“You're going to have to take it easy for the next few days. Your ribs were badly broken and they will be sore." The doctor tells me as he finishes wrapping my ribs in a thick ace bandage. "Even rough you are slightly malnourished and a bit dehydrated, your wolf seems to be healing you just fine. I'd like to see you back here in a couple of days just to make sure there are no unforseen complications." the doctor says. I nod my head, "Ok doctor I will. I'm not sure where I'll be until then but, I'll try." I say to him." "As far as I know Malekai should be here any minute to take you to the training house and get you settled in over there for the time being." The doctor says and smiles at me. "Um Doc who is Malekai?" I ask him "I am." says a tall dude with brown hair who comes jogging into the room. He extends his hand to shake. "Sorry I'm a little late. We have a semi-private room for you to stay in while your here, if you would like to get out of the hospital." Malekai says. "I really would. No offense doc." I say to. the doctor half smiling. "Let's get going then." Malekai says gesturing to the door. When we get outside I stop for a moment and breathe in the fresh air. It's a warm day, and there's a breeze blowing through the trees. It's the first day in weeks I have not been afraid for my life. I follow after Malekai taking in the scenery. It's really nice here. The redwood trees seem to cast long cool shadows against the hot sun, and the air seems so fresh. I am greatful the Alpha here is a generous one, or else my fate could have been as bad as it was in the place I ran from. As we walk to the training house Malekai strikes up a conversation, trying his best not to be insensitive when asking about my family. I can tell he feels a deep hate for the Alpha who killed my father. Through gritted teeth Malekai says how much better a place the world would be if Alpha Burniston happend to be ripped apart. I'm beginning to like this Beta, we agree on a lot of things. As we get to the training house a few of the guys are outside and greet us warmly. "Hey Malekai how's it going?!" Says Brick, the unofficial leader of the training house. "Doing good, thanks for asking. Thought I'd drop off Flint here, maybe help him get settled. Flint this is Brick. Brick is basically in charge of the training house and our oldest Omega. Brick this is Flint, our soon to be newest member." Malekai says. "We can get him settled in Malekai. It's all good." Jason one of the younger Omegas says. Malekai nods his head. "Okay then.If you guys are good, I'll leave you to it. Flint, I'll come by tomorrow and see how your settling in." He says and waves as he walks off, back toward the way we came from. I turn toward Brick, and he smiles and says, "Well, I better show you to your room. For now you'll be bunking alone, in one of the empty recovery rooms. Once you're completely healed and get to know everyone, you can move into a room with an empty bunk if you want, or not it's up too you. Everyone here gets along pretty good, we've been lucky." Brick tells me as we walk up the front steps of the training house. We walk through the front door, into an empty front room. I take a quick look around as I follow Brick up the stairs to the second floor. There's a huge sectional couch against the far wall. A big TV and entertaining center, with at least three different gaming systems, and a stereo. "Nice setup." I say to him "Oh yeah, It was a gift for all of us from the Alpha. We don't get to spend a lot of time in here but when we do, we get some pretty good games going." Brick says. "Your Alpha seems like a pretty good guy." I say to him. "He is, so are Beta Malekai and Gamma Jackson. I don't know of any other pack that treats their Omegas as good as we are. We're treated with respect here, and in return we protect this pack with our lives." I nod at him and say, "You're Omegas? All of you? And you're all warriors? That's amazing." I say trying not to sound so surprised. "Yes, and most of us came from much worse. Some of the younger guys still won't talk about what happend to them before they got here." Brick says. "Yeah I don't blame them. It was hard for me to talk to your Alpha about what happened to me. It's just one of those things that I don't want to remember, but I can never really forget." I tell him. When we get to the end of the hall Brick pushes open a door labeled recovery room . "Well, here is your room. There are fresh sheets and blankets, and extra pillows. We put some clothes in the dresser for you, and Mrs. Leoni will be sending along some new stuff tomorrow." Brick says. "Uh, who is Mrs. Leoni?" I ask him curiously. "Beta Malekai’s mom. She is in charge of the kitchen and Helps Alpha Alexander's mother run supplies for both the training house, and the pack house. You will meet her at dinner. So, um do you have any questions?" Brick asks me. I nod at him "Yeah actually, I would love a shower. You think you can point me in the direction of the bathroom?" I ask him. "My bad man sorry. You can find the shower in the bathroom at the end of the hall. Dinner is in a couple hours. The guys will be back before then and you can meet them before we head to the main house to eat." Brick says. I nod at him. "Thanks a lot Brick." I say to him sincerely. "No problem, come find me downstairs when you're done." Brick says and heads back the way we came. I walk into my room and close the door behind me. I sigh loudly and sit down on the edge of the bed. I look around the room for a few seconds. I stare out the window for a second. What am I suppose to do now? Their Alpha is a seems to be a good wolf, the pack as well. I'm greatful but a week ago I was on my own pack territory, with a father, mother and sister. Now I have nothing. I will never see my family again, and I can't go home. Burniston left his goons in charge of my lands. I know they burnt my home to the ground, and we're pillaging whatever they could find that is worth anything. I put my head in my hands and begin to cry. I cry for my mother and sister, who I could not save. I cry for my father who's place I can never take and face I will never see again. I feel so alone. I had been crying for a while, as an hour and a half had zipped by and it had only felt like minutes. There is a knock at the door, and Brick calls out to me. "Hey Flint. Uh, me and the guys are gonna head over to the packhouse for dinner. You wanna join us?" He asks me. I'm starving but in no mood to join other people for anything right now. I lift my head and wipe my face. "Thanks, but I think I'm just gonna stay and rest. I'm really tired. Is that cool?" I say to him trying not to sound like I had been crying. "Yeah man no problem. Well be back after dinner. We usually train for an hour or so afterwards. Maybe we'll see you later, Okay?" Brick says. "Yeah thanks." I say, sitting quietly listening to him walk away from my door and down the hall. I sit quietly for a minute and try to calm myself, with no luck. All I keep thinking about are the things Burniston and his rogues probably did to my mother and my little sister. My father was a good Alpha he deserved better. Why wasn't I strong enough to stop them. This time when I begin to cry, I sob loudly, tears streaming down my face. My shoulders shake and I nearly start choking on my sobs. After some time, I'm not sure how long, there is another knock at the door. I open my eyes and realize how dark the room has become. A soft older female voice calls to me. "Um hello? My dear I am Mrs. Leoni.I hope the boys told you I would be stopping by. I have brought some things for you. May I come in?" Mrs. Leoni asks me. I wipe my face hard. I clear my throat and stand up, walking over to the door and flipping on the light on. I take a deep breath and open the door. Malekai’s mother Mrs. Leoni is standing in the hall, with a small pile of clothes and a plastic container. She has a smile on her face until she sees me. "Oh my dear!" She says setting the things in her arms on the floor and taking a step towards me with her arms out. Confused I take a step back. She frowns bit isn't deterred. As soon as she wraps her arms around me I lose it. I begin to sob again like a small child. Mrs Leoni guides me over to my bed and we sit. "I'm never going to see them again. No matter what I do I'm alone." I cry to her. Mrs. Leoni sighs and says to me "Oh my boy, I am so sorry. I knew your parents. They were good people." Mrs Leonii says softly. Wait, what? Mrs. Leoni knew my parents, how is that even possible? Confused I pull away from her and look at her for a minute and wipe my face. "I knew your grandparents too. Truth be told I always thought that your father was a better Alpha. He was a kinder man than your grandfather." "How did you know my family?" I ask her sniffling. "Everyone comes from somewhere my dear. Silver Moon used to me my pack. I was part of them until my twenty eighth birthday.Your grandfather had organized a gathering of the packs hoping that older members may find their fated mates. Some did, including me. Your father was ten years old when I left to come here." Mrs Leoni said. I smiled for a moment trying to imagine what my father was like at ten years old. My father always told me stories about his childhood but I had never heard anyone else talk about it from their perspective. "Over the years I visited my parents often, so I saw your father grow into the strong Alpha he became. I was at your father's Alpha ceremony. Even I was proud. Everyone knew he would be an amazing leader." Mrs. Leoni looks sad for a moment. She sighs deeply. She looks at me and touches the side of my face. "Flint, you are not alone. Especially here. The boys who live in this training house have all been through more pain and horror in their short lives than any of us can know. You included. I know it will take you time to heal, but I wanted you to know you're never alone here, not if you don't want to be." Mrs Leoni says. I nod my head at her, realizing how tired I am all of a sudden. "Maybe you could tell me more about my father sometime." I say to her "Of course my dear. I spend most of my time in the kitchen, come and see me anytime. I might even have a funny story or two to share with you. For now however I think you need to rest my dear." Mrs Leoni said standing up. She walked into the hall to retrieve her plastic container and the pile of clothing. She quickly put away my clothes and then handed me the container. I open it slowly and nearly began to cry again at the site of a few slices of pizza. Mrs. Leoni just became my new favorite person. "You missed dinner. Brick and the boys were worried about you. So they asked if I could help. I always have something good stashed in the fridges and I think you will sleep a bit better on a full stomach my dear." Mrs Leoni says and smiles. "I'd stay longer but I need to get back to the house my dear. I hope to see you at breakfast tomorrow morning." says Mrs. Leoni as she walks towards the door. "You will." I say and offer her a small smile. "Good. Try and get some sleep. Goodnight Flint." She says and pulls my door closed behind her. I quickly devour the pizza, and pull out some clothes intending to take a shower. However after a few minutes of laying back on the bed with a full stomach I am quickly overtaken by sleep.
