Chapter 2

    The next morning the sun was shining through Symphony's open window. She grumbled as she woke up and got out of bed.  There was a slight breeze in the air but other than that it was going to be a beautiful day.  She made her way to her bathroom when she smelled the waffles her mother had made. Do I go eat first or shower she thought to herself.  She decided on showering first and threw on a dark red sundress matched with silver heels.  As she made her way downstairs her stomach started rumbling. I guess I should've eaten first Symphony sighed.  She made her way to the kitchen and saw her mother just finishing up the waffles. Her mother handed her a plate before calling down the rest of her family,6 in all.  As symphony ate she saw her father and 3 brothers walk in the kitchen. "why does Symph always get to eat first?" Her older brother Max asked "Because she was up before you sleepy heads" Her mother replied with a smile.    Symphony had finished her breakfast and was headed out the door to make her way to school when her mother stopped her "Don't forget your lunch sweetheart" her mother said handing her a paper bag and giving her a kiss on the cheek "Thanks Mom you're the best." 

    Symphony made her way down her long driveway and was stopped dead in her tracks. At the bottom of the drive waiting in a black 1967 Chevy Camaro was Raine.  Her mouth hit the ground when she saw him and he chuckled.  "Don't be flatter" Symphony said to him "I'm drooling over the car" Raine laughed and asked her if she needed a ride.  Reluctantly she climbed in and admired the condition of the car. "Now I know you weren't going to try and walk to school in those heels" Raine said eying her shoes "I've worn heels before and made the walk, its not to bad" she said with a smile.  "Where did you find this car and in such good shape" "My father and I redid it before he died" Raine replied. Smirking to himself that she knew her cars.  "Thank you for picking me up this morning too" Symphony said to him "Although you didn't have to. I also wanted to apologize to you for yesterday. I know you were just being nice and trying to stick up for me but I really can handle myself. That is nothing I'm not used to and its not as bad as it used to be."  The rest of the ride to the school was silent besides the noise of the radio. Raine was silently fuming over what Symphony had told him. How could people be so cruel to a sweet and kind person like her.  Raine was still lost in his thoughts when they arrived at school.  

    As they pulled into the parking lot the crowd of kids that stared was incredible.  Symphony was a little uncomfortable when she went to get out of the car and Raine stopped her. "What" She asked "I just wanted to tell you that you look beautiful today. You should dress up more often" Raine replied as he got out of the car. Her face had gone completely red and she was stunned. No one had ever complemented her like that and there was something in the way he said it that made her whole body tingle.  She was so lost in her own world that she hadn't noticed Raine had opened the door for her and was waiting with his hand out to help her out. She hesitantly took it and got out of the car.  The stares and whispers around her just got 100 times worse when the kids realized that she was the passenger.  

    They made their way into the school but not without incident. That was until her ex, Mick, stepped in their path. Symphony could have sworn she heard a low growl come from Raine but just ignored it.  "What do you want Mick" Symphony asked sounding annoyed "I really don't have time to deal with you this morning" "Just wanted to congratulate Raine here it seems he managed to get in your pants faster than I could" Mick said with a smirk.  Raine wanted to beat the crap out of this guy, who did he think he was to talk to an Alpha and future Luna like that.  As Raine started towards him Symphony grabbed his arm as if to say just ignore him but what she did next shocked the hell out of him.  She slowly walked up to Mick looking like she was going to kill he and he stumbled back. She grabbed his arm and pulled him just inched from her face and said something to him to low to be heard by others. He just stood there dumbfounded and as she went to walk away he opened his mouth again "Really Symph that's the best you got.  I was the best you had and you know it."  Raine saw Symphony's face before she turned back around, her eyes were no longer the baby blue but a dark black, it scared Raine which seldom happened.  She slowly turned around and you could have heard a pin drop.  SMACK!!!! Symphony landed a slap on Micks face so fast that no one saw it coming. He hit the ground and had a red welt on the side of his face and his lip was bleeding. "I have told you once to stay away from me Mick and keep your mouth shut I am not repeating myself. Next time you're dead" Symphony said as she turned back and headed toward homeroom.

    Raine stood there stunned.  He had never seen anything like that before. He did know one thing Symphony defiantly wasn't human but what was she?.  He had followed her to homeroom after that and found her sitting in the back row with her head down. She was shaking and after what he had just saw he was surprised.  "Hey Symph, are you ok?' he asked as he sat down next to her. She slowly lifted her head and just stared at him. her eyes were back to their normal blue. "Why do you care? How are you not terrified after what you saw?" she answered his question with another question.  Raine just stared at her unsure of how to answer her.  She just rolled her eyes at him and put her head back down today was going to be one of those days she thought to herself.

    The rest of the day went without a hitch. People ignored her which she liked, even Raine kept his distance. The last class of the day was History with Mrs.H. They had a quiz which wasn't to bad. Symphony finished hers and turned it in. As she made her way back to her seat she was tripped by Mick. Does this jerk ever learn She thought to herself as she stood back up.  She turned to look at Mick who had a smirk on his face.  Her eyes were back to black again and she said "I've warned you Mick this time you're dead" he was unfazed and just laughed at her.  She stormed out of the classroom and heard a comotion as she headed outside.  She turned around and saw Mick lying on the ground with Raine on top of him beatng the crap out of him like his life depended on it.   She didnt even bother to stop him this time. She made her way to Raines car.  She didn't have to wait long for him to come out and look at her.  "I think we need to have a talk Symphony. And you know why." Raine said, he didn't even look at her when he got into the car.  She shrugged and got in the car after him.  The ride was silent for the most part. "Where are we going?" she asked Raine "somewhere quiet to talk" and then back to silence.
