I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to update! My life has honestly taken a left and a right turn so much that I’m dizzy! But I’ll try to update in my free time between work and school. But on with the story…
***Ivan’s POV****
I can’t believe that I was still stuck on that crazy b*tch! Now I’ve lost my mate, and I’m entirely spiraling! Is my life even worth living? I used to think that life was better without a mate, but now? I feel like my life is incomplete without her. It’s unbelievable how fast someone can become your entire world. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to have her back.
“So you’re willing to accept a pup that isn’t yours?” my wyvern mumbled under his breath. I came to a sudden halt, completely stunned. He had a valid point, and I never stopped to consider whether I would be able to love and accept the child. It was just the thought that someone who wasn’t I impregnated her. It’s my f*cking mark she’s supposed to wear when she’s pregnant with our children. It’s my scent that’s supposed to act as a cloak around her body, letting other males know to back off. But instead, she’s carrying that b*stard child that was created outside of the mate bond! I unknowingly started clenching my fists, digging my talons into the rough, scaly skin of my palms. Whoever that a*shole is that had the absolute audacity to touch her, I’ll wipe out their entire bloodline in front of them! My blood started to boil, practically sizzling like bacon on a hot stove. Every fiber of my being wanted to deny that illegitimate pup, but that same pup was coming from my beautiful mate. There was a fallen tree on the forest floor; I dropped down onto it, ignoring how it split under my weight. My thoughts were jumbled to the point that I was inwardly drowning in them, although on the outside, I was breathing. I didn’t notice someone was nearby until they stepped on a twig. Quickly, my head snapped in the direction of the noise and nothing could have ever prepared me for what held direct eye contact with me.
***Amber’s POV***
It would be an understatement to say I was over being pregnant. The only bright side was that I was only having one, I’m not sure if I would be mentally capable of having multiples again. I mean, I would love them to the end of the earth, but there’s only so much my body can take. I began wondering where the triplets were until I heard a child like growl. Instantly, I started praying that this wasn’t happening, but I knew it was. There stood Ivan, looking both shocked and confused. My eyes followed his to what or really who he was looking at. The triplets had shifted together into Cerberus! They were flashing their teeth and growling, but why? It was then that it occurred to me that they somehow knew that he had hurt someone in the family. I was both proud and horrified! Nobody was supposed to know about their ability! Especially considering how young they are, too young to have their wolves. My eyes trailed them, and I was in awe at how adorable they were. If I could pause time, I would just admire how cute they looked as Cerberus.
“Seriously, Amber? You really think now of all times it is appropriate to admire the triplets?” My lycan and wolf practically said in unison. As much as I wanted to watch my kids f*ck Ivan up, I had to remember that they’re kids, and he’s an old*ss wyvern.
“Why are you here?” I hissed at him with all the venom I could. It was then that his attention was pulled from my children and to my utter shock, he was crying. I felt a heavy feeling in my heart, f*ck these pregnancy hormones! Quickly, I made sure I looked emotionless and stared him down; meanwhile, the triplets were still letting out their squeaky young growls.
“Vous trois ! Arrêtez, changez-vous et allez voir votre père. Je m'en occupe.” (translation: You three! Quit it and change back now! Go to your father while I deal with him).” They let out one last snarl, and begrudge started walking away without shifting back! I swear they can be so hardheaded.
“Gee, I wonder where they got that?” Jade smugly said to me. Ignoring her, I turned my attention back to Ivan.
“Stop staring at my children, or I’ll end your sorry excuse of a life before you know it.” My teeth began to elongate, and claws started forming.
“I’m sorry, Luna Amber, it’s just that I haven’t seen a Cerberus in centuries; I think my age was in the single digits at the time.” He chuckled to himself. “Well, let me say congratulations on your amazing triplets and current pregnancy.” His voice was full of sincerity, which made it hard for me to be a b*tch.
“Save your pitiful sh*t for someone that cares. Oh, tell no one what you saw. The last thing I need is people finding out, then I’ll end up going on a m*rder spree, and that’s a lot of energy. But let’s get back on topic, why the f*ck are you here?” It was then that I noticed the bags under his eyes, the unkempt look, and the overall depressed aura he was giving off.
“Are you serious, Amber? It’s evident that this beast has been through sh*t and is probably at his all-time low! I thought you said it was hard for you to be a b*tch to him?! Jade screamed at me.
“First of all, stop yelling before you give me a headache. I said that it would be hard, not impossible. But hush so I can focus!”
“Are you done arguing with your wolf or lycan? Before you ask how I know, Jessica gets the same look when communicating with her lycan. But I’m here because I need your help. Please hear me out before you refuse!” Awe f*ck, he was pleading with me, and I could see the desperation in his eyes.
“Fine, follow me. But if I get the slightest feeling that you’re bullsh*tting me, I’ll tie you down and rip every one of your scales off one at a time.” He nodded, followed me to the fallen tree, and sat beside me. There isn’t a thing in the world that could’ve prepared me for what he was telling me.
