Our Anniversary

Today is our anniversary. I woke up to the smell of bacon. I looked over to see Kai already out of bed. I get dressed, brush my teeth, and head downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and find Kai making breakfast. I sat at the bar, resting my head on my hand, staring at him. He immediately notices me and brings me coffee and orange juice. I smile and he kisses me.
Kai: Good morning princess. Happy anniversary.
Me: Happy anniversary.
Kai: I have alot planned for today, so eat up because you'll need all your energy.
Me: Ok babe.
We eat our breakfast. Discussing the best and worst moments of our relationship so far. I can't believe the things we went through. But if it had still led me here, I'd do it all over again. We finish eating and head to the living room and watch TV. The doorbell rings and Kai gets up to answer it. I whipped around on the couch to see what was going on. He comes back in with a huge bouquet of roses and a box of chocolates. He holds them in front of his face, then slowly lowers them.
Me: OMG! When did you order this?!
Kai: This morning. For my lovely princess.
Me: Oh my gosh Kai. You didn't have to.
Kai: What kind of fiancé would I be to not get my girl anything for OUR anniversary?
I jumped up and ran into his arms. Almost crushing the flowers. I grabbed his face and gave him a kiss. He drops the flowers and chocolates on the couch to wrap his arms around me.
Kai: Come on. Let's go down to the lake and see it.
Me: Ok.
We ran upstairs and changed clothes, then headed down to the lake. I put on some blue shorts and a black tank top. Kai puts on some black swim trunks. No shirt. I catch myself staring in disbelief at his body. I've seen his six-pack many times, but I don't know why. Today it feels like I'm seeing it for the first time. His voice knocks me out of my trance.
Kai: Ready princess?
Me: Yep!
We grab some towels and head to the lake. We walked down the small pier to the lake. I was expecting a muddy or dirty-looking lake, but the water was crystal clear. I sit on the pier and dip my feet in. Kai comes running past me and jumps in. Water splashes on me and it's cold. He splashes water at me.
Me: Kai! Watch out!
Kai: Come in.
I ease myself into the cold water. I started making my way towards him. Once I get close enough, he pulls me towards him. He pulls me underwater. I kicked away from him and resurfaced. He starts splashing me again.
Me: Jerk!
Kai: Babe come back, or I'll keep doing it.
I swim back to the pier when I feel something grab my legs. I started frantically kicking my legs. Kai pops up out of the water. I splashed him and continued to the pier. I climb out of the lake and dry off. Kai gets out with me.
Me: So much for a nice swim together.
Kai: Don't be like that. I was just having fun.
Me: Well, I wasn't jerk.
Kai: I'm a jerk?! If I'm gonna be called a jerk, I might as well do a jerk thing.
I look at him funny. He wraps his arms around me. I refused to look at him. He lets go of me and walks away. He came back charging towards the lake and pushed me in. He follows me in. He swims up behind me and holds me close to him.
Me: I hate you so much right now!
Kai: No you don't.
Me: Yes i do!
Kai: Do you hate me now?
He kisses me on my neck. Over and over again. I'm not as mad. His lips feel so good against my skin.
Kai: Do you hate me now?
Me: Mmm.
Kai: I can't hear you.
He continues to kiss my neck. I swear if I was really mad he would just make it melt away. I can't help but let a moan out. He moves to the other side of my neck, working his way to my shoulder. He swims from behind me. He wraps his arms around me. He starts kissing my collar bone. f**k this man is going to drive me crazy, and I can't take it anymore.
Me: I'm not mad anymore.
Kai: Are you sure?
Me: Yes. Now can we get out of the water please?
Kai: OK.
I get out of the water and dry off. I go sit in a lawn chair and let the sun heat me up. Kai comes out shortly after. Drying his hair and body.
Kai: I'm gonna run to the store and grab stuff for dinner.
Me: Want me to come?
Kai: Nah. I'll be fine. You stay here and continue to look beautiful.
Me: Ok. See you in a bit.
We head inside to get changed. Kai gets dressed quickly and leaves. Thats weird. He left with no goodbye. No kisses, nothing. But it's our anniversary, so I won't think too much about it.
I was watching TV when suddenly the door burst open. I turn around to see a huge teddy bear's head peeping around the corner.
Me: Kai?!
Kai: Surprise!
Me: You almost gave me a heart attack!
Kai: I'm sorry.
He laughs. I got up to go see the bear. It's bigger than me. I take it over the couch so it's not in the middle of the floor.
Kai: I'm gonna go put the groceries up.
Me: I'll help.
Kai: No, you go back to watching TV. I got it.
Me: Did I do something to make you mad?
Kai: Wait?! Baby no. You could never make me mad.
I start pouting. He walks over to me and kisses me. I push him away, but it has no effect on him. He finally pulls away.
Kai: It's our day. But it's my job to make it special.
Me: Mine too.
Kai: Baby, you already made this special by you agreeing to marry me. I need nothing else. Now go sit.
He smacks me on the ass. When I look back, he's biting on his bottom lip. I go sit back down and continue watching TV. I sit there thinking of a way I can make today special. Then it hit me. I mean we will be planning our wedding soon. I mean this would be the best night next to our wedding night. The thought is making me nervous. But I think I can do it.
I texted Lilly asking her about a few ways I could make tonight special. She suggests makeup, a sexy tight dress, f**k me heels, and some lingerie. None of which I have. She sends another text saying to look in my suitcase for a pink bag. I ran upstairs and looked through my suitcase. Sure enough, there's a big bag in my suitcase with a note that says just in case. I laugh. How did I not notice this earlier? I sent a text saying thank you and telling her to have a good night.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, so I quickly closed the suitcase and got in bed. He walks in the room and looks at me.
Kai: What's wrong?
Me: Nothing. I was thinking it was just too early for dinner, so I was gonna take a nap.
Kai: Ok. I'll join you.
He starts taking off his shirt and I look away. He starts laughing. He gets on top of me and rolls over.
Kai: I love you Melanie
Me: I love you too babe.
I grab my phone and set an alarm for two hours from now. I snuggled up close to Kai. His embrace is so comforting. When we wake up, I'll be the one with the best surprise of all.
