CHAPTER FIVE

(SCOTT)

Walking to the kitchen, I was feeling grumpy the situation of things haven’t change, it keeps getting worse, a young girl of eighteen years was taken yesterday in a neighboring clan, every clan leader close by order a search party for her but it was all in vain, I can’t believe they kidn*pped an innocent girl, her parents were devastated and the whole clan was in mourning yesterday, I feel so heart breaking and helpless what if she was one of ours, what will I do will I also be this helpless to my clan members, I’ve ask the enforcer to double the security and for the main time there is going to be a curfew starting from eight to six and every young girl from the age of seventeen to twenty three is to go to the enforcer camp ground for self-defense training, and to top it all my brother have been missing through all this hazard. Sighing I bring out my phone to check on the enforcer guarding the estate.

After checking that everything was fine I went to the kitchen for breakfast.

“Good morning Scott, how was your night, hope you get enough sleep”

I look toward the woman who has been like a mother to me and also my house keeper, Mrs. Allen has been with me for five years ever since her husband death, since none of her children live in the state she chose to stay with the clan instead of moving to their home, the day she came to me for a job I was surprise since she is too old for any physical work so I ask her what she has in mind and I was flabbergasted by her reply.

To her, since I am unmarried I will need someone to take care of me and my brother so she thinks she is qualified to fit that role since she raise five children of her own. I accept her offer and since then she has been my house keeper and mother figure and I pay her handsomely for that.

“Good morning Mrs. Allen, my night was fine and I manage to get a little sleep, thanks.”

“This is your coffee I think you will need it.”

“Thank you, what are we having for breakfast this morning.”

“Toast, bacon and steak.”

“What a good combination, has Maddox return home, I didn’t see him yesterday night, I went to his room but he was not there, he didn’t even pick his phone when I call.”

“No, he has not return maybe he spend the night with his friends.”

“I don’t like him going out anyhow with the crisis going on.”

“You know he can take care of himself, there is no need for you to be worried.”

“Even with that I still don’t like him sleeping out and he’s not anywhere in the estate, spending the night out of the estate is dangerous for now and I want him safe.”

“You worry too much; you know he is twenty-eight years right? Old enough to have a family of his own.”

“I know but he is still my baby brother.”

The sound of heavy booth and the scent of mint let me turn my head in the direction of the sitting room door. Maddox walked in and I take in on his appearance, his hair was unkempt and he has a tired look on his face, this make me sigh.

“Don’t tell me you have a sleep over at a hotel with some nameless girl with what’s going on, am not asking you not to do your thing but always come back home when it’s late at least until the problem going on is solved.”

“Good morning to you too brother and no I don’t have a sleep over with some nameless girl, you won’t believe the kind of night I had, it was the longest night of my existence.”

“I don’t think I want to hear about how you spend your night Maddox.”

“Trust me brother you will want to but am exhausted right now I need a shower and food.”

“Good morning Mrs. Allen.”

“Morning Maddox, where did you spend the night your brother has been worried sick about you.”

“I will tell you all about it once I take a shower.” With that he left for his room, Mrs. Allen look at my face with a smile.

“It must have been a wild night, look at his appearance.”

“I think he need to grow up and stop having meaningless one night stand every day.”

With a smile Mrs. Allen went on to make breakfast while I go through the paperwork I brought with me to the dinning, recently I’ve been working from home that’s what I get for being the CEO of the number one entertainment company in all of America, my company deal with broadcasting, acting, sponsoring new and talented singers, we base on almost anything entertainment and am proud of where I am today.

I have lands and holdings all over the states, some of the houses I turn to vacation homes for clan members who need a place to stay from home, so far I’ve been doing well and am one of the richest eligible bachelor in America.

Maddox walk in and pick up my unfinished coffee, and make himself at home like he hasn’t done something stupid. Mrs. Allen serve our breakfast and sit with us.

“Now I can tell you all about my adventure and night of enlightenment, oh brother don’t give me that look you are going to love what I have to stay, I think I found your mate.”

“I chocked on the toast I just put in my mouth, what did you just say?”

“Exactly what you heard, I found your mate though am not sure which one is yours out of the four and brother, you are in for a battle I don’t think any of them will be easy to get, well except if they think of the bigger picture of not getting killed since being mated is the only way they can stay alive but then again I don’t think any of them will care.”

“What the hell are you talking about? I ask Maddox who was ranting on, “I don’t understand what you are saying”, he then tell me of his encounter with the creature and the females.

“I look toward my brother in surprise, I can’t believe this and you let them leave, alone!”

“I think you skip the part where I told them to come with me and they refuse.”

“Still you should have insisted or teleport them here.”

“You should have met them they are not the type you can force to do anything against their will, and I don’t think I want to have four furious women ready to pounce on me for making decision without telling them, cause brother they will win, they all can fight you should have witnessed it, it was totally astonishing.”

Listening to my brother talk about my mate make me feel proud of her even if we haven’t met yet, I was also troubled, if what Maddox just told me is true then my mate life is in danger so is the future mate of my people, if I screw this up my clan will lose the chance of ever finding their true mate and this kind of failure I can’t withstand I will do anything to keep my mate safe.”

The council meeting has been going on for four hours and we still haven’t come to a conclusion on how to handle the information I got from Maddox, everyone is coming up with various opinion some of which is just so ridiculous I want to leave the council house but I know if there is a chance for my mate and the other females to be safe it’s with the council involvement, some of them are the oldest of our kind and powerful, they have experience dealing with difficult situation like this and their connections with other council head around the world will also be helpful on finding the clues on to how to deal with the creature.

As I focus on their opinion, I hear an elder said the females should be use as bait to draw out the creature then we can attack, but that can be a dangerous move since we don’t know what we are dealing with and how powerful the creature is, if he has been around for centuries who knows what kind of power he has possess.

“I think what we should do for now is to call all that the matter concern,” Reed one of the oldest member of the council said with a frown, “because I don’t think we should proceed with how to handle this situation without all the cursed male leader of each clan present.”

“I agree to that but the problem is how to get in touch with some of them,” Cole explain, “it’s been years since we’ve heard from the griffin some even think they’ve gone extinct.”

The elders of the council that consist of ten different paranormal race all stay quiet and ponder on what Cole just said, because even if we really want to get in touch with the griffin we have no point of contact, they’ve gone silent from the communities for years and no one know of their whereabouts.

Maybe the curse hit them hard than any one of us since their female can’t shift to their human form and this can be very dangerous since this will make them an easy prey for hunters and limit their exposure to the society.”

“And who is going to tell Alexandra about this?” Barry a wolf shifter and also the youngest member of the council asked.

“I think its best if we ask him to come to the council house before telling him anything, he is not a thunder bird for nothing and his temper is quite known around the country,” Justin another council member said.”

“I will give cade a call” I said, “we have been in touch since we solve a case together two years ago.”

“Do you think it will be easy to convince him to come to the council house, since the dragons keep to themselves,” Reed ask with an expectant look.

“If he heard it’s about his mate am sure he will come, dragons cherish their female above all things”, I reply him.

“Alright its finalize then the males should be inform about a meeting here at the council house and we will know what to do next,” Oliver the oldest member at two hundred and twelve years said.

“What of the griffin?” Cole asked, “what are we going to do about them.”

“I think the only thing we can do is ask our hunters to look for them.” Reed said standing up, “this meeting is adjourn till we find them.”
