(Season 1)
CHAPTER 46
Kalen sat by the window in his study quietly. He kept twirling the glass in his hand absent mindedly. His face was blank, no emotion just the old blank look. He was in his own world, thinking and calculating.
Something that wasn't supposed to happen, happened. He had never lost control of himself before. He always managed to chain it all together. But that night!!! He really did not know what happened to him, but he know he saw Lara.
"What do you want?" He asked the figure behind him pause and sigh.
"You have been ignoring me... I came all the way from tenebrous to see you" phira said sadly. Kalen's expression did not change, neither did he turn to look at her. He remain sitted like a statue, only the glass in his hand was moving.
"I never asked you to come" his voice was flat and direct. "You should leave" phira could not believe he would just say that to her, after waiting for years.
"You... I'm your fiancé. We're getting married soon, can we least get to know each other?" phira's voice shook a little... She was a bit angry that Kalen was not looking at her after all these years. He doesn't consider her as a woman to like.
" it was your choice to be here "his voice plain and simple, fueling her anger and frustration.
" You like Liora... Is that right? "she asked with bitterness. Kalen's expression remained impassive, the glass still twirling in his hand.
"You should leave." His voice was flat, dismissive. No explanation, no justification. Just a simple statement of fact. Phira's presence was unwanted, and he was making that clear. Phira's anger simmered, but she didn't back down.
"You're really something, Kalen. Ignoring me, not even looking at me... What's the point of being engaged if you're just gonna treat me like this?" Her voice took on a sharper edge, "You think Liora's gonna fall for you? She's just a plaything, Kalen. You'll get bored of her like you do with everyone else."Kalen's fingers didn't even falter in their rhythm.
"You're testing my patience, Phira. Leave. Now." The words were ice-cold, devoid of any emotion.
Phira's face twisted in frustration, but Kalen's unyielding indifference only fueled her anger. She took a step forward, her voice rising.
"You think you're so above me, don't you? With your perfect control and your walls? But you're just as broken as the rest of us, Kalen."Kalen's gaze remained fixed out the window, his voice dropping to a low, even tone.
"I've said all I need to. You can see yourself out." The glass in his hand continued its steady twirl, a silent dismissal.
Phira's anger boiled over, and she swept her arm across the room, knocking over a nearby vase. The shatter of glass on the floor was the only sound that broke the silence. Kalen's eyes finally flicked towards her, his gaze cold and detached.
"You've made your point," he said, his voice unruffled. "Now leave."
Phira's chest heaved, her eyes blazing with tears and fury. For a moment, it seemed like she would lash out again, but then her shoulders slumped, and she turned to go. As she reached the door, she spat back.
"You'll regret this, Kalen."The door slammed shut behind her, and Kalen's gaze returned to the window. The glass in his hand was still, his face a mask of indifference. But in the reflection, a faint glade was visible in his eyes...
The glade in Kalen's eyes was fleeting, gone as quickly as it appeared. His expression remained a blank slate, the only movement the slow rise and fall of his chest. He sat there, unmoving, as the silence stretched out like an abyss.
The glass in his hand began to twirl again, the soft scrape of crystal on crystal the only sound. His gaze drifted back to the window, his eyes focusing on some distant point outside.
Lara's face floated into his mind, her smile a gentle whisper of warmth in the cold recesses of his thoughts. Kalen's expression didn't shift, but his grip on the glass tightened, the crystal creaking softly under his pressure.
And then, like a ghost, he vanished from the chair, leaving the glass to spin slowly to a stop on the edge of the desk. The room was empty, the only testament to the confrontation the shattered remains of the vase on the floor.

FLASH BACK....
Flash back....
"No don't go Kalen..... He wants you there, there is a reason why he wants you to be there can't you see it "she yelled in tears. She know for sure he wasn't going to return to her and that breaks her heart more than anything.
" look at me, my love "he said cupping her face gently, so gentle like he was actually scared that any further pressure will break her.
" I can't sit here and let that Monster destroy everything..... I promise to keep you safe. Me hiding like coward will not keep you safe you know that" she sobbed even harder, knowing that she won't be able to change his mind now that he has made up his mind..... She wasn't just scared but terrified.
"I'm scared Kalen, I don't want to lose you.....i love you don't you understand that! Isn't that enough to make you stay ?"she yelled angrily in tears. She was desperate to stop him from going.
" it okay Lara everything will be fine "he said hugging. He has vow to protect her no matter what happens.....he knows what await him out there but he believes if he doesn't end this now it will follow them all their lives. They will never be safe, they will run all their lives and that's not the life he wants for her. He wants her to be safe and happy, he wants a peaceful life for her and he was going to give her just that even if it means giving his life for that.
Kalen's arms tightened around Lara, his voice whispering against her hair.
"I'll always come back to you, I promise." He pulled back, his eyes burning with a quiet intensity. "Trust me, Lara. I have to do this."Lara's face crumbled, her tears flowing like a river.
"You don't understand... I trust you, it's him I'm scared of. He's going to kill you, Kalen." Her voice cracked, her body shaking with sobs. Kalen's expression was resolute, his jaw set in a hard line.
"I'll come back to you, no matter what." He kissed her forehead, his lips lingering for a heartbeat. "I'll always come back."The scene faded, leaving only the echoes of Lara's desperate tears and Kalen's unwavering determination.
As night falls the time Lara dread the most was drawing near and the fact she couldn't stop Kalen from going out to fight the dark lord broke her heart beyond repair. She clung onto him hoping she could buried him or chain him to herself just to stop him from going away from her..... She doesn't want to let him go ever, she doesn't care if he gets mad but she will not willing let him go face dekker the dark lord..... She have seen it. He will die if he goes to dekker and everything thing will be over. She can't let that happen ever.
It pains Kalen to see Lara in this condition, he had tried so many times to make her understand why he had to leave and go to dekker but she wasn't ready to listen...... He understood her fears but he doesn't care if he die taking down dekker. As long as Lara was safe, that was what matters to him. His greatest fear is losing her, he will destroy the world if something were to happen to her...... He was ready to go against the world for her. He had to go and he knows there was no way he could leave with her clinging into him like this, so he had no other choice than to put her to sleep. He raised his hand over her face uttering some silent words and just like that her eyes become heavy.....
"I'm sorry my love.....all this is happening because of me. I'm to be blamed for all this..... I thought of letting you go to keep you safe.... But I can't Lara! This selfish side of me is way stronger than anything I have ever experienced. I can't let you go now, I love you too much for that but what I can do now is to fight and kill all our enemies... I will kill them all.
