CHAPTER 9

ANITA POV “Mum I swear it wasn’t me who broke the vase. It was Hannie.” “Shut up, you ungrateful child. Do you think I will really listen to every word that comes out of your mouth?” “But mu….” “Don’t mum me. I regret being your mother. I don’t want a liar as my child.” I watched her leave. “Now you see what I have been saying. No one will ever believe you. You are just a low class omega who is not even close to being important. So, who is going to believe you anyway?” I shouldn’t have forgotten that harsh teaching of my sister. I should have known that whatever happens, no one is ever going to believe me. I am the one being lied to, yet no matter how I try to explain myself, it is useless. An angry and sad tear dropped from my eyes. No matter how I try to explain myself, I know he won’t believe me, so why even bother. I opened my mouth and said the words I was always forced to say. “I am sorry it won’t happen again.” Alpha Zain released my chin and went back to seat on his chair. “From today, you will only take care of my son at home. I will assign a driver to take him to school and bring him back. I won’t want what happened today to repeat itself ever.” he said. “Okay alpha. Can I go now?” I asked softly. He raised his hand and sent me away. I slowly walked out of his office and went back to my room. I locked the door so that Kinn won’t come in. The moment I lay on my bed and hugged my pillow, I began to cry. I let out all the frustration I felt for not being able to defend myself and speak the truth. I let out the anger of people not believing me only because of my status. I cried out because I hated it when people never took my own side of the story. I lay on the bed, crying till I couldn’t cry anymore. “Nita are you okay?” I heard a knock on the door. I cleared my throat quickly as I left the bed. “Give me a minute.” I rushed to the bathroom and washed my face. Can’t let him notice that I cried or else he would know something happened. After cleaning my face, I opened the door and put on a fake smile, which dropped when I saw him holding a tray, which looked heavy for him. I quickly helped him by collecting the tray from him. “Why did you bring this here?” I asked him. “You didn’t come down to bring lunch, so I brought you something to eat.” he smiled. The way this kid behaves, I sometimes doubt if truly Alpha Zain is his father. They don’t act alike except for their similar looks. “I hope you have eaten something?” I asked as I shut the door. We walked to my bed and sat on it. “I have eaten. This is for you.” he smiled. A loud growl intruded our discussion. I looked at his stomach and smiled. “Well I think a dinosaur just ate all the food in your stomach, and now you are hungry again. Come on, let’s eat together.” I said while he blushed. As we ate together, he told me everything his teacher taught him in school and how he played with his friends. He apologised for not being able to show his friends to me. “I can see them any other day. You don’t need to apologize to me. I am so happy you had fun in school. Do you have any assignments? I can help you with them.” I said to him. “Yes I do. I will go get them now.” he jumped from my bed. “Meet me in the living room. I will help you with it there.” I said before he ran out of my room. I can’t do it in my bedroom because I didn’t want his father to accuse me of harming his son in secret. I picked up the empty plates and took them to the kitchen. As I entered, I saw Clara cleaning the kitchen. I dropped the plates and began to wash them. “You don’t need to do that. I can wash them myself.” she said as she tried to stop me. “I can do it. Besides it’s my little way of thanking you for the meal.” I smiled. “I knew he was going to give you some, which is why I put a lot on his plate for the both of you.” she smiled at me for the first time. “Thank you.” I said. “You don’t need to thank me besides I am only doing my job.” she replied. “NITA WHERE ARE YOU? AM DOWNSTAIRS NOW.” I heard Kinn calling. “I have to go now.” She smiled again before I left. I feel like she is trying to be nice towards me, which makes me happy. I joined Kinn, and we started his homework. “Wow Nita, you are so good at arithmetic. You know the answers so well.” Kinn praised me. Although I am an omega, academically, I am really good. And because of that my parents didn’t allow me to finish my studies. To them, it is a waste of resources. “I don’t want you to fail. I will teach you any subject you find difficult so you can pass all your subjects.” “Thank you. Thank you. Thank youuu. I want to be at the top of all my classmates, and I want daddy to always be proud of me.” he said. “You will be the top in no time. I know you will because you are intelligent.” I gave him my fist, and he bumped his fist to mine, making me smile. I helped him with his other assignments. And we were done in no time. “Alright little man, it’s time for your nap. You need to rest your brain.” I said as I put his books back to his school bag. “Can I play with you for a while?” he pouted. “Not going to work on me, you little mischievous cutie. When you wake up, I promise you that you will play.” I promised him. “I will go and sleep only if you join me.” he said. “But it is your bedroom. I can’t join you. Besides, you are a big man who can sleep alone.” I said. “I can’t sleep without you. I want you to read me a bedtime story. Pretty please, Nita.” he begged. I couldn’t win against this kid no matter how much I tried. So I reluctantly agreed and followed him to his room. I laid him on the bed and told him a bedtime story. In no time, he slept. On my chest. I tried to get him off me, but he held my hand so tightly that it was hard to escape. I had no other choice but to wait till he lost his grip before I could leave. I admire his room and observe every little detail of the room. Then I let out a yawn. I fought the sleep that clouded my eyes. I kept fighting to keep my eyes open, but I lost the battle. I was almost getting deep into my sleep when I felt sparks on my forehead. My consciousness was telling me someone was touching me. But I was so lazy to open my eyes to see who it was. As long as the sparks felt good and it didn’t feel like a threat, there is nothing to worry about.
