The both of us froze the moment we heard that voice. We waited for a little moment to make sure whoever had said that was gone, to make sure he wasn't coming anywhere towards us.
Once we were certain that we were safe, we began moving again, but that clarification did nothing to calm the furious pounding that had resumed in my chest.
It was at at moment that I remembered something. I had been in this situation at the academy, after being ganged up by a group that beat the crap out of me and were keeping me hostage so they could inflict more harm on me.
