*Just to recap, the names of the triplets are Ryan, Ryker, and Riley*
****Amber’s POV***
Am I in the twilight zone or some sh*t? I wasn’t sure if I could trust him, but he looked so lost and broken that I couldn’t help but to. I’m not sure if it’s the pregnancy hormones or if his story really tugged on my heartstrings.
“F*ck it, what’s the plan?” Aggressively, I said while standing up and placing my hands on my hips. He gave me a confused look before pointing at my obnoxiously bulging stomach.
“Amber, you’re pregnant with Ryder’s pups. It’s too dangerous for you, and I don’t want him coming after me if goddess forbade something from happening to you.” I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at him. This man can’t be serious right now.
“You got to be f*cking kidding me. I’m not some fragile female who can’t defend herself!” My claws began to come out as my Lycan pushed to the surface. The next thing I knew, a bone-chilling growl ripped through the air. I couldn’t help the devilish grin that began to grow on my face. Turning around, I locked eyes with Ryder.
“The f*ck are you doing here Ivan? "I don’t remember inviting you here.” Slowly, Ryder started taking menacing steps toward Ivan. I could tell his wolf was ready to come out. I guess Ivan did too, because his wings began to grow from his back.
“You two, stop this sh*t! Right now isn’t the time to have a f*cking p*ssing contest, guys. Can you two pl-” Before I could finish my sentence, both of them shifted and began fighting each other. Everything happened at once; there was an overwhelming amount of chaos! Before my brain could fully comprehend what was happening, sh*t hit the fan. My eyes landed on my wonderful triplets; they’d formed into Cerberus and were able to attack Ivan. I was about to shout at them, but an unexpected voice bellowed out at them.
“Stop! "Don’t hit my mate!” Standing there was my sister, Jessica, but something was off about her. “Don’t attack him because he couldn’t help that his ex was a crazy b*tch. "Please, I beg of you, take mercy on him!” As soon as she finished her sentences, the ears of my Lycan and wolf shot up to attention. When did she get back, and why is she defending him? I thought she hated him.
“Sister! "I’ve missed you so much!” She threw her arms around my neck in a tight embrace. Something was off, but I couldn’t exactly pinpoint what it was.
***Riley’s POV***
“Why did mommy have to embarrass us like that?” I threw myself onto the sofa and pouted.
“Riley, you know Mom and Dad told us not to reveal ourselves to anyone except them! Why did you initiate everything? Are you trying to get us in trouble?!” Ryker was yelling at me, and he never does that. Oh man, I really messed up this time!
“But, Ryker! He hurt Auntie Jess. It’s only ri-” Before I could finish my sentence, I was cut off.
“Stop! Do you guys smell that?” As soon as he finished speaking, the smell invaded my senses. It was so bad that I almost threw up. But before I realized it, I locked eyes with the source of the odor. Why did Auntie Jess smell so bad, and why was she giving all three of us a weird look?
“Kids, I need you guys not to ask any questions.” My mother’s voice suddenly came into my mind, which was strange since she didn’t mind link my brothers and me often. In fact, she only did when it was an emergency. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw both my brothers go still as they were listening for further directions. “I need only one of you to say that I’m calling for you and, without raising alarm bells, exit the house as calmly as possible. When you do, come directly to me regardless of what you hear. If you see your Aunt Jessica, ignore her as well.” Something wasn’t right, and it sent a shiver down my spine.
“Hey guys, Mom just linked me, saying she wants us to come back and apologize.” Ryker said with a level of calmness I didn’t know he had. But somehow I managed to walk out of the house calmly, my mind was racing with only one central thought: did my brothers realize the scent was coming from Aunt Jess or that she was standing in the window watching us?
***Amber’s POV***
As soon as ‘Jessica’ hugged me, I instantly knew it wasn’t her. Shoving her away from my body and most importantly my unborn pup, I shifted into my lycan. Quickly, I mind-linked the triplets and told them to come back. I was about to link Ryder, but he was already doing it.
“Amber, something is off about this Jessica. I don’t think it’s her.” My focus was locked on her and the sounds of my children coming toward me.
“I know, but the kids are on their way back. I told them to because I don’t have a good feeling about something and don’t want them alone.” He didn’t have to reply because I could feel his protective instincts increasing.
“Amber, why did you do that? I’m your sister! Especially after everything Ivan has put me through! I would’ve thought you would be more loving towards me.” Her words held emotion, but her behavior, tone, and facial expressions lacked it. At this point, Riley, Ryker, and Ryan arrived and stood behind me. Instantly, I took a protective position in front of them. I couldn’t help but let out an emotionless chuckle.
“Do you really think that we’re that stupid? I mean, Ivan, maybe, but Ryder and I? I’m insulted.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ivan roll his eyes. “You ask how I’m about to treat you like this, but isn’t it obvious? You’re not Jessica! Instead, you’re just a filthy skinwalker with the audacity to parade around like my sister! I practically spat the end of my sentence out. Suddenly, her body began to change before she sprang herself at me. But at the last second, she changed her target and went for my stomach, landing a claw into my skin and throwing me off balance. I couldn’t protect both my unborn pup and the triplets. But before I could do anything, I felt this skinwalker sink all of her claws into my protruding abdomen and ripping them out without a second thought. I knew something was torn off of me when I could feel that I had lost something or really someone. The only thought I had was that it had just torn my pup out of my stomach.
