“Emmalyn’s POV”
Changing my seat to the front, I shouted, “get off you, ass. Driving like an uncle who is afraid to raise the speed.”
I held the steering wheel with one of my hands before getting on his lap.
“What the heck?” He asked fully nonplussed by the act.
“Just wait and see what surprises await you,” chuckling scornfully, I engaged my sight to the road and began increasing the speed from 70 to 120 mph.
“What the hell. Slow down. We would get arrested. It’s a public road...” even though the man kept yelling, I didn’t bother to hear his words.
Slowing a bit, I kept turning to change roads and get rid of both the jeeps following us.
However, the speed was a bit low than previously, the man didn’t stop. He just continued cautioning me while I was still sitting on his lap.
Well, it wasn’t anything romantic. In literal words, I had no such feeling. I kept wondering when I saw we left the jeeps behind. We were near my cave. My gang’s cave.
Even though I was missing my people, I decided to turn the car, it’s when I learned about the gathered amount of people near the building which pulled me there. It gave an unknown alert, so I got out of the car and marched towards that direction.
My heart stopped beating when I saw the dead body lying at the entrance of the building. It was Micheal’s closest buddy. In other words, he was our second leader.
Gulping involuntarily, I stepped further inside only to find multiple other dead bodies of our gang members laying here and there while the insides of the building were covered in blood.
Soon, I started to become nervous about Micheal and Maya. Hoping nothing bad had happened to both of them, I marched further inside.
The taxi driver too came following me. Turning the dead bodies to see each of their faces, I marched further inside.
Even though the blood-filled surrounding was making my stomach sick, I was too restless to know whether Micheal and Maya were alright.
Taking the stairs, I climbed floor to floor with a little hope I would be getting reunited with my both friends.
After searching every room on each floor, I was standing beside the only room left. It was the darkroom where my parent’s murderer was killed brutally.
Twisting the doorknob, I marched inside only find a girl was crying while her hands were wrapped around a body laying on the floor.
With a rapidly beating heart, I edged closer to her. Ceasing my steps bear her, I landed one of my hand on her shoulder. It’s when she turned around.
My heart skipped a beat when my eyes fell on the familiar face of Maya. She was soaked in blood while her eyes were puffy. Sobbing in grief, she wrapped her arms around me, “he is no more. He left me. I am all alone.”
