Stepping down the last step of the stairs Liann analysed the room, there wasn’t that annoying voice that greeted her every morning for the last two weeks—leaning against the front desk or the wall most times, a smirk on her face that being her attempt to look cool.
Liann however liked making Ivet suffer, it had been her way of utilising her and possibly a mode of fun. After experiencing that type of greeting for the past two days, she grew was tired of her comments.
It was either a ‘Did you miss me sweet heart?’, ‘How did you sleep doll face’ then Liann would walk over to Ivet then kick her in the shin—the next moment Ivet would be hoping on one foot in agony—it was pure satisfaction for her.
But last week it was different. She hadn’t said those absurd words just maybe her most absurd line of all that managed to obtain herself a noble reward—a punch in the gut— it had quite the same, body leaning against the wall while she smirked.
The moment Liann appeared she opened her big mouth. “Do you need a good morning kiss?”
Sure the words were that offensive to her but it was rather Ivet’s actions. She had finally detached herself from the wall at least for that she was thankful but then she walked up to Liann, confidentially at that, Liann didn’t step just glared.
And that’s when she started leaning in for a kiss—Liann then punched her.
Maybe after that she had finally learnt her lesson, it would be peaceful morning for Liann after all. For once she smiled when her eyes hadn’t caught Ivet so early in the morning trying her tactics and it might have gotten a lot better.
Liann gasped her hat in hand over her mouth shocked as her feet took a step back, in shock stared at Ivet actually working—she had been placing the books back in place and correctly arranging at that in eight in the morning on a Monday.
Instead of sleeping in like she usually did, locking her door because Liann would drag her out at seven or ten—either time was too early to her—it felt like a punishment.
But she had actually been working and seemed to be doing a good job and enjoying it? There wasn’t a crease on her forehead nor a frown on her face like other days—surprising.
Liann just stood there at first it was just out of shock she would snap out of it then causally walk out but not this time, she caught herself staring at Ivet—she seemed interesting.
It might have been the way her stood on the tip of her toes to give her a bit more height to easily reach the books on the last shelf—or maybe how graceful she looked flipping through the books she found interesting—or it was just her habit now a days.
She would find herself just staring at her, watching each move—running her fingers through her shoulder length hair, dozing off in the middle of work or when she laughed—she had never stayed with a human so basic yet interesting.
She really hated herself for easily getting distracted with the mere presence of Ivet. It had to be something—was it her hair? Her dark brown eyes? Or her lovely dimpled smiled each time she laughed?
“Morning Liann! Are you going out?”
Breaking her trance she stared at the girl with a blanket expression yet heart skipped a beat once she caught her smile—Ivet had a book in her right hand her index finger between two pages of the book, her smile was bright.
Ivet turned her gaze to the closing door, feeling rather down by Liann ignoring her the once happy smile just turned into a frown.
“Well that’s rude.”
§
Liann was usually back before six in the evening but today she had returned at around three in the afternoon after she stormed out the store earlier, she still hadn’t apologized or spoken to Ivet—not that she wanted her to but it was have nice.
And of course the right thing to do.
For the past ten minutes since Liann was back Over hadn’t stopped staring at her and Liann hadn’t glared back or acknowledged her presence—she was standing right in front of her.
Though she didn’t mind the staring she had sort of figured out she liked Liann after two weeks of staying here—it was unexpected how she figured out, sure she liked annoying Liann but that day she hadn’t actually.
She was working per usual and Liann was monitoring her—not really just seated and busy with the books returned—Ivet took her gaze off the stacks of books ‘accidentally’ fell on Liann. She was focused on a book checking it for damages while she hummed a song, Ivet assumed.
She looked beautiful with her hair freely resting past her shoulder occasionally she would push a strand of her hair behind her ear, giving Ivet full exposure to her face and the more she stared she took in details of her features—she knew Liann was beautiful from the first time they met, stealing her purse.
She mistakenly giggled out loud causing Liann to look up at her and that exactly when it hit her staring into her eyes—she liked her.
It hadn’t be easy for her given Liann always shut her out whenever she tried speak to her, she had been staying with her for almost a month and all she knew was her name and that she had a crush on her.
Pathetic.
Ivet slammed both hands down on the desk loud enough to gain Lianns attention, she leaned forward and Liann leaned back against the chair.
“You are ignoring me.” Ivet stated her eyes fixed on Liann’s, the woman just shrugged. She really had enough of her ignoring her it sort of hurt—why’s she lying, it hurt like a b***h. “At least speak to me?”
Still nothing just another shrug. Picking up on the book she left off Liann broke eye contact with her instantly Ivet pouted.
“Come on I miss your voice.”
Just like that Liann was back at staring at her even if it was questioning stare, she didn’t stop pouting.
Liann sighed, “Hello Ivet.”
Ivet smiled, “Hello Liann!” it was way cheerful than Liann’s that’s for sure— for a few seconds Liann stared at her until Ivet saw her eyes flicker to her lips then back up, instantly after that she looked away.
Liann had attempted to going back to ignoring her and that was the plan but Ivet had still be staring at her, she was still trying to process what she saw— possibly her eyes were playing with her.
“Stop staring at me.” Liann mumbled her gaze on the book on her laps—was she blushing?
“Are you—”
“No!” she objected looking at her, her face was stoic but the red cheeks really have her off—she was blushing.
“Wait but your cheeks. Liann!” Ivet tried calling her back but the woman had already ran up the stairs in a blink of an eye.
