Sitting up slowly I looked around me. It was a small room with a bed made of sheets on the ground that I was laying on. There was a window to my front right and a door beside that to my right. Turning around I saw a small table against the wall next to another door behind me.
I got off the bed and froze. This dream was weird. In this dream I was in a little girl’s body.
Stretching I felt that she was in good shape but was very small. The attention span wasn’t too bad so by my guess she was five or six. Her hair was a deep red that went down to her waist. Bangs were cut at the eye brows and the rest was layered down to the tips. It had a slight curl to it that was more than waves but not so much as to be called curly.
Looking down and my hands I saw the same marks on her hands as were on my body. They were also covered in blood. Touching my chest I felt a crusty film over the flatness there. It was strange having no boobs after having them for so many years. I felt so small without them.
Breathing in I took a step to the door but felt to a knee. It was like this body wasn’t used to walking. Maybe the girl had been bed ridden and I was with her for her first few steps of walking after so long.
Thinking on it I didn’t get any back story. Usually when I had a question in this type of dream my head came up with the answer and gave it to me. This time it didn’t. There was no other story here except mine. There was no altirier motive, no drive to do anything in particular, nothing that was supposed to happen or have happen. There wasn’t even a glimmer of how I had gotten to the room other than my other dream. I didn’t know where the body was from before the room, only where I had come from before the room.
It was peculiar that the body had the same marks as I did from the other dream. Maybe I had brought the marks with me.
The door opened, distracting me from the thought process I was going through.
Kevin.
It was freaking Kevin that walked through the door.
He was different thought; his hair was long though it was the same colors. It was down to the middle of his back, braided. His clothes were strange. It was like he had come out of a differnet country. I couldn’t place which though.
“About time you got here.” He had a bowl with him and a rag, along with a small pile of clothes. “Here, wipe the blood off then get dressed. I’ll explain everything while you do.”
My mouth opened and closed a few times before I took the bowl and clothes. This was a very strange dream. I didn’t think Kevin would be in it. Seeing no point in asking questions I did as he asked. I would be awake in to time and this would be another dream.
When I crossed my legs and set the bowl in front of me he sat in front of me, next to the sheets and copied me. “There is one thing I want to make very clear and it may take you a while to believe me. This isn’t a dream.”
I paused with the small cloth over my hand. “Of course it is, I have dreams this real all the time.” My voice was very high, difinatly a young child.
He smiled and shook his head. “Nope, its real. Have you ever been able to not have any information of the dream in the dream?”
He hit my thoughts on the head.
“Well no, but there is different types of dreams. This could be one I haven’t experienced before.” I started scrubbing my hands and worked my way to my chest. I had similar clothes on that I did in the real world. It was a tank top and shorts. Everything had adjusted to this size, even the bra I had been wearing had adjusted to a training bra. I guess I had fallen asleep with it on. Oops.
He nodded and leaned forward. “Ok what about pain. You feel it like it’s outside of you. Your mind acknowledges that there is pain in the dream but your body doesn’t feel it.” He grabbed my hand and cut the type with a knife I hadn’t seen. Pain lanced through my hand. It wasn’t the well feeling either, it was sharp and there, not echoed.
Yanking my hand back I looked at him. “I’m not in my body Kevin.”
He smiled and took my finger back. He held his hand over it and blue light that hummed went over my hand. In a few seconds the cut was gone as was the pain. He gave my hand back. I had felt something like that before, but not to that degree. Searching for the name of what it was, I looked at my finger. Energy would be the best word for it. Soul energy.
“Welcome to the World of Naruto, Lilly.”
Looking him in the eyes, though he was much taller than me now, I glared at him. “What did you do?”
He laughed and sat back. “As I explain you get cleaned up, we have to be out of here in two hours.” Still glaring he gave me a look. “Just trust me.”
Sighing I went back to scrubbing. To my surprise neither cuts were hurting. “Fine.”
He gave me a grin. “I guess I will start with how you’re here. The necklace I gave you is a key of sorts that unlocks door ways to other worlds. Those worlds can be anything. When you enter that world the key takes your body and puts it to the age and strength that suits that world. At least in the beginning. The whole point of going to other worlds is to learn, that is the first rule of traveling. The second is that there is no overlap in the times. That means you can’t go back to a time that you have already visited. You can’t see yourself from this world.”
When he paused I cut in. “How is that even possible?” Even though I was still convinced this was a dream, there was no point in wasting such good story lines. When I wake up I will write this down in my dream book and later change it into an awesome book.
“I will tell you the beginning later. Its too big a conversation to have in one go. How about I tell you the guide lines of traveling and some do’s and donts. It helps a lot to know this when things get strange.” When I reluctantly nodded he continued. “Just for time’s sake ill make it short. I want to leave sooner than two hours.” He paused and his face became very serious. “This world is real, just like your world is real. If you die here, youre dead. No exceptions. Got it?”
Chewing my lip I nodded.
“Good. Second, all rules of reality are the same for each world. That means if you can do something in this world you can do it in other worlds. There are limitations of course but it is possible. The people of one world may do something differently or not at all but that is normally because it was falsified sometime in their history. Like in your world magic was weakened by misused or neglect. In fact there are hundreds of thousands of people there capable of using magic, talking to the dead even flying but they don’t know it because of the history of your world.” He paused and turned around. “Changed your clothes, I’ll continue.”
“Um ok?” I started pulling through the small pile to see what I had.
“There are rules though that each traveler must follow. The first being, don’t reveal the strengths you have gotten on missions in other worlds if it isn’t similar to the strength you have. If possible, change it so it’s similar to that worlds. Second always research all about the world before entering it. It’s critical to blend in without fail. Getting caught and making a lie that would affect that worlds time line is frowned upon.”
While he was talking I was putting on clothes. They were a dark blue that contrasted against the bodies red hair beautifully. There was a blue take top with a black vest that had lace down the back, it had ties that made if fit me well. With that I wore a black skirt with a white liner what wasn’t that long and was slit up the sides. Under that I wore black shorts that kept my unders from showing. Everything fit perfectly but there was more. It looked like he got me gloves and stockings and a piece of cloth that I couldn’t find out what to do with. It was black too and fairly long. It almost looked like a scarf but it wasn’t long enough for that. And there were little clips on the ends and little ropes on the inside and out of it.
“You can turn around.”
He rotated and looked me up and down. I hadn’t put on the last three items. “Wear all of them for now. The gloves are to cover the marks on your hands, your shirt covers your central one so we don’t have to worry about it. The tight things are just so you feel better with your boots on. Put them on.”
I did as he said, even though the body wasn’t responding very well. After seeing me struggle with the gloves for a few moments he moved closer and grabbed it from me. Bunching it up he made the hole where all my fingers went in together easy to get to. I moved my thumb in its lonely place once my fingers were in place. It was cut off at the base of my fingers.
It went up pass my elbow but held firm to my arm. He took the black thing and motioned me to turn around. It took a few seconds but I had by back to him. He put it around my throat and tied it. It rested against my collar bone, not too tight. TO my surprise he grabbed me and turned me around. It was like he hand no trouble with it.
He pulled it over my nose and mouth. It was soft against my skin. Looking at me he smiled. “You look great. This is just something to keep the dust out of your mouth or poison or smoke. You don’t need to wear it all the time but its useful to have when you need it.” He pulled it back down and grabbed my shoulders. Next to him I felt so small. It was strange being in a child's body again after being so used to in an adults. “I want you to know that I chose you out of all the millions of people I could have because I know that this is what is best for you. You can live for thousands of years and learn so much. It may be hard in the beginning but it’s so worth it.”
I tilted my head to the side and laughed. “You almost sounded grown up there Kevin.” It sounded strange hearing my voice go so high but it was funny how I still sounded like me.
He smiled and let go of my shoulders. “Well in some certain situations I will have to be. Listen how about we start walking to our next stop and we’ll talk on the way there.”
“Where are we going?” I tried to stand up again but something is off. It was like the connection between my brain and body was going off and on. Kevin gave me a hand up and went to the closet. He handed me a pair of leather boots that were tall. With that I started putting my stockings on.
“Celcine, Capitol of Attanya.”
I froze with half of the stocking on. “What?”
He looked down at me while he grabbed two packs from in the closet. They looked full. “We are in the world of the Attanya, a story written by someone from your world. It is a real world, just as real as your world is to me. I know you’ve read it; all those characters you thought were made up are real people. You’ll be going to school with them, learning from them. This is your first journey and it’s with these people.”
I started pulling up at the stocking again. “I’m in a movie?”
He shook his head. His hair was pulled back neatly, only his bangs were out. “It was re-written into a movie however it was put into a movie in your world because the people there viewed what is done here as unrealistic. Putting it into a computer and having it work out what it looks like is easier than training actors in how to do it. They are real people.” Sighing he looks down at me with a slight smile. “The book is accurate while the movie is changed. Mind you, this is the book version rather than the movie. Much more dramatic.”
I look at him strangely but start to put my boots on. They are a perfect fit. “Ok, then doesn’t my being here change the path of the future of this world?”
He shook his head as he put his bag on. “No, the necklace is one of the greatest artifacts ever invented. It has already accommodated for and will proceed as planned. What viewers read is what is made. You will never be in the shots that they see but forever in the background on the world in the written story. It’s as simple as that.”
I would have to think that one through and ask more questions later. “How do you know that I will even be accepted into the College?”
Smiling he opens the door. “Because you already are, they’re expecting us in a few days’ time.”
“How?”
Slowly following him out the door, I make my way down the hall on wobbly legs. They were having trouble listening to me and it didn’t help having a pack on.
“I came here in before Melody’s time. I thought it was a good place to learn so I planned you being put in this time. I have my ties so I could get you anywhere.”
Shaking my head I stop. There are people out here. They look like they were having a meal at a long wooden bar. “What time is it?”
He shrugs and goes ahead of me. “About eight in the morning, we’ll get some food on the way. I think you seeing the world as soon as possible would be a good idea.”
