Connor still hadn’t spoken to her. She didn’t know if she’d make it the weekend without him talking. She understood he was a quiet guy, but this edged toward the ridiculous. He picked up a few pieces of wood and began creating a tower in the fire pit. “Can you point the way to the bathroom?” He dropped the stick in his hand. “I’ll walk you.” A sharp whistle and Max walked beside him. She hurried to catch up. “I can handle going to the bathroom.” He didn’t respond. She paid close attention to the path they took. There was no one in sight.
