Liam POV

1689 Words
My dad called me to come and create a new image for the company. I hate it almost as much as I hate this town. I left because it was the only way I could do my freelance photography. That and to get away from my cheating ass ex-girlfriend Sara, who works for my dad. I'm walking down the street realizing nothing has changed since I left. I don't pay attention when I run into someone. She drops her purse and all the continents spill out. She drops to start picking everything up. She looks up and can't believe what I'm seeing. She was so perfect. Her smile is so soft. Her face is beautiful. Her frame is exactly how I like my women. Her black hair falling perfectly on her shoulders. Her fair brown skin almost shines and her light brown eyes just make it all better. Me: Uhh....hi. Girl: Hi. Sorry I'm so clumsy. She laughs, making me like her even more. I help her gather her things and hand them to her. She shows me her beautiful smile again. Girl: Thank you. Me: No worries. Umm....may I know your name? Girl: Melanie. And yours? Me: Liam. Melanie: Well, I have to go before I'm late to work. It was nice meeting you, Liam. Me: Nice meeting you too. She rushes off. I can't take my eyes off her. I hope I get to see her again. She's remarkably unforgettable. I stopped by my sister, Gwen's place. I hadn't seen her since I came back to town. We were always close. She tells me she is on her way to buy groceries, so I decide to join her. Leaving the apartment, I ran into my dream girl. Melanie: Liam? Is that you? Me: Melanie! Hey. How's it going? What are you doing here? Melanie: I'm OK and I live here. What about you? Me: Same. Just visiting my sister. Melanie: This is your sister? Me: Yeah. Gwen, this is Melanie. She looks at us like she can't believe it. Suddenly, a guy appears and wraps his arm around Melanie's waist. Should have known she'd be taken. He gives my sister an evil eye and then me. Melanie: Kai, this is Liam and his sister-- Kai: Gwen. Me: Do you have a problem with my sister? Kai: Actually I do. She-- Melanie covered his mouth and was practically shooing him away. When they are out of sight, I look at my sister. I start walking and she follows. Me: Explanation. Now! What's he got against you? Gwen: I may have been with Niko and Damien when I found her. Me: Found her? I still can't believe dad gave him the ransom money to free you. He should be dead. Gwen: He'll get what's coming to him. But yeah, she was sneaking around a back alley at like 1am. So they wanted to have fun with her. I may have scared her, but I would never have hurt her. She's adorable. You know my type. And she is perfect. Me: Unfortunately, I do know your type. Your type is my type, so back off this one. Gwen: Technically, I saw her first. Me: Gwen, please let me have this one. If it doesn't work out, you can make your move then. Gwen: Fiiiinnnneeeee. Big baby. Liam, I'm not gonna lie, this low-profile s**t is annoying. Me: You know we can't stand out, or we'll be found out. Just keep the s**t up. Gwen: I know. I know. We made our way to the store. She goes and picks up ingredients for dinner. I waited by the checkout for her to finish. I asked Gwen to be able to have a chance with Melanie. I'm not one to judge people, but he's not right for her. Gwen checks out and we head home. I stopped by my dad's company to see what direction he wanted to go with the new design. After visiting my dad, I stopped by Gwens. I ended up spending the night. I wake up around six in the morning. I always enjoyed watching the sun rise and taking pictures of it. I'm in the middle of a nice shot when I spot Melanie coming up the stairs. I smile at her. Me: Hey Melanie. Melanie: Hi. She seems to just brush me off. Like she had been crying. Next thing I know, I grab her arm. She stops and stares at my hand. I snatched back right away. Me: Sorry. Is everything OK? Melanie: I'll be fine. Me: Would you like to grab a coffee? It's on me. She's hesitant but agrees. I'm borrowing my dad's Mercedes until my car arrives. I opened the door for her, then got into the driver's seat. I ask her to put her seat belt on and she does. We drove to my favorite coffee shop. After getting the coffee, we went for a walk in a park nearby. We're talking and the topic of IT comes up. I tell her about my dad's company, Eleco, which apparently her fiancé works at. My heart feels like it just broke in half hearing the word Fiancé. Meaning their bond is deeper than I thought. He's not just a boyfriend or close male friend. She asks about my family and I tell her the only family I have is my sister and dad, since my mom passed away. She looks shocked and upset. Melanie: So your mom passed? I'm sorry to hear that. Me: It's OK and, yeah, it's been hard on all of us. Melanie: Did your dad get remarried or start seeing anyone? Me: Nah. My dad's old school. He and my mom were married for 40 years. He thinks he's too old to find love again and chooses to stay loyal to my mother, dead or alive. Melanie: Awww. I want a marriage like that. Me: Me too. After the walk, we head back to the car and I drive her home. I see her off at her apartment and then head back to my sister's. I enjoyed my time with her. I spent the night at Gwen's again. I'm getting fresh air outside when a cab pulls up. Melanie got out looking upset again. She stops and looks at me, forcing a smile. Melanie: Hey Liam. Me: Hey Melanie. You ok? Melanie: Actually no. I'm not OK at all. Me: Want to talk? She nodded her head. She forced a smile, and we headed up to her place. When we enter, everything is pink. Like I mean everything. Only a few black items, but you get the point. Melanie: My best friend a.k.a my roommate loves pink. Me: She really loves pink. Melanie: She does. Once the coffee finishes brewing, she brings over the cups with cream and sugar on the side. She sits down and starts fidgeting with her cup. I can see whatever is bothering her is something serious. Me: So what did you want to talk about? Melanie: Ummm. How are you today? Me: Uhhh....I'm good. But that's not what you wanted to talk about? Something is upsetting you. So tell me. Me: Do you know someone named Sara? The mention of her name boils my blood. I loved that girl enough to want to marry her. She broke my heart when she slept with my dad's assistant. I soon realized she just loved money. And I was just a moneybag until she realized I didn't live off my father's wealth. So she moved onto the next best thing. His assistant was the next richest person there. She would have been kissing her job goodbye if she had tried to come on to my dad. Me: She's my ex-girlfriend. Melanie: May I ask why she's an ex? Me: She cheated on me. Melanie starts crying. I don't get why she would cry about that. Then it hit me that her fiancé had just got a promotion. So most likely, if he's her age or close to Sara, she has already attempted or succeeded in seducing him. I know that my dad never hired a new assistant after Mark. Me: He just got that promotion if i remember right. Melanie: Yeah, promoted to the head of the IT Department a few months ago. Fuck! Yeah, she definitely sunk her claws into him. She didn't care Mark had a wife and kids. Once the money stopped, she outted him to his family and my dad saying he forced himself on her using his status. I feel bad and wrap my arm around her shoulder. She leans into it. I lifted her face up to look at me. Those beautiful eyes stare at me filled with so much sadness. I want to take it all away, if even for only a second. I leaned down and kissed her. Her lips are softer than I expected them to be. It dawns on me. This is someone's girl already. I stop kissing her. Instart pulling away. Me: Sorry I shouldn't have done-- She kissed me again. f**k! As bad as I want to, it's wrong and so does she. I know I need to pull away, but I just want to taste her a little longer. She grabs my face and slips her tongue in my mouth. f**k! OK, I have to stop this, or I'll lose control. I grab her face and make her look at me. I'm going to regret this, but I have to. For me and for her. Me: Melanie, don't become like him. You're a beautiful, smart girl. You know what the right thing to do is and this isn't it. I like you, and I'll leave it at that. I'll see myself out. Thanks for the coffee. Have a good day. I left the apartment. Hating myself for having morals, but I'll always stand by them. Hopefully everything works out for her. But I have to keep my distance before I fall harder than I thought for this girl. Also talk to my dad about getting rid of the Sara problem in his company.
