Chapter 4: First Day of School (Nick’s POV)

2071 Words
It was 7am when my alarm went off. I had a huge headache and was tired because I only slept 3 hours. ‘It’s going to be a long day’, I thought to myself.  I got out of bed trying not to wake Kali. I took my clothes and went to the bathroom to take a shower and prepare for school.  After I finished, I wanted to go outside, but before I reached the door, kali woke up.  “What time is it?” She asked while yawning.  “It’s 7.15 am.” I whispered, “You can stay a little bit longer if you like, just make sure no one notices you coming out of my room.” I demanded her. She nodded silently and went back to sleep. I got downstairs, as quiet as possible, to have some breakfast. Everyone else was still asleep, which was normal after the party… I took some cereal and a glass of orange juice and sat down at the kitchen island. While I was checking my phone to see all the birthday wishes, I remembered I had to text Dylan that he didn’t have to pick me up, because I was going to school on my new sports bike. I didn’t mention that though, I wanted to see his face when he saw my new ride. Suddenly I heard someone behind me. In the door opening I saw Accalia. She was standing there with her arms crossed in front of her chest, giving me a judgmental look.  “What?” I asked with my mouth full of cereals.  “Did you have fun last night?” She questioned, kind of frustrated, “With Kali?!” She continued. “Wait, what?” I was shocked, how did she know?  “You slept with her, didn’t you?” She growled. I gulped loudly before staring at the ground and mumbling, “How did you know?” “Oh, I don’t know… Her smell is all around you! I can’t believe you did that! I thought you were going to wait for your mate?!” She sounded disappointed.  “Oh come on, that’s not fair! It’s not because you’ve found yours, I’m going to find mine anytime soon. And you know me!” I stated. “Yes, or at least I thought I did! I know you like to fool and play around, but I never thought you were going to sleep with one of your little sluts!” She was getting really mad. I knew I was going to have to deal with this sooner or later, but… I preferred later. “Okay that’s it, I don’t need this right now! And don’t call them that!” I growled back at her while taking my stuff and leaving for the garage. “Nick, come back here! I’m not done--...!” I could hear her yell from the kitchen fading into the background.  I put on my new jacket, took my bike and started making my way to school, trying to forget the conversation I just had with my sister. I was testing how fast I could go and I saw the trees falling behind me in a blur. In no time I reached the human town, I don’t think I ever got there that fast.  When I pulled into the schools parking, I saw all the girls looking at me flirtatiously.  I parked my bike and took off my helmet as I saw Dylan walking towards me. “So this is the reason I didn’t have to give you a ride.” He stated with eyes widened and his eyebrows frowned. “Dude, you’re even going to get more attention from the girls now!” He exclaimed, while he was looking around, seeing all eyes on me. I just laughed while getting off my bike.  “Let’s just go inside,” I said, “Oh, and thank you by the way!”  “For what?” He asked, confused. “For wishing me happy birthday!” I responded with a sarcastic smile. “Oh that, yeah yeah, happy birthday man… Come on, tell me, how was your party, did anything interesting happen?” He curiously questioned, moving his eyebrows up and down. “Well,...” I began slowly, before he interrupted me.  “Oh my god, you did it didn’t you?!” He yelled shockingly, his voice full of excitement. “Dude, keep your voice down!” I growled, warning him. “Sorry… So, who was the lucky girl?” He continued interrogating.. “I’m not going to tell you.” I laughed. “Oh, come on man! Was it Kali?” He just wouldn’t stop.  I gave him an annoyed look while we reached my locker and opened it to get some of my books out.  “It was Kali, wasn’t it? I knew it!” He chuckled softly. “Just shut up will you!” I growled quietly. I was getting Frustrated. He took the hint and changed the topic. He went on, babbling about our plans for tonight, but everything he said fell into the background when a particular, strong new scent hit me. It was so overwhelming and nothing like I ever smelled before. And that’s when I saw her. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She had tall, dark brown hair that curled slightly on top of her bosom. Her eyes were this perfect mix of blue and green, like they couldn’t decide which color to choose, and I could feel myself getting lost in them. Her pink lips looked so soft that I couldn’t help the desire of kissing them. And when she smiled, these cute little dimples appeared on her cheeks and you could see a twinkle in her eyes. It was truly magical. She was truly magical. The moment I laid my eyes on her, everything else felt like a blur and I couldn’t stop staring at her. I could feel my wolf stir on the inside, trying to take control, while a voice in the back of my head kept saying ‘mate’. I was taken out of my daze when I heard Dylan whisper loudly “Dude, your eyes! Your eyes are red!”  “Huh, what?” I responded confused, still not entirely realizing what just happened.  When his words sank in, I shook my head with my eyes closed. Trying to get them back to my normal brown color. You see, when your wolf takes control, the color of your eyes changes. Depending on your status, you have three colors. Red (alpha), yellow (pack wolf) and blue (rogue wolves without a pack). When I looked up, I saw Dylan with a panicked look on his face. “What the hell just happened?!” He asked worried. “Uhm… I-I’m not sure… It was probably nothing…” I responded kind of shaky, while I was trying to look for her again. I didn’t sound really convincing, but before he could ask anymore questions, the bell rang and we walked to our classroom.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Amy’s POV~ The sound of my alarm woke me from an amazing dream I was having and soon I realized it was my first day at my new school. I was really nervous, because I’ve never changed schools and I’ve never gone somewhere I didn’t know anyone. Okay, I met this girl April yesterday, but she probably has her own group of friends and won’t be hangin out with me much.  I wanted to make a good first impression so I took a shower and put on my cutest outfit. It was a short, burgundy colored dress with a flower print and a black leather jacket that I combined with my black heeled ankle boots and at last, I put on a golden locket with my initial letter that my mom gave me when I turned 16.  I took a last approving look in the mirror and tried to encourage myself by saying, “Amy, you can do this, you’re ready!” I went downstairs and there, my dad was waiting for me to join him for breakfast. He made some blueberry pancakes and eggs with bacon. This was my favorite breakfast and my mom used to make it whenever I had something important that day, like the first day of a new school year. Although everything was looking kind of burned, he really did his best to get my first day off to a good start.  “So how are you feeling? Are you ready for your first day?” He asked me, with a mixed look in his eyes. I could see some excitement in them but I could also see the sadness that hasn’t left them since mom died.  “I’m a little nervous actually…” I muttered under my breath.  “Oh sweetheart, you have nothing to worry about! You’re going to be just fine! You’re an amazing and beautiful woman and if they can’t see that, well it’s their loss!” He said, trying to make me feel better, although it didn’t really help. I took a few bites, just to make my dad happy, before I kissed him goodbye and got my stuff to start making my way to school.  The school wasn’t too far, so I decided to walk. It was also nice to get some fresh air to calm my nerves a little. Once I arrived I went to the dean's office so he could welcome me and show me around. He was a middle aged man and from the looks of the pictures on his desk, he had a loving family and was happily married. He was really kind and helpful and made me calm down a bit. He gave me my books and the list of my classes. Then he walked me towards my locker and showed me around. When we finished, he dropped me off at my first class, which had started about 30 minutes ago. He told me to wait outside for a moment, making it possible for him to introduce me to my classmates.  I could hear him speak from where I was standing, “Okay class, today there’s a new student joining us. I want you all to welcome her with open arms.” He paused for a second as he waved me over and I took a deep breath before stepping inside.  “This is Amy Adams, your new classmate. So guys, please behave.” He said with a stern voice. I felt all eyes on me and it was making me anxious. The dean left and the teacher told me there was a free spot in the back. I was looking for it and suddenly I felt my heart skip a beat. Just behind where I was supposed to sit, there He was. The guy I saw yesterday and beside him, was his friend. Oh god, he was so handsome! He had this dark brown hair that was a little messy, like he just got out of bed, but it looked amazing on him. Puppy brown eyes that probably could get anything he wants and his body.... God his body… It looked like it was scalped by the gods. He was wearing a tight black T-shirt that showed his muscles clearly. I felt my heart in my throat and my legs go numb as I tried walking over there. How can a guy that I don’t even know have such an impact on me? He looked at me and I gave him a weak smile, but when he saw it, he immediately turned away with a strange look in his eyes. He seemed… Angry.  I didn’t understand, why would he look at me like that when he doesn’t even know me.  Anyway, as I sat down I told myself not to think too much of it because maybe something completely different was bothering him.  The teacher continued with her class and I opened my books so I could follow. It was mathematics, something I’m really good at.  A few moments after I sat down, He suddenly stood up without a warning and walked out of the classroom with his fists clenched beside him. He was clearly frustrated. I kept thinking if maybe it was because of me. I could hear the teacher say something to him, but he didn’t spare her a glance. I saw his friend trying to get up as well, ready to follow him, but the teacher yelled, “Mr. Anderson, sit down!” When she saw he wasn’t sitting down, she continued sternly, “NOW!”  At last, he did as she said while mumbling something to himself, but he kept staring at the clock and clicking his pen impatiently.  When the bell finally rang, he took both their stuff and ran outside as fast as he could.  ‘Guys’, I thought to myself…  When I walked out of the classroom, I saw that April was waiting for me.  She waved me over before she said with a bright smile, “So I was thinking... We have the last period before lunch together and after that, I could show you around a little.”  “That would be nice,” I responded as I was trying to forget what just happened.
