Velma stopped as her hand touched it and she move back changing her mind, it will be too easy to let him die like this. She has to let him feel the same pain she made her go through and make him suffer in return before ending his life.

She stepped away and went to get some water for herself, she only took some snack for lunch after being starved for a few days and hasn't had dinner.

Velma poured the water down her throat and dropped the cup noisily staring digger at Edith and suddenly slaps him hard across the face remembering the way he hit her before forcing the bottle down her stomach.

She stepped out of the room to relieve her anger and bumped into Susan in the hallway.

"What are you doing here?" Velma asked surprised and the two hugged each other excitedly

Susan is like a younger sister to Velma and Silas's younger sister.

"I heard about your husband, is he doing fine now?"Susan said concerned but Velma smiled and told her not to worry about it

"And you?"

"My brother fainted and was bought to the hospital" Susan told her and Velma is surprised to hear that Silas is sick

She didn't come to visit Edith in the hospital at all in the past so she didn't get to meet Susan which must be why she didn't know that Silas fell sick around that time too.

"What happened to him? What did the doctor say?" She questioned

"I guess it's because he has not been feeding well and kept drinking nonstop, I really have no idea why he suddenly became like that" Susan answered sadly but Velma knows why.

She was not aware of Silas's feelings for her in the past and only became aware much later when he came to take her away from the Maddox house and protect her for a few months.

"Where is he now?" She asked Susan

"Are you not going to stay with your husband?" Susan asked when she turned to leave with her

"He doesn't deserve it" she replied and goes to visit Silas.

Silas opened his eyes when he noticed someone else is with Susan and is surprised to see Velma who he hasn't seen in a year.

"Why are you here?" He asked and wanted to stand up from the bed but she held him back

"Don't stand up, you will only strain your body" she told him and felt relieved to see his face again.

Silas was out of the country when she got married to Edith and didn't see her again for almost five years, looking at him again bought back those memories and Velma couldn't help but hug him

"Velma" Silas muttered and also hugged her.

Susan immediately steps away from the room to give them some space to talk.

"I can't believe you are here" Velma said and pulls away then sat down closely next to him.

Silas chuckled seeing the worried look on her face and caress her hands.

"You are really here, it's not a dream that you are here" he said weakly and hugged her again.

"I shouldn't have left the country and let you get married to him" Silas voiced while Velma shook her head.

"Its fine" she said knowing that he is not yet aware that she knows of his feelings and doesn't want him to know either.

"I heard about what happened to your husband and became worried but I couldn't reach you and thought something bad had happened"

Velma thought on his words and remembered the lawyer's words also, the both of them claimed they couldn't reach her and she has her phone on at all time.

There is only one explanation for that, someone purposely blocked their number on her phone to prevent her from communicating with her.

"Why don't you try calling me now?" Velma said and called out Sue's number for him

"This number belongs to my friend but I will get a new phone soon, you can contact me here for now" she told him and he quickly save it.

"I heard you fainted because you refused to eat, do you want me to make you something?" Velma offered and Silas immediately agreed

"Let's leave now, I actually craving for something right now" he said excitedly

"Okay" she said and he called Susan back in who is surprised to see him look so cheerful in a few minutes.

Silas called out to the doctor to discharge him and together they head to his place to get dinner.

Velma got a call from Felicia when she arrived at Silas's place but ignored it, she entered the kitchen and with the help of Susan prepared a feast and settled down to eat.

Silas cleared the dishes when they are done and Velma decide to leave after that but he asked her to stay back, she agreed and the two decide to have a bottle of wine together.

"It has been so long since we sat down to drink together like this hasn't it?" Silas asked while enjoying some good wine and Velma agreed with him

She lost track of herself and who she was when she got married and suddenly became a full housewife despite her reluctant to.

"How is your husband doing?"

"He is recovering fast unfortunately" Velma said not able to help herself and immediately laughs to make it seem like a joke.

"Is he treating you well?" Silas asked in a low voice.

"He is a bad person" Velma answered and sees the anxious look in his eyes.

"But not anymore, I will make sure he begs for his life" she told him

"You are not going to do something dangerous are you?" Silas asked more worried gearing her words.

"If things are difficult with him then you can come to me, I will do everything I can to help and protect you" he said staring deep into her eyes but Velma quickly turned away.

She might be aware of his feelings for her and knows he truly wants to protect her but she doesn't want to play with his feelings, she doesn't have any feelings for him in the past and still doesn't like him now at least not in a romantic way.

"You just need to trust me, I won't allow anyone to trample over me any longer" she told and held his hand across the table

Silas is confused at her words but smiled and held her hands even tighter then he made to kiss her.

Velma immediately understood his action but didn't turn away, since she died wasting her life for another man it might be best if she give in to a man who truly loves her.

With their lips an inch apart, Velma closed her eyes expecting his lips to touch hers anytime soon but her phone start to ring interrupting them and she turned away from him to pick the call.

"Sister, where are you? There is an issue with brother-in-law" Betty cried to her ears immediately she picked up the call and Velma dropped the call.

Edith was supposed to be in coma for the next few months before waking up and she doesn't remember him having and setback during this period.

"Why is something different from what I remembered happening?" Velma thought to herself and told Silas she has to leave.

"Let me drive you" he offered but she rejected and told him to rest at home

She head to the hospital in her car and soon arrived to meet Felicia and Doris at the hospital with Betty.

"Where did you go to after abandoning your husband?" Felicia flared up on her immediately she sees her

"How could you follow another man home when your husband is lying on the bed fighting for his life?" She continued ready to attack her but Betty quickly step in to stop her

"Aunt please calm down, I am sure sister didn't mean to leave brother-in-law lying at the hospital like that. She must have a good reason for leaving" Betty said pretending to defend her and turned to Velma.

"Sister, you should explain things to them so they don't misunderstand. Who was the man you left the hospital together with?" She questioned accusingly

Velma scoffed at her words not believing that she was blind to her fake care and fell into her traps over and over again.

"What man are you talking about?" Velma questioned, none of them was around when she left the hospital together with Silas so there is no way for them to know.

"About that, I came to the hospital to visit brother-in-law and I was told by the nurse that you visited earlier but left soon after with another patient" Betty explained and move closer to her.

"I am sure that male patient must be just a friend isn't that right sister?"

"Yes he is a friend" she told them but they refused to believe her

"Since when did you become friends with the young master of Brandon? Are you already planning to leave my son because he is sick to marry another man" Felicia shouted and the nurse had to approach her to lower her voice so they don't disturb other patients.

"Didn't you call me here because Edith has a setback?" Velma said turning to Betty who seems happy that her plan to make Felicia and Doris more infuriated at her is working.

"Ah did I say that? I just wanted you to hurry back to stay with him, everyone at the hospital already misunderstood that I am Mrs. Maddox and not you" she said trying to hold her hand but Velma pull away quickly

"We should have let Betty get married to brother then instead of her then maybe he wouldn't be in this bad situation that he is now" Doris voiced irritated at her

"I let her marry my son because her father spoke highly about her and lied to us that Betty is not his daughter, who knows that she is actually the bastard" Felicia hissed at her

Velma shake her head not believing that Betty will even go as far as lying about their real identity and decide not to take their insults anymore.

"Since you want the title of Mrs. Maddox so much then you can have it" Velma said to Betty who stood speechless.

Her sister is known to be persistent about things and would never let her have anything that belongs to her so easily so she has learned to snatch things from her by using this means and didn't expect her to easily give up on Edith.

"What did you just say?" Betty asked wanting her to repeat her words

"If you want Edith then you can have him, he is useless to me anyways" she said and everyone looked dumbfounded for a second.

"Velma, have you lost your mind? Is my brother a gift to be given away?" Doris attacked her

"You are right, your brother isn't even worth a gift" Velma responded

"You bad child, how come you say that about my son" Felicia also chipped in.

Betty stepped forward seeing their reaction and immediately start her usual self-righteous act.

"Sister what are you saying? Edith is just like a brother to me, I have never thought of him in that way"

"Betty, you don't have to explain. You have done so much already just to please this selfish sister of yours" Doris said

Velma laughed at their acts and couldn't hold it in, she wondered if they will continue to support her when they find out how much she actually disliked them and even got rid of them after getting married to Edith and continue to laugh.

"What is so funny to you?" Felicia questioned more annoyed to see her laugh

"You three are really suitable for each other, you should really live together" she told them and tried to walk away but Felicia pulled her back.

"I want you to divorce my son, immediately" she screamed

"Okay, I will divorce your son" she said and stride out of the hospital.
