Larry placed the camera in a low position, his hands shook as he did that.
He wasn't going to enter the mansion with full force.
He needed more time and needed to calculate his moves before making any attempt else he would get his sister killed in no time.
He was going to disguise himself.
Yes, as a servant.
He would do this to save his sister, she deserved more, to be honest and this is the only way.
It would take a lot of time but this was the best shot he had.
He would work on the floors and learn more about the house from the inside just as he had learnt about it from the outside.
Lira had to be patient with him.
He climbed down from the ridge and saw two of his guards Renner and Cole, they were already waiting by the truck.
"We are changing plans," Larry announced.
"Why the change?" Renner asked, suddenly frowning.
"I'm gonna disguise as a servant because I need to be inside to know more about the house, about my sister"
"That's insane," Cole screamed.
"You walking in there is just like taking a bullet to your skull, we should be attacking that place and not the other way round."
"If we attack that place my sister is going to die before we even got to save her, you know that" Larry's voice hardened.
"I've watched that house for three good weeks and I know the guards shift, the family, their habits but the only thing I don't know is what is happening everyday inside that building, and before I could destroy Damon and save Lira I need to be inside."
"What if you're recognised?" Renner asked suddenly.
"They won't, Damon' men have never seen my face and it's been ten good years since Damon saw me last, he could never even recognize me."
Renner exchanged a knowing look with Cole, none of them liked the idea but they knew no argument could change their master's mind so they agreed.
"Okay fine" Renner succumbed finally.
"But we do this properly and we take you in as a catch and not as a volunteer that makes it believable."
******
They dressed Larry up throughout the night, his hands were roughened, his hair was cut short and he was made untidy and unkept.
He looked exactly the way he was expected to look, a wanderer who got lost and was ready for any job.
The next morning they approached the estate gate, Renner and Cole already disguised themselves as forest guards.
The uniform was borrowed from one of Larry's close contacts.
They grabbed Larry's arm like a prisoner caught when trying to escape and dragged him along.
"State your business here?” One of the guards questioned as they approached the gate.
"We are from the forest patrol" Renner said
"We found this guy wandering past the tree and he was acting suspicious. We figured you guys are more expert in security detail and would want to question him before handing him over to the cops."
One of the guards narrowed his eyes and motioned to the other guard.
“Stay here” he ordered and radioed inside.
After one long minute the gate guard nodded and waved them through.
They dragged Larry across the gravel carpet and across the same garden path he had watched from the camera for the past three weeks, past the windows he had seen through the camera and found everything strange.
He nearly lost focus and thought about how his sister was able to survive this all these years.
Joshua came out and stood on the side steps, he crossed his arms and studied Larry the way his father had studied Lira the other day like a cat studying a trapped mouse.
.
"We found him lurking behind your property and we thought he was a suspect, we're the forest guards," Banner reported and brought out his fake ID.
Joshua approached slowly and circled Larry, studying the dirt, bruise and roughness of his clothes.
"What the hell were you doing out there?” He fired.
"I was passing through, I'm hungry and I couldn't help but scour for some fruits," Larry muttered slowly, and bowed slowly.
.
"I also needed work and I heard there's a vacancy for a hire in this mansion?"
"Nonsense, who told you that?"
"From the town folks"
Joshua raised an eyebrow at his answer.
"You know, someone like you wandering around private properties and looking for work might be a spy or someone sent here to check a place for robbery, or worse."
"No, I'm not a spy, I'm just a hungry villager in need of work."
Joshua nodded once to a guard beside him and he tightened his fist immediately and landed a punch into Larry's ribs that dropped him on his knees instantly.
“I'm not a spy …..” Larry gasped and wheezed out immediately, blood spluttering out of his mouth.
Another punch landed on his cheek and more blood came out.
He had ten years of intense training as a soldier and this is a mere scratch to him.
But he need not to show his strength, he needs to show that he was weak.
Renner clenched his fist in anger and felt like retaliating what was done to his boss, Cole also gritted his teeth immediately.
But Larry signaled to them to be calm, else the mission would be compromised.
“It doesn't matter who the heck you are , you're going to work for us, my father's garden needs a new hand and you're surely gonna fit in and know this if you drift, you're going to die.” Joshua said, crouching to Larry's level.
He adjusted himself and gestured to his guards.
“Take him to the holding cell for now, we'll sort him out properly tomorrow.”
The guards dragged Larry across the gravel through a side door across a narrow stairwell into a windowless room that stank of rust and death.
They threw him inside and slammed the door shut.
Larry could hear distant voices above him near the ceiling with faint light and voices from the courtyard.
Renner and Cole left without fuss, exactly as planned.
No one bothered to question them.
It has gone exactly as he wanted it.
Now he is in and he needs to plan on the next step ahead, but he needs to get out of this cell first.
He sat in the dark and his ribs arched him as he managed to press himself towards a small vent to have a good view of the courtyard.
What he saw almost took his breath.
He saw his sister Lira, kneeling on the stone courtyard floor, her hands were pressed flatly against the ground and her head was bowed.
Damon stood over her and raised his leg, his boot rested on her back and she was nothing more than a footstool for him.
He was laughing at something Joshua said behind him.
Larry tightened his grip in the dark and cursed.
