Chapter 1
Betrayal in the Dead of Night
“Leng Yue, where do you think you’re going at this hour?”
Leng Rou’s cold voice shattered the silence of the lavish villa’s corridor.
Leng Yue stopped in front of the main entrance. She adjusted the red satin halter-neck dress that clung perfectly to her beautiful figure. Her gaze remained calm, not the slightest hint of fear in her eyes.
“None of your business, Rou.”
“You’re already married! Dressing like this shows absolutely no respect for Yancheng!” Leng Rou snapped as she approached, her chin held high.
Leng Yue turned around, a faint, mocking smile playing on her lips.
“Yancheng doesn’t seem to have a problem with it, so why are you getting so worked up?” She tilted her head. “You should actually be thanking me. Once I’m gone, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy yourself with him, won’t you?”
SLAP!
A sharp slap landed across Leng Yue’s smooth cheek.
But instead of crying out or reaching for her stinging face, Leng Yue merely gave a cold, contemptuous smile. Her gaze sharpened into something so piercing that Leng Rou instinctively took a step back.
“Watch your mouth!” Leng Rou snapped, breathing heavily. “Don’t dump your blind jealousy on me!”
“Jealous?”
Leng Yue let out a short laugh—a laugh filled with pure disdain.
“You two have been sneaking around behind my back since before this marriage even happened. Do you really think I’m that pretty and that stupid? Did you honestly think I wouldn’t know about your disgusting little game?”
“Show some respect! Remember your status as Fu Yancheng’s wife!”
Leng Yue folded her arms and looked her sister up and down.
“Then why didn’t you marry him in the first place?” she asked coolly. “Go tell the Fu family elders that you’re the one willing to be with Fu Yancheng. Then you two wouldn’t have to sneak around behind my back like cheap little thieves.”
“If it weren’t for our late parents’ ridiculous will naming you as the one who had to marry him, I should have been standing beside Yancheng!” Leng Rou admitted without the slightest trace of shame.
The measured sound of footsteps echoed from the staircase.
Fu Yancheng descended the stairs, dressed in a black shirt with the top buttons undone. His presence radiated an unmistakably cold, domineering aura.
Leng Yue stared at the man who was still technically her husband, her expression utterly impassive.
“Yancheng, since you’re both here, answer one question for me.”
She paused, her gaze steady.
“If you’d been given the choice from the beginning, who would you have wanted to marry? Me… or Leng Rou?”
Fu Yancheng stopped on the bottom step.
His gaze toward Leng Yue was ice-cold, devoid of even the slightest trace of warmth.
“I choose Leng Rou.”
He answered without hesitation.
“Our marriage was a mistake from the very beginning.”
Not a single tear fell.
Leng Yue’s heart might have been cold, but her resolve was far stronger than either of them had imagined. Instead of breaking down, she felt as though a weight had finally been lifted from her shoulders.
She was free from this ridiculous charade.
“Good.”
Leng Yue nodded slowly, then held out her hand.
“Then divorce me. Right now.”
A flicker of surprise crossed Fu Yancheng’s face at his wife’s composure, but it vanished almost immediately. He walked over to his desk, picked up the documents he had prepared long ago, and signed them without hesitation.
Then he tossed the papers onto the table in front of Leng Yue.
“Fine. I’ll give you what you want. As of this moment, we’re divorced.”
Leng Yue picked up the papers and signed her name with a firm stroke, without the slightest hesitation.
“We’re done.”
She turned and walked out, leaving the villa behind.
Leng Yue stopped by the old family villa to retrieve her personal documents. But within hours, poisonous rumors had already begun spreading throughout the city’s elite circles.
They painted her as an ungrateful wife who had stolen her sister’s place, only to turn around and abandon her husband.
When she returned to the Fu villa to collect the rest of her valuables, she found the master bedroom door slightly ajar.
Inside, Leng Yue saw Leng Rou straddling Fu Yancheng, the two of them tangled together in an intimate embrace.
Leng Yue felt no jealousy.
Only disgust.
She stared at the scene coldly for a moment before turning around and walking away without packing another thing.
To Leng Yue, trash was still trash.
As she walked into the darkness of the night, a vow took root in her heart.
“Fu Yancheng. Leng Rou.”
“Enjoy yourselves while you can.”
“When I come back, you’ll be the ones kneeling before me.”
