FIVE MONTHS LATER ✓
Sapphire has been wandering in the woods for the past two months, living on wide animals and planting seeds for survival. She finds a particular river to bathe, shielding her stomach from the eyes of prey - she made sure she never ran into any other werewolf to avoid complications.
She once got tired of meat and took blood instead, she got tired of it too, and wanted real food. She couldn't go to any nearby market because she would be known as a rogue and people would run away from her, she wouldn't buy what she wanted.
Once again, she had to tear off sacks from the ground, covering herself with them because of the rogue scent. She went to the market with the hope of getting some food to buy to quench her pregnancy appetite hormones. She had to trade one of her daggers to buy a little quantity of food since she had no money.
The food she bought sustained her for another two months and each day passes not without her thinking about Kyler. He would have probably been married to Arielle, and they would be enjoying their marriage since she was his taste - she wouldn't deny she felt jealous but she had her pregnancy to deal with, and she would try to forget about him now.
She was aware she was now a rogue and it would be very hard for her to be accepted into any pack she comes across, they would never accept a pregnant rogue and the situation will even get worse if they ever find out she came from the Red Crescent pack who has Alpha Kyler as their ruler.
Salsa sniffed in her head and she became alert immediately - trying to decide if she should change to her black wolf or remain as a human. She wouldn't be able to fight well in her human form and since no one knew her in the woods, she transformed into her wolf - trying to figure out what was coming.
Two wolves landed right in front, a gray one and an ash one - she knew the gray one was a male and the ash one was a female but what do they want? In the woods by the evening time? Were they looking for food?
She heard in the Red Crescent pack that rogues weren't out anymore - it was either they had been killed or they got accepted into another pack - it would be the first option because no pack accepts rogues without knowing the details of their backgrounds so they are often killed off.
This was one reason why she decided to stay in the woods for the meantime till she figured out what to do, she had to draft out her plan carefully if not for her, but for the baby inside of her. "Stop Ireland, stop!" The gray wolf transformed into a human and he turned out to be a very handsome young man.
His eyes were gray and he was mainly built, Salsa looked at him from the corner of her eyes - could he be trusted? The ash wolf also transformed into a beautiful young lady that would be around the same age as Sapphire. Her hair was long and wavy, her eyes were brown, and she had a small but cute petite body.
"We are not here to fight, we only perceived someone and thought you were a threat." The man explained, seeing that Salsa didn't transform back to human. "I've never seen a black wolf before?" The lady chipped in, looking all over Sapphire's wolf who quickly transformed.
Sapphire gasped slowly, trying to hide the fact that she was pregnant- she had been having some pains in her stomach for some days now, it comes and goes, and she doesn't understand what could be the cause. "She is pregnant!" The lady yelped, rushing to Sapphire who stepped back in doubt.
The lady's face fell at the doubt that radiated all over her face, "Don't worry, we are rogues too just like you." She said and Sapphire looked at them, sniffing hard - has her sense of smell dulled too because of her pregnancy? Sapphire nodded, yelping again. "How did you know I am pregnant?" She asked.
"I am a lady and the way your wolf stood was wrong. She was standing on two legs instead of the four, because she didn't want the baby bump to touch the ground and you were yelping in pain, you were suffering from werewolf's pregnancy cramps." She explained and Sapphire was surprised at her observance.
The man came too, giving the lady some leaves. "I am Ireland and my brother here is Orlean." She introduced, grinding the leaves against her palms. "What is this?" Sapphire asked when Ireland shoved it into her mouth while she was talking, "It is to reduce the cramps you are having." Ireland answered, dusting her hands and assisting Sapphire to stand up.
"We should head back to the pack, it's getting late," Orlean informed them, looking around for any suspicious thing, animal, or person around. "Pack? I thought you said you were a rogue." Sapphire was surprised, could she trust these? She questioned here, looking at them suspiciously.
Ireland understood her doubts, "We have a pack, it is called the rogue pack. You must have heard rogues getting killed right? Most of them weren't killed, we were brought together and we formed our pack." She explained and Sapphire nodded, fixing her clothes well.
She was surprised she could bend a little well now, "How did you know about the herb that reduced the cramps?" She asked and Ireland laughed, "I learned so much being a Rogue, we should head back now --" Ireland pointed out, "Sapphire...." Sapphire helped her complete her sentence - she wanted to know her name.
They headed out of the woods and it wasn't the normal way Sapphire knew about - they entered into a large land and there were tents all around the place with a very big house in the middle of it. "It's past dinner time, we will have our dinner in our room," Ireland said, holding Sapphire's hands.
Orlean suddenly stopped them, "How do we take her inside? With her pregnancy?" He asked and Sapphire looked at them, not understanding what he meant by ' her pregnancy ' - don't they allow a pregnant rogue? "Don't worry, they will accept her," Ireland assured and they headed into the house.
Some wolves suddenly jumped out of nowhere, surrounding them and Sapphire became frightened, holding her big bumped stomach possessively. "I thought you said they would accept me, why are they trying to fight?" She was scared because the wolf's faces were all directed towards her - they were seeing her as a rogue.
The wolves bowed, each stepping back when a heavily built man stepped in - he is their Alpha, the rogue Alpha. "Who are you and where did you come from?" His deep voice sounded and Sapphire felt her knees weaken, his voice alone was this powerful. No wonder fear was evident in their faces when he stepped in.
"We found her in the woods, she is pregnant and needs help, she is a rogue too." Ireland was the bold one, she was the nasty one too and it seemed she was determined to take Sapphire in with them, maybe because of her pregnancy.
The Alpha looked at Sapphire who quickly bowed her head down, she wouldn't want him to reject her again when she have no place to go and the cramps she was having were becoming severe that she wasn't sure if she'd be able to take care of herself all by herself in the woods - what if the time for her give birth comes?
Orlean was summoned by the Alpha, they talked for about twenty minutes. "That's our rogue Alpha, his name is Alpha Eame," Ireland whispered to Sapphire whose face was crumpled, the cramps were back again and she was trying hard to cover it up - she shouldn't be down now that they haven't accepted her.
"You can come in now, he has guaranteed your safety since you are a roguelike us." Orlean came back and Ireland nodded happily, she sensed Sapphire's grunts and crumpled face but waved it off. Ireland showed her to her room where she had two roommates while Orlean went his way back to the male's side of the house.
Sapphire was nervous when she entered the room, two unknown faces staring at her like she was a ghost. "Sapphire, meet Gonna and Diane." She introduced them to one another. Diane stood up and hugged her immediately, "Her skin is so white, she's beautiful." She said but stopped when a big bump stopped her.
"You are pregnant!!" Diane exclaimed while Gonna suddenly pushed her out of the way, wanting to touch the baby bump. "Is she kicking already? Oh my God! Your stomach is so big." She said, excitement washing all over her face. Sapphire laughed for the first time in five years, the way they were excited about seeing her baby bump was enough happiness for her.
Ireland went straight to her bed stand, her food was properly kept there, covered neatly - that was the job of her roommates because they know their friend was going to tear them apart if she doesn't meet her food, she could hate them because of food.
"Why are you a rogue?" ....."You are heavily pregnant, what about the father?" Diane and Gonna asked simultaneously which made the happiness on Sapphire's face wipe off instantly. She is a rogue because the father doesn't want her, he doesn't even know he would be having a child soon - she found it hard to explain to them but she did.
They hugged her sideways, "It's okay! You and your baby will be fine, we will take care of you." Diane said, "We can guarantee that!" Ireland chipped in with food in her mouth. Diane opened the door after someone knocked, it was Sapphire's delivered food.
Sapphire was guided to sit down by Diane and Gonna, they were already treating her like they said and she felt relieved she met with good souls. The aroma of the food penetrated her nostrils, and she began to dig in immediately, eating like she hasn't tasted food in a century understood, carrying a pregnancy without its father was hard work on its own.
They talked and talked into the night, Sapphire was the first to doze off. She felt her back relieved upon resting on a bed after five months of sleeping on dried leaves, tree barks, laid branches, besides the river and so many other places she couldn't even remember. "She has been through a lot and I know she is still going through a lot," Ireland said.
Sapphire grunted in her sleep, changing her side frequently. "Are you okay, Sapphire?" Gonna asked, they weren't asleep yet. "I have no idea! I can't sleep, it seems like my back is frozen." Sapphire whimpered a reply and they asked her to sit, she tried to halfway but she couldn't, and she fell back to the bed again.
"What's happening to her? Is it the food?" Diane asked, fear written all over her face already. Ireland ran her eyes around the baby bump, she gave her the leaves that reduce pregnancy cramps, why were the cramps increasing again?
Sapphire suddenly gave out a sharp cry and Gonna's eyes widened, "It is time for her to give birth, the babies are coming." She informed and they all became scared, none of them knew how to make a woman put to birth. No older woman in the pack would help them, they were all young girls and boys.
Sapphire screamed again, holding the clothes on the bed as blood ran down her legs. "I never knew it'd be this early, what do we do?" Ireland bit her lips, "Try to calm her down, I will go get some help." Gonna offered and without waiting for a reply, she dashed out of the room, screaming at the top of her voice, shouting for help.
Diane was asked to bring water, and Ireland began to mop Sapphire's legs, hands, face, and entire body. Her blouse was already up and Ireland could see some movements each time Sapphire screams. They were becoming more scared as blood gushed out from her genitals, "Where's Gonna for goddess's sake?!" Diane whimpered - their fear intensified when Sapphire gave a loud growl.
