I stare at Kai, my heart pounding as he stands there.
Why did he help me? After everything I did to him, why would he step in like that?
Maybe he still feels something for me. The thought flickers through my mind, but then doubt crashes in. I remember how I turned him down, over and over, each time more humiliating than the last.
