Chapter 24 Jacksonville, FL THEY WERE HARDLY aware of it happening, but their little family established and quickly became accustomed to a routine. Chris left for the hospital at six thirty; then Mickey would walk Ted across the street to the Clarks’ house before he headed downtown at seven thirty. When Chris came home from work, he’d find Ted waiting for him on the Clarks’ screened porch. Sometimes he lingered and asked the Clark sisters how Ted was doing, other times he and Ted would thank them and head across the street.
