15 Seraphine

Malekai and Alexander spend another few minutes teasing each other about being replaced by pups. Both Angie and I can't help but laugh at them, I like watching them interact. They are more like brothers than An Alpha and a Beta. Their relationship goes far beyond their titles, and I've only just begun to glimpse it, but I hope that this is how it will always be. It feels so much like a real family. My family. My sisters were right to send me here, I can't imagine a time or place where I could have been happier. I feel like life with Alexander can only get better the longer we're together. "You know Malekai I've really only been here for a couple of days, and I've technically only been Luna for half that time. You might need to give me just a little more time before I start popping out little Alphas." I say to Malekai sarcastically. Angie starts laughing. "Thats a horrible mental picture, popping out little Alphas!" She says genuinely amused. "Okay you guys no one popping anything out of any where, I swear only moment ago we were talking about Angie. Can't we talk som more about that or can we please move on to a different subject?" I say raising my eyebrows. "Okay so at some point week after next I'm gonna start to blow up like a balloon. Maybe you can be my shopping buddy and come with me to pick out some maternity clothes?" Angie asks as she munches on a piece of toast. "Actually that sounds like fun. I've actually never been shopping before." I tell her. "That can't be true! Well we're not gonna wait that long then. We're going to have Malekai take us into town this weekend and at least look around in some of the shops! We've got some great places around here. No bestie of mine is going to be unfamiliar with the art of shopping!" Angie says seriously. I start laughing, "I didn't know you could consider shopping for anything art." I say to Angie seriously. "Oh my Goddess! I have so many things to show you Seraphine!" Angie shouts. "I thought we were going to be taking it easy this weekend Ang?" Malakai asks her. "I will take it easy, I promise, and if anything happens, you will be there with us anyway." Angie says gently. "Please Malakai?" I'll promise I will take it easy. Pleeeease?" She asks him begging. "Okay, I'll take you. But I'm serious Ang, I want it to be a chill day." Malekai says seriously. "Yay! The first place we are going to visit is the jewelry store! I think you will love it!" Angie says smiling widely. "Oh and I hate to burst your bubble my Luna but most of the stores we are going into require us to be wear shoes." She says and giggles. Before I can say anything Alexander's eyes glaze over for a moment and his body stiffens, and I can tell something is wrong. He slowly gets up from his stool at the kitchen counter. “Malekai!” Alexander yells without looking in his direction. “Yep, I'm on it boss!” Malekai yells back to him and they both start moving quickly towards the door. "Alexander wait! What's going on?!" I say loudly as they move towards the door. Alexander turns and opens his mouth to answer me but before he can say a word, four teenage boys come tearing into the kitchen, screaming to him. “ALPHA! IT'S DRAKE BURNISTON AND THERE ARE AT LEAST FORTY MEN WITH HIM!" "I just linked Jackson, he and Brick took the other warrors out to try and stop Burnistons advance!" Malekai says quickly. "I have had enough of the uninvited trespassing on our land! Now this poor excuse for an Alpha wants to break the treaty and wander into our territory and do as he likes! After all the times we could have gone after him and didn't. I think not, this ends now!" Alexander says to a nodding Malekai. Malekai pulls Angie into a quick hug, "Please stay with Seraphine, I need you to stay out of the fighting and your Luna needs you right now. I love you both." Malekai says gently touching Angie's stomach. Alexander looks at me then at Angie, and says quickly, "Seraphine I need you to get to the hospital, take Angie with you. Remember you are the Luna. Help the others. There is a bomb style shelter there, and Dr. Baldwin knows what to do. He will explain everything. Angie will help you. Please do as I ask my love, and please be careful.” He kisses me quickly and he, and Malekai join the boys, running quickly out of the house. A little afraid, I sigh and try to settle my emotions. This is my job now. My mate is an Alpha, things like this are bound to happen, but alao as the Luna and I have to be strong for this pack, as well as myself. I am their other leader. I have to back up my mate and keep everyone as safe as I can. Letting my emotions get the best of me is not an option. I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Come on bestie." I say to Angie, grabbing her hand as she takes one final piece of sausage from our breakfast plates and shoves it into her mouth. “Let's get you to the hospital.” I say smiling at her. "Yeah, yeah, I'm coming. Why did they have to start a fight at breakfast time? Now my food is gonna go to waste. Stupid uncivilized trespassing mutts." Angie says sticking out her bottom lip and pouting. We quickly rush out of the pack house and move quickly across the lawn helping people as best we can along the way. Since I haven't had much time to get familiar with the pack yet, I hadn't realized before how many children were part of our pack. When we get to the hospital, I follow Angie through the corridor, past the nurses station, and down the long hall to a twelve inch thick solid concrete door. When we get inside I am stunned at just how many people this shelter can actually house. When Doctor Baldwin sees me, he immediately shuffles over to start explaining the procedures to me, while people continue to flood in. A few minutes go by and I notice Angie has disappeared. After another minute or two go by, I start to seriously wonder where she could have gone to. I ask Dr. Baldwin to give me a minute and I walk out into the hall and come back. Nope she's nowhere to be seen. “Does anybody know where Angie went?” I ask loudly, hoping someone has eyes on her, and I'm just to short to see her in the crowd. Everybody is just sort of shrugging, and looking at one another when an adorable little girl, who can be no older than four, tugs on my shirt, and says, “Um, Hi Luna. I'm Nia." She waves her tiny little hand at me and then sticks it out to shake. I smile at her, I can't help it she is adorable, and I shake her little hand, as she continues, "Um Angie left to go back and get Mrs. Leoni.” When she says it, it sounds like LEE-OH-NEE. My heart nearly jumps out of my chest. Damn it Angie. We were suppose to stay together until this is over. I know she'll probably be alright but I have to make sure. I won't be able to live with myself if something happens to her. Especially now that I know she is pregnant. "Thank you very much Nia for your help, and you can call me Seraphine." I say quietly to her. She giggles happily, nodding her head. I don't have a lot of time to come up with a plan. In fact Dr. Baldwin is getting ready to shut and lock down the door as everyone besides Angie and Mrs. Leoni are here where they're supposed to be. Partly on impulse, and partly due to fear for my bestie, I turn and run, slipping thru the door and out into the hall telling Dr. Baldwin to lock down the door behind me. He protests loudly, "Luna you shouldn't leave!" He shouts at me, but I am out past the door and running before he can finish his sentence. "I know you're probably right, but I'm Sorry Doc, I have to find Angie!" I yell to him as I run down the corridor and through the doors back outside.
