Chapter 1
BLAM! The gunshot sound rang through Larry’s ears and almost got them deaf. Mom, No!. Larry screamed. Well that's what he got a few minutes ago after the minor accident and after his uncle Damon shot his mom in front of him without feeling any remorse. Larry had opened his eyes to all these. And this memory remained plastered in his memory for a long period of time. ******* A few hours ago he had been in the dining room with his sister Lira planning to attend Auntie Ann's party and Mom would take them along. Larry was sixteen and a silly looking boy, he had a broad wide elbow and a tall build. He sat at the other side of the table with his sister Lira while they gulped the porridge mom prepared. Their mother moved between the stove and counter and she was humming a song under her breath. “The food mom prepared is delicious.” Larry said with his mouth filled with food. “Don't talk while eating,” his mom said without turning. “You think I raised you in an animal house.” Lira giggled. She was twelve and gap toothed and she was still young to think the world is a kind place to be. They had been on the road a few minutes after and Lira was in the back seat singing while their mother was driving and tapping her hand to the wheel following the beat. Larry remembered he was laughing. And he remembered what happened next when a large truck from nowhere collided with their car and everything began to spin in seconds. Their car rolled over several times uphill before it landed on a flat ground. Everything looked beautiful before it became b****y. Surprisingly, his mom was alive and she was struggling to set them free by unbuckling their seat beats and to pull them out. She was already half standing, Larry was half awake and he could still see her feet. She was trying hard to rescue him and his sister. Lira was still quiet and a pool of blood had formed round her head where he could see a jagged cut already there. He tried to move but he was pinned by the rubble when he suddenly heard footsteps. Alas! He thought help had arrived, but he was wrong. What he heard was his Mom's voice. Damon!, She called out in a small voice. But Larry noticed something beneath her voice and it wasn't relief, it was fear. Damon crouched by the door. “Well this is perfect timing,” he said, staring at the car like a spare product. “Damon please, save us , call the ambulance, the police, anybody.” His mother said, reaching towards him and shaking him slowly. He pulled her away and crouched lower so that Larry could see his eyes. “Give me the company and I'll let you live , all you just have to do is to sign the documents.” Damon said with a bitter voice. “You can't do this” Her voice came out slowly and breaking at the moment but she pushed out anyways. “The company is the only thing my husband left for his children and it's their inheritance.” “It's never your inheritance,” Damon screamed out in anger and pointed towards her. “It was the family's property and legacy and was never your husband's property to give away to some outside.” “He worked hard for it while you…” she spat out blood. “While you gambled away everything you touched.” Something seemed to move across Damon's face and Larry, who was not fully conscious, saw the expression for a moment. “This is your last chance.” Damon said quietly “No I'm not giving this out, it's mine and never….” The gunshot rang out before she could even complete the sentence. Lira screamed. Larry moved slowly and ignored the pain that shot through his ribs, he tried to reach his sister never knowing she was also awake to what his uncle did to his mom but she was already taken away. Damon's men pulled her out of the rubble while she fought and screamed and called his name. “Larry, Larry they're taking me away!” “Lira,” Larry screamed and tried to pull himself out but it was of no use. “Let her go! LIRA!” Damon turned back once and looked at Larry through the rubble and there was something like mockery in his eyes. “Be a man, boy you're going to really need it.” Damon said. Larry could never forget what happened that day and he would never forgive Damon for that. He left Larry to die, killed his mom and took his sister away just to be able to claim what belongs to his father. ****** ***Ten years later…….**” “I'm back mom, I'm sorry for not saving you from death.” A tear dropped from his eyes and he didn't try to stop it. It traced a kind down his cheek. He had chosen the cheapest stone the funeral home offered because it was all he could afford then. Now he could purchase the entire cemetery, but that wouldn't matter now would it? It can't bring his mother back and he knew it? Larry stared at his mother's tombstone and the memory of that night still lingered in his head. “I promised I would be there for you but I couldn't help you mom.” He touched the stone and his fingers spread across it like he could feel it. His father had died in a war, which Larry never understood even as a child and his mother was murdered by his uncle in cold blood. His sister was taken and he had heard whispers from reliable sources that she was alive and had been used in Damon's personal possession and as a leverage. Larry rose to his feet slowly and his knees ached, the graveyard was silent except for the wind that moved through the silence. It's been ten years of nursing wounds they never fully closed and fighting a battle that left him incomplete. He could remember vividly that night of the Accident, the police had come to his rescue, he was saved. He was above the age of adoption so he was recruited in an army school where he worked his way to the top. Due to his father's reputation in the army his mom was buried the best way she could. But Larry was hard working, he worked his way to the top and he was now the head of operations at special forces – a boss of his own with men at his beck and call. He had spent the entire ten years building himself into the worst person Damon would hate to see. He had everything now within his reach, money, power and men at his command. He told himself it was enough and his survival alone was a kind of victory against Damon He took one last look at his mother's grave and swore. “I'm going to get you justice mom.” He rose up with a stiff voice and wiped his tears with the back of his hand. He would hunt Damon down with his last breath till he saw him fall.
