Chapter six: Starting a garden

Gina would like to start a vegetable patch with apples and orange trees off to one side, knocking at the Alphas door she waits to be asked in. Gina pops her head in. “Are you too busy to see me Alpha.” “No come in what’s on your mind.”

I was wondering if I could start our own vegetables patch put some apple trees with orange trees, grow some blackberries and blueberries too only if that’s alright with you Sir.”

“You can’t go but I’ll send someone to you, and you can tell him what you need, will that be okay. “Perfect thank you Alpha.” I leave, my morning is busy with cleaning rooms, taking laundry down to be washed.

I have an Omega that I trust to make sandwiches for everyone, not forgetting the Alpha. While I hold court with people who have a problem with someone or something that takes me up to the afternoon.

Today I decided to have a stew with big chunks of meat boiled potatoes with vegetables. It’s been on the stove all day while I run in and out checking on it. The pudding is meringue pies, I made ten, raw meat is cut into bite sizes.

One of the Omegas asked me why I always have raw meat on the table. “It keeps everyone healthy. We as werewolves we must eat raw meat to keep up the blood flow for healing.” “Oh! I didn’t know that.”

“Well now you do.” The dinner bell goes off, they are in a routine now, wash your hands to eat. Gina makes up the plate for the Alphas as he walks in. He stops and sniffs the air then sits.

Gina places his plate in front of him. He exclaimed “A stew, Yummy!”

I pass the pie to an omega to give to the Alpha. As I have finished my own food, I go into the kitchen to start washing the plates. The Pack have started to bring their plates into me thanking me for their food.

I wipe my hands going to stand by the Alpha. “Sit Gina.” “Thank you, sir.” “What can I do for you.” She sighs can we buy another dishwasher please Alpha.” He looks taken aback “A dishwasher.” “If it’s not too much to buy.” “I’ll see what I can do.” “Alpha, I appreciate that, Gina hop’s up to leave.

He says, “Gina I see the changes you have made; everyone is much happier.” Gina laughs, “that’s because their bellies are full.”

“No, I think it’s you, they just want to make you happy. You have made a big difference here they are enjoying their training as well.

Helping those less fortunate than themselves it warms my heart I bless the day you arrived.” Alpha was true to his word, he sent his Gamma to me to get the list, so I had to sit down and make a list. “I wish I could go with you.” I told him.

“But the Alpha has forbidden me to leave the grounds. Can you look around for some fruit trees. Three of each apple trees, oranges, Pears, lemons, blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, some potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes too.

If you have enough, can you look for. Two bread makers and bread flour that you use with it. You will find it in big bags in the grocery store thank you Gamma.

Excuse me for my rudeness I don’t know your name?” “It’s Ryan Miss Gina.” “Thank you, Ryan.” “Your more than welcome Miss Gina. As he bows.

The Alpha is watching from his window thinking, would you look at that he’s showing her respect. He watches Gina go over to the men that are standing around doing nothing, asking if they could help her dig a vegetable patch for the vegetables.

Some holes for the trees also the bushes, they too bow their heads to her as they go to the shed for spades. Alpha Stephen just shakes his head. His pack has changed since Gina arrived. They ask where she would like the patch to be, behind the house Gina points.

Gina is getting excited they won’t let her dig; But she stands on the sideline and barks out orders. She tells them the fruit trees will go beside the patch. Now they wait for Gamma Ryan to come home. When he does his car is full of all the trees and plants. Gina jumps up and down from excitement, they help her plant the trees one of the men goes and gets a hose to start watering them in.

All the while the Alpha is standing watching, he can’t believe how his pack loves Gina, with all plants in she stands back to admire their hard work. Thanking them all for their help. One man said it’s our pleasure Miss Gina.

She bows her head showing them respect they all walk away with their chests pushed out with pride.

Gamma Ryan told Gina I have your two bread makers with flour in the pack house.

She smiles up at him then gives him a hug. “Thank you, Gamma Ryan, now I can set them up to make homemade bread for the mornings and lunch. Gamma Ryan’s face turns red with her show of affection towards him. It’s time for the pack to come into her office to see her. Gina has allowed two hours once a week for her training.

Then allows three days a week for one hour for the pack to have their say. Her life is full, but she loves this pack, they show her loads of respect.

She has Gamma Ryan put the bread makers on the bench near a power point. She sits and reads the instructions before she uses them.

To her surprise and delight the dishwasher was delivered the same day and installed now they have two on the go. It’s starting to look like a working kitchen.

Just before Gina goes to bed, she sets the two bread makers to start making the bread before anyone is up but once the bread starts cooking everyone can smell it.

They all wander out half asleep to find out where that delicious smell is coming from.

“Morning Miss Gina that smell is amazing what is it.” “I’m making bread for breakfast hopefully lunch too, go back to bed it’s too early for you to be up.” “But you are up Miss Gina.”

“Yes, I am but I’m making breakfast, now off to bed with you. You still have two or three hours of sleep to go.

Then Alpha Stephen comes stamping down the stairs. “We are under attack wake up everyone he yells.” “Can I fight to Alpha.” “Yes, but you stay by my side it’s you they have come for.” With a heavy heart Gina goes out to kill her uncle or grandfather if they get in her way.

Gina called for the warriors to form a semi-circle. She puts the fighters on each side of the warriors to protect them. The women are our last defense they too have been training.

Gina puts them in front of the pack house to guard the women and children inside the house. “Don’t let them get through.” She tells them. They nod to her with determination on their faces.

Alpha calls her over to his side with a small smile on his face. “Gina calls out don’t break the line.” Alpha nods his approval, so they wait for the other pack to attack. My old Alpha comes out from the trees saying. “We don’t want to hurt your pack we just want Gina back.” Alpha Stephen asks. “Why do you want her.” “That’s our business not yours.” “Well, you see it is my business she’s my niece from my brother.”

“Well, I’m her grandfather. “Oh! the same grandfather who hit her and made her a slave, that grandfather.” He goes red in the face when Alpha Stephen openly insults him. No-one talks to him like that and gets away with it, her grandfather changes into his wolf, he is magnificent his wolf is pure black his son quickly changes into his wolf to back up his dad.

Alpha Stephen holds up his hands and says “let’s settle this like adults. If I win, she will stay here. If you win, she goes with you this is between us agreed.” “Yes agreed.” “Stay your ground don’t move out of your position. Gamma, Beta, back your Alpha.” Gina calls out.

They both go up to support their Alpha everyone stands tall waiting. “I will not go back if Alpha Stephen loses, I will kill them both are you with me Maya on this.”

“Yes, Gina, I stand with you on this.” The fight was brutal but, in the end, Alpha Stephen stood tall and made grandfather yield. I stood up with pride that my Alpha had won.

“You will honor your loss and leave this land never to step foot on it again.” Alpha Stephen tells Gina’s Grandfather.

“Gina is now our pack member you can’t have her.” “Hold your places Gina calls out nobody move.” We watched as they picked up their Alpha to leave. Gina made the pack hold as she called out again. After half an hour they came back without the Alpha, this time it was Leon who led them.

Gina was going to kill him if he attacked. Just as Alpha Stephen went to step out Gina gently puts her hand on his arm saying, “This one’s mine.” He stood back and nodded. Gina went behind the fighters for cover to discard her clothes, as she came out, they all in unison stepped back.

She slowly walked over to him waiting for him to change he seemed to be having second thoughts, yeah you coward it was okay to hit me when the Alpha had forbidden me to harm any of the pack members.

But this is different. I’m allowed to use my full strength which I will, so I wait for him to pick up the courage to fight me. Walking back and forth watching him my wolf Maya is snarling at his wolf, she is a big wolf, he was just a normal Alpha size wolf.

Then when he plucks up the courage to come at me trying to get me to back down, but he doesn’t know I’ve been training hard to defend myself.

I sidestep him which enrages him more, too bad. “Come on let’s see what you’ve got, you puny arse mutt.” I snarl at him. He lunges again but I’m ready for him as he goes past.

I snap my mouth around his throat putting enough pressure on it to make him whimper but I didn’t let him go as I pulled him over to my Alpha. I looked up at my Alpha asking for permission to kill him.

He stands proud and nods as Maya crunches down harder until we hear that snap, Leon goes limp.

I drop him and spit like he’s left a bad taste in my mouth, the pack all laugh. Going behind the fighters to change back and put my clothes on, I come out then say.

“Any more of you want to join Alpha Leon.” They turn and walk away. “Take your trash home with you.”
