Chapter 5: First Day of School Part 2 (Nick’s POV)

1805 Words
Dylan and I sat down in the back of the classroom while Mrs. Davis walked in. She was our mathematics teacher and kind of a b***h… She hated me, because I wasn’t too good at it.  Time went by so slow that morning until suddenly we heard a knock on the door.  Dean Parker walked in with the announcement that we had a new student joining us. I kept thinking about that girl I saw earlier. It must be her and considering the scent I was smelling, there was no doubt. It was the same strong and overwhelming scent, a mixture of my favorite smells. When he waved her over, she walked in and he introduced her. Her name was Amy and as soon as I saw her, I could feel my wolf under the surface again, trying to take control… The dean left and she walked over to the open seat in front of me. I made the mistake looking right into her eyes, making her give me a small enchanted smile, which made my wolf go crazy. I immediately looked away as it was getting harder and harder to control him.  My claws and my canines were starting to show and my wolf was urging me to mark her on the spot, all because he could feel how the other guys were staring at her.  “Dude are you alright?” Dylan asked me with a concerned look on his face. I felt my heartbeat increase and I started breathing heavily.  ‘I’ve gotta get out of here’, I thought to myself. I left my seat with my fists clenched, making sure that no one was able to see my claws. As I was walking out, I heard Mrs. Davis yell something, but I didn’t care to look.  I could feel myself fading to the background as my wolf was getting more and more in control. I decided to head to the boys locker room, thinking a cold shower would help. Once I arrived, I took my shirt off and got into the shower as fast as I could. The water was freezing but I didn’t care. I needed my wolf to calm down. I didn’t know how long I was in there, when I heard the door open. By the smell, I could tell it was Dylan. I heard his footsteps approach, before he dropped our stuff on the floor.  I felt his gaze on me while he asked, kind of yelling, “What the hell is wrong with you today?!”  “I don’t know, I can’t keep control!” I cried as I was panting and I could still feel my canines. “Okay, okay, just relax… Try to concentrate on something that helps you calm down.” Dylan said softer, trying to help me as best as he could. “I’m trying…” I growled frustrated. “I’ve never felt like this before.” “Do you know why this is happening?”  “This is going to sound crazy...” I started, “But I-I think Amy, the new girl, I think she’s my” I paused for a second before continuing, “Mate.”  “Wait what?!” He yelled surprised. He lowered his voice as he continued “Okay, then try not to think about her… Get her out of your head… At least for now.” He saw I was struggling. I closed my eyes, not trying to think about her, as my mind traveled to things that calmed me down. I was in the woods at night, running freely in my wolf form. I love a good run and it helps me relax and clear my thoughts whenever I need it.  After a few moments, I opened my eyes and I could feel my wolf fading. I was in control again. My breathing slowed down and my canines and claws were gone.  I looked up at Dylan, who was gazing back at me with a bewildered look on his face. “So tell me, what happened.” He said to break the silence. I got out of the shower, before responding, “I don’t know if it’s the wolfsbane that’s still in my system or if I’m just completely going crazy, but Amy is my mate…” “But how is this possible?” Dylan asked calmly. “It’s very rare, but it can happen… I just never thought it would happen to me.” I felt so confused. “I don’t get why the Moon Goddess gave me a f*****g human as a mate!” I was getting frustrated as it was starting to sink in that it would be so hard to make her mine. “It’s going to be so difficult! She doesn’t even know we exist and the bond won’t be as strong for her as it is for me… My wolf and I will be craving for her while she will just feel this strange attraction and she will be confused about the effect I’ll have on her.” I sighed. Realizing this, made me feel even more horrible. “Then why don’t you tell her the truth?” Dylan questioned while lifting one eyebrow. “Yeah sure… Let me just go to her and say: hey Amy, I’m a soon to be werewolf Alpha and you are my mate. We have to have s*x and I have to mark you so you can transform and you can be the Luna of our pack and we can be together forever.” I said sarcastically. “Yeah… On second thought, maybe don’t do that…” He chuckled with a frown. “You just gonna have to make her fall in love with you, and when you think she is ready, you tell her…”  I knew he was right.  “Or I could just reject her.” I joked. “Don’t be an i***t! Come on, we have to go.” He stated. I changed and we went to our next class, as I tried not to think too much about her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Amy’s POV ~ The rest of the morning went by quite fast. I’ve had history, geography and English before midday.  It was a beautiful day, so we went outside to have lunch. On our way, everyone stopped to say hi to April. I guess she’s quite popular, I mean why wouldn’t she be? She is very beautiful.  As we sat down, she started to tell me which teachers were amazing, which were boring and which were just plain evil. Her words, not mine. She told me about the different kinds of groups in school and which ones I should try to avoid. Then she started talking about how life was around here and from what I understood, it was very peaceful and nothing too crazy ever happened.  “Why did you guys move here?” April suddenly asked me. “After my mom died, my dad just had to get away from all the memories… And this is the town my mom grew up in and he promised her that one day they would move here to spend their final years together. They never even had the chance to do it, so I guess he wanted to grant her wish one way or another” I said as I felt tears collect in my eyes.   “Oh my god, I’m so sorry… I didn’t know!” She gave me a compassionate look while I could feel a tear fall down my cheek. It was silent for a moment because April didn’t know what to say. When I was wiping away my tears, I saw Him sitting on the grass under a tree with his friend. I guess they are inseparable. I noticed that he changed his clothes, he was now wearing a white shirt and dark blue jeans.  “Hey April, that guy over there, under the tree, with the white shirt, who is he?” I questioned her, breaking the silence. April looked behind her and when she spotted him, she turned back towards me with a wide grin on her face.  “That, that is Nick Cooper. The hottest guy in school and he knows it. Every girl wants him and believe me, he really doesn’t mind the attention.” “Mm-hmm,” I nodded before asking, “Does he have a girlfriend?” I felt myself staring at him. “Oh my god, you like him already?!” April laughed out loud. But I didn’t respond to what she said, it’s like I was in a trance. “Hello, earth to Amy!” She yelled while snapping her fingers at me. “Huh, what? What happened?” “Nothing, just you staring at your new crush. And no he doesn’t have a girlfriend” She chuckled.  “Oh, I’m sorry… Ugh, I don’t know what’s wrong with me… Ever since I saw him yesterday, it’s like I feel this pull towards him and I can’t stop looking at him.” I explained, trying my best not to sound crazy. “Don’t worry, it’s normal… He’s hot. And I have to admit, even though he likes to play around, he’s a really nice guy. He’s attentive and he always tries to help. If you are friends with him, he would do anything for you.” She stated seriously.  “Really?” I questioned her, “It’s just, the strangest thing happened this morning when I was in class with him. He looked at me and I smiled and he just looked away immediately, like he was angry. And then he just walked out…”  “Mmm, that is strange, but I wouldn’t question it too much. He was probably just dealing with something… He can have a short temper sometimes…” She tried convincing me. “You’re probably right…” “It’s his birthday by the way.” She suddenly revealed. I looked at her a little bit surprised. “He and Dylan are going to this club tonight to celebrate, and Dylan invited me, so if you'd like to come?” She asked. “Uhm, yeah sure, I have to ask my dad though. But I’m sure it will be fine.” I paused for a second before I asked her my next question, “So he and Dylan are pretty good friends huh?” “Oh yeah, they’ve been best buds for as long as I can remember. They always do everything together. I like to hang out with them.” “And does Dylan have a girlfriend?” I chuckled. “Haha, no, he’s been in love with me for so long… He gets so nervous around me, I just love the influence I have on him. I really like him, but don’t tell him that, I like to play hard to get.” She winked at me. I couldn’t help but laugh as I put my hands up, confirming I wouldn’t tell.  Soon the bell rang and we headed back inside. Two hours passed by fast, and I found myself heading towards biology when I saw April again. We went in together and we took our places next to each other. A few seconds after we sat down, Nick and Dylan walked in as well.  I noticed he wouldn’t look at me, like he was avoiding me, but I guess I was just imagining things, so I decided to focus on what the teacher had to say.  Before the class ended, Mr. Griffin told us that we had a school trip on Monday and we had to get these forms signed. After I got my form, I said goodbye to April and went home, hoping my father would allow me to go out tonight.
