Mr. James Robertson was saying there was another reason why he wanted Albert to get married to a Lancaster-Phoenix Lancaster.
"Tell me what other selfish reasons you may have," Albert said to his father.
It was a hard pill to swallow, but Mr. James Robertson had to do it.
"We owe the Lancaster's a huge amount of money." Mr. James Robertson revealed it to his son.
How and when? That's the kind of Bewildered face Albert kept after listening to what his father said. It wasn't there in the records for him to see.
"I took it out myself so you won't get worried over it," Mr. James Robertson said as he walked towards a bag in the sitting room there.
"Here, have it." Mr. James Robertson handed over a file to Albert.
Albert could not believe his eyes when he went through it.
"Nine hundred and eighty-nine million dollars?" He was shocked.
"Yes," Mr. James answered him.
"But how?" Albert asked, confused.
"It was during the time I was in charge when our Company was almost bankrupt," Mr. James explained to him.
That still did not convince Albert to get married to Phoenix Lancaster again.
"We can always pay them back, father," Albert said to his father.
"We'll go bankrupt if we do!"
"So you prefer to sell me off into an unhappy marriage?"
Albert could not believe how selfish his father could be. "I can't marry a girl I don't love when there's one with my child out there!"
Albert left his father's presence and went into his room.
The next day was supposed to be the Engagement party of Albert Robertson and Phoenix Lancaster, but Albert never showed up, just as he promised his father. They tried to call him, Mr. James tried but Albert refused to pick up. James Robertson was disgraced and went home bathed in a lot of Shame.
"Let's go," Albert said to Mariana in Chicago. There was where he hauled it.
"You've caused me so much hurt already," Mariana withdrew from him.
"I promise not to ever hurt you again."
Albert just wanted to give Mariana and his son the life they deserved.
"Your father would never let me live in his house."
Mariana expressed her concern but had already taken care of that. He knew that already.
"We won't stay with him, we will be staying at the house I just bought," Albert said to Mariana.
This was able to ease her mind. Mariana spoke to her friend Natasha and she was advised to go with Albert.
"If he's ready to go against his father for you, then you should go with him." That was Natasha's advice to Mariana before she agreed to go.
The mansion Albert bought could not be compared to the one he previously stayed in.
This one wasn't bad too, it was way above average and was luxurious too. Mariana liked it, not that she was a choosy kind of person. Mariana would always appreciate every little thing no matter how small it may seem.
"It's beautiful," Mariana awed at the mansion.
Albert made sure to use some decorations of highly prestigious and sweet scenting flowers which produced great fragrance. That was the kind of thing Mariana liked.
"What's his name?"
"Raymond," Mariana answered. She held the baby out to him:
"Come on, you can have him."
"Really?" Albert asked.
"Yes, he is yours."
Albert was so overjoyed having to hold his son for the first time in his life.
"He is so adorable," He said to Mariana.
"I think he has your eyes," Mariana observed.
"Are my eyes this beautiful?"
Albert asked Mariana. Now he was trying to flirt with her.
"Answer me."
Mariana had gone silent after he asked her that question. She didn't know what to say in response to that.
"Yes," Mariana answered sincerely after refusing to do so for a while.
"Is that why you let me put this Prince into you the other night?"
"Just shut up!" Mariana laughed. It was the first time in two years that she was sincerely happy.
"I always love to see that smile of yours," Albert pulled her closer and kissed her.
"Do you still love me?" Albert whispered into her ears after he dropped Raymond on the sofa, he was sleeping already.
"Please don't ask me that," Mariana begged in a soft and low tone.
"Just tell me," Albert insisted with another whisper into her ears.
"If I didn't I would never have left Chicago with you," Mariana answered him.
Albert kissed her lips and picked her up in the air. *I love you, Mariana."
Albert looked deep into her eyes when he declared his love for her.
"And I love you too," Mariana said in response to Albert.
They had some good moments together just before Raymond woke up.
"I think he needs your attention now," Albert's remark made Mariana laugh.
The next few days that followed were what Albert wished he never missed for the last two years.
They decided to go shopping for their son, Mariana, and Albert together. They ran into Phoenix Lancaster at the mall.
"b***h!" Phoenix cursed at Mariana while charging to attack her.
"You are nothing but a cheap woman!" Phoenix screamed at Mariana as Albert restrained her.
"Stop this!" Albert tried to calm Phoenix but she refused. She kept raining curses and abuses on Mariana.
Phoenix created a big scene at the mall. Mariana was embarrassed by all of Phoenix's harsh remarks.
"Let's go, Mariana."
They had to cancel what they planned to do at the mall that day.
"Who's she?" Mariana asked Albert.
"She's the girl I was supposed to get married to. Our engagement was canceled after I met you again." Nathan explained to her.
Mariana could not stop crying. "I just wish everything would go smoothly for me," she cried even louder with Raymond in her arms.
"You need a glass of water to hydrate yourself," Albert said to her after she stopped crying.
Mariana was sweaty and had lost a reasonable quantity of water by shedding those tears.
Albert didn't even take up to a minute but when he returned, he was shocked by what he saw.
"What?" The glass dropped from his hand and shattered.
