Katerina Lee was a small-town girl who had big dreams for her future. After she graduated, her family decided to move to Canada so she had to learn to live alone. Living alone wasn't a problem for her as she was the independent type, but without her family around, she realized she no longer has the same responsibilities as she used to have when she had people to take care of. So one day, she accepted an invitation from her co-worker over to the countryside for a certain celebration. She expected to at least have a good time, but she did not, however, expected to find love, let alone the series of events that unfold truths about her.

Chapter 1-The day
Katerina POV I woke up to the sounds of birds humming their morning tune, sounds dramatic, I know, but this is how I have always been. I mean, yes, I am a bit dreamy sometimes because of all the poetry books I have read growing up, I know how to appreciate and love the romance about the little things, but I am a practical and logical person too. I believe what I see, I believe what is known, but I also don't dismiss the possibility of the impossible. Today is the day my parents will be moving to Canada so I am making sure to cook breakfast knowing that this would be our last meal together in a while. Their flight is at 12:30 pm and knowing my parents, i know they would insist to be at the airport 3 hours before the schedule. After taking in the realization that I will be alone in this house by the end of the day, I got up and head to the bathroom for a quick shower. I know i wouldn't have the time later so i decided to put some make-up on before starting downstairs. I started whipping some pancakes as this was my mother's favorite, then proceeded to cook bacon, eggs, and toasts for my dad. Of course, their perfect breakfast wouldn't be complete without their favorite cup of coffee. I really don't understand the taste of coffee, I mean, I don't feel anything when i drink it, but I figured maybe when I'm older I'll finally understand why people's craving for coffee is so strong, for now, I'll just settle with my orange juice. At exactly 7:30, my parents came down both looking so excited. "Good morning mom, dad. I see how you both are so excited about your flight but I'm not letting you go without having one last breakfast with me." I teasingly told them. My mother then pouted and came to me with her arms open. "Awwe, honey, we are thrilled to finally be moving somewhere your father and I have always dreamed of retiring in, but having breakfast with you? We wouldn't miss it for the world!" she said while hugging me. My dad joined us in and we stayed like that for a minute before digging in our meal. "I really wish you would change your mind and come move with us hun, your brother kept insisting that we convince you to come, you know how protective he is when it comes to you, he isn't comfortable with the idea that we are leaving you here alone." my mom started. It's true though, my family and I never had a problem growing up. We were always close with each other and my brother who's been living in Canada for a few years now has been so persistent about me moving in with them. "Mom, I would love nothing more than to come with you, but you know i have only started my first job and I don't think it'll look good if my first working experience didn't last for at least a year." As much as i hate being separated from them, I already had plans for my life, and the job i currently have at the hospital is paving the way for my dreams.   "We know hun," she smiled and reached for my hand, "we also know you are old enough and are more than capable of handling things alone, you have always been very responsible, but you're still our baby girl, so the moment you have any problem, you don't hesitate to call us okay?" I smiled and nodded at her words. We were enjoying the rest of our breakfast when I was suddenly pulled out of my thoughts as my mom's phone vibrated, then started ringing. It was time to go.   _____________________ The airport was approximately a 45-minute drive from our house and we arrived just in time for my mom's 3-hour prior-to-flight habit. I both had them checked-in online but my mother insisted that I also get a printed boarding pass. I was rushing back to my parents while double-checking all their documents when i happen to bump into somebody, the impact was so sudden it caused a light electric shock and I lost grip of the passports, "Oh I'm really sorry", without expecting any response from the crowded space, i moved forward and bent down to pick up the passports then went straight to find my parents. My dad was busy talking to someone on the phone so i turned to my mom instead, "Mom all the papers you need are in here, i placed your passports in front to make it easier for you to access later on, and your boarding passes behind. If you want, you can also hold it in your hands so you won't have to take it out later but i would very much prefer you do that after you guys put your phones away. We don't want anyone losing their phones this time." I winked at my mom and we both started laughing. For some reason, my dad has a habit of losing his phone almost every time he has a flight. When my dad ended his call, i had them tuck their phones inside their bags and instructed them to only take it out once they have safely arrived. "I'm gonna miss you both sooo much!" I said while hugging them. "Us too honey, we hope you can be with us on Christmas though.", said my dad. "I'll see which holiday i can take off, you know it's customary for the newbies to take the holidays", I hugged them tighter which earned a small cough from mom, then we all burst out laughing. "I'm sorry about that mom, but i will see you guys really soon, I'll make sure of it. Please take care, I already sent Andrei your medicine prescriptions and schedules so make sure you take them on time." My mother nodded, and they both gave me a kiss, "You too honey, please take care of yourself." After saying our goodbyes, i went back to my car and started driving back home.
