The beginning of the end
I’m not the princess, the queen, none of that. I’m not even technically the help. I’m the help’s daughter. My father is a guard for the head of a criminal empire. I shouldn’t be here. I probably wouldn’t except my mother died in childbirth. At the time the boss was still married to his first wife and because she had twins and a big heart she accepted me into her home to be raised alongside her children.
Valentina is the oldest by a whole five minutes and Victor well I promise we’ll come back to him. The home is huge it’s not a house it’s a mansion. There are all kinds of staff, maids, drivers, cooks, and of course the guards. The guards all wear black suits with crisp white button downs and red satin ties. They all carry handguns. My father Frank is one of the guards. He’s in a top position almost exclusively guarding the big man himself Raphael Ramini. He’s the boss the one in charge. The alleged leader of a criminal empire never convicted. He’s also on his fifth wife. Tragically his wives have all met tragic ends.
I’m 18 and my name is Frankie. Get it the female version of my dad’s name. I don’t mind. I love my father.
It’s a weekday morning which means I have to go to my stupid rich kid private school but first I need coffee. I’m close to the kitchen which I have to tell you has an echo. I can hear Raphael’s current wife Ginnifer hitting on Gio one of the many guards. Gio is 28, tall, muscular and has so many tattoos. He has the front of his neck covered both hands and both arms. He may have more but that’s all I’ve seen. Ginnifer is a former beauty queen who has had lots of work done. Fearing for Gio’s safety I rush into the kitchen and kiss him on the cheek. He’s not the one coming on to her but depending on how this plays out it could end very badly for him. Raphael is a jealous man and his enemies have a way of disappearing.
