Ep.17

“Emmalyn’s POV” Curiously, I directed my gaze towards the man laying on the floor. Tears began rolling from a corner of my eyes as it fell on Micheal, whose body was covered in blood. Multiple sizes of stab wounds were present on his body while both the corners of his mouth were torn brutally. Looking at his half-opened mouth, and blankly staring eyes, I could confidently say he was lifeless. It was like yesterday I fought with him and left this very room filled in anger. I wanted to seek his forgiveness. But, I couldn’t utter a word neither to seek forgiveness nor to console Maya, as if my throat was blocked. “Some armed men are entering the building. We should get out of here,” the driver spoke in a hurried tone. “No, I won’t leave Micheal here,” Maya refused. “They might come. Please obey. I don’t want to get murdered,” he kept pleading. Promptly, I heard heavy footsteps which forced me to hold Maya’s hand and pull her to stand up, “come, Maya.” “In order to find out who is behind all these and get justice for Micheal’s dead, we would be needing to survive. Just obey,” even though I kept her to come along with me, she wasn’t ready. “They aren’t after Micheal. They are after you,” the driver spat confidently as if he knew everything regarding me. “Why the hell they would be after me?” I asked while frowning. “All I could say is I am here to warn you as I knew everything long ago. Whether you want to survive or not, I need your help to save someone who is your own,” his words were making everything more complicated. As far as I knew, there was no one whom I could address as my own. Standing still, I was trying hard to puzzle out the meaning of the word. It’s when Maya pulled me towards the window, “if they are after you, you should flee from here.” Obeying their words, I climbed out of the window, and by jumping from roof to roof of different buildings surrounded the place, we managed to run. When we thought we were out of the goons sight, we entered inside a building and taking the stairs, we got down to the ground floor. “I can’t leave my taxi there. It’s my only source of income,” the driver spoke and began strolling towards our gang’s cave. “Have you lost it? What the fee you would do with your income if you are no more alive?” Yelling at the man, I held his hand and pulled away. “Please, let me go. I have a family to feed,” as the way those words rolled out from his mouth, his eyes turned moist. Hearing the word family, I couldn’t ask him anymore to leave the taxi. As he moved further forward, I and Maya went following him. Even though he was walking towards the devil's den, I didn’t dare to stop him.
