldly.
Chelsea noticed that Hayley was wearing heavy makeup with a strapless and tight skirt.
It was obvious what Hayley was up to.
"Is it Halloween today? What's the makeup for?" Chelsea sneered and opened the door.
Hayley gritted her teeth and walked in with the painting.
"You may leave the painting here and go." Chelsea sat at the dining table in the living room with a coffee cup in her hand.
"Aren't you going to invite me for a coffee? Or, you want to get rid of me soon, so Russell won't see me?" Hayley said triumphantly.
"I am afraid that he will be frightened by your makeup. I don't want him to think our family all share your vulgar taste," Chelsea said calmly.
Hayley was so angry that she almost tossed the painting to the ground.
Chelsea said, "Let me remind you of something. The painting is a gift from Nathan to Russell. If you break it, I'll simply tell the truth."
"Really? Why would I admit it?" Hayley said through gritted teeth.
"Well, there are cameras in the living room." Chelsea sneered.
Hayley had been taunted by Chelsea from the moment she walked through the door. Now, finally, Hayley couldn't hold it back anymore. She took out her phone and made a call.
After the call was connected, Hayley said in an aggrieved voice, "Dad, I took the painting to their place, but Chelsea wouldn't even let me sit for a while. She's asking me to leave!"
After Hayley finished speaking, Chelsea heard Nathan's angry voice on the other end of the line.
Hayley then handed the phone to Chelsea and said proudly, "Dad wants to talk to you."
"Oh yeah?" Chelsea took the phone with a cold face.
"What's the matter with you? Hayley has tried so hard to please you. Why are you always trying to make things difficult for her?" Nathan's accusatory voice came over the phone.
Chelsea knew he would take Hayley's side, but her heart still ached.
Nathan was her father, but he preferred his adopted daughter.
On the contrary, Shirley, Chelsea's mother, who treated Chelsea the best, was lying unconscious in the hospital.
"I'm not making things difficult for her. She is practically half-n***d, refuses to leave, and insists on waiting for Russell to come back. Do you expect me to turn a blind eye to that?" Chelsea said calmly.
"If Russell likes her, she earns it. You can't blame Hayley for it."
Nathan mocked.
