School

We get home and I look at him. “She hadn’t had a chance to show my room to me.” I say.

“Follow me.” He says walking up the stairs and to the right. He stops at a door and motions for me to open it. I open it and it is beautiful. “All your clothes should be hung and put away. Oh and before I forget.” He says taking my left hand in his. I watch as he slides a huge diamond ring on my finger. “It was my father’s mother’s ring.”

“It’s beautiful, everything is.” I say to him.

“Do you drive?” He asks, I nod my head. He pulls out a car key and hands it to me. “The purple Porsche is yours. Just be careful.”

“I will. Thank you so much.” I say.

“Now then bedtime. I have an important meeting in the morning. So I won’t be here when you get up.” He says turning and walking to a door across the hall. I shut my door and change out of my dress then go lay on the bed. I turn on my school alarm and go to sleep. I have a long day tomorrow.

I wake up to my alarm and go shower. Then I go down and eat breakfast, that was set out for me. Then I go to school. Once I get there I go and get my things out of my locker for the first half of the day. As I walk through the halls I overhear a conversation. “Did you hear he is off the market.”

“No what!!!”

“Yes engaged to some no name.” I shake my head and continue to walk. “Listening to other people’s conversations is rude.” The girl says to me.

“Yeah so is talking gossip about people.” I toss back at her. I get to class and sit in my seat. More kids come in but I am looking for one. He comes in and sits next to me.

“Where were you last night? Went to your house but your mom said you weren’t there.” Justin says.

“About that, we have to break up.” I tell him, he looks at me and laughs. “No I am serious.”

“What makes you think you can break up with me? You seem to forget that I own you.”

“I am not a possession you can own.” I tell him as the teacher walks in.

“Hello class, your teacher has been reassigned to another school. I am Mr. Dubois.” I look up at him and sure enough it is Leo’s brother in law. I raise my hand. “Yes Aurora.”

“How many teachers have been reassigned?”

“All of yours and a few others.” Is his reply. “Now we are going to start Shakespeare. The first play we will read is Romeo and Juliet or The Taming Of The Shrew. You pick the one you want to read and start reading.”

“Um we don’t have the books.” Justin says.

“You have your school chrome book right. You can search it in the school library on it. Aurora can I speak to you up here.” I get up and walk to his desk. “Leo said to make sure you break up with your boyfriend.”

“I told him it was over. But he seems to think he owns me.” I tell him. He looks at me.

“Who?” I point to Justin. “I will talk to him after class. Go back to your seat, also you are to read Romeo and Juliet.” I see him typing on his phone. He looks up at me.

“Are you talking with Leo?” I ask quietly. He nods his head. “Ask if I can leave the school.”

He types something into his phone. Then looks at me and asks “why?”

“Because Justin isn’t going to leave me alone until a guy tells him to, and I don’t want to put up with him.” I say. He types his phone again. Then nods his head.

“Walk to the hall with me.” He says standing up. I follow him out. He pulls a credit card out of his pocket. “Leo said to give you this, it is yours to keep and use. Said you can go to mall and shop or just go home.” He leads the way to the office and signs me out. “He wants to know what you are doing.”

“I am going to the mall to get more art stuff. I need my paints that I use and your guys got the wrong paint.” I tell him.

“Just be careful and safe. Word has gotten out that Leo is engaged our family has a lot of enemies.”

“I won’t talk to anyone I don’t know.” I say as I walk away.
