Chapter 14

Emma’s point of view 2 Emma has never seen him with such an expression before. Even when they first met, or most specifically, the second time they met, his expression wasn’t that scary. It brings shivers to her. They stand apart, on each side of the car windows. The seats are comfortable but she finds them too cold. She gulps. A phone then rings, her phone. He hasn’t glanced at her since she got inside the car, not even know. Her phone sits on her lap and she picks it up answering the call. “H-Hell” she coughs “Hello?” She answers clearer this time. “You haven’t called in days. How is the trip going?” She feels more relaxed hearing the voice of her old friend. “Jerry, glad you hear your voice” she passes her hand around her hair and bows slightly. She glances to see the iceberg looking at her with cold eyes. She looks quickly away, pressing herself more to the window side. “It’s going well. I went shopping today” she lowers her voice What did you buy me?” “I didn’t buy you anything” “Shitty friend” her eyes widen ready to curse at him “You” “Laura called. She said to unblock her, she wants to talk to you” “Since when did you become her puppet?” “I’m just saying what she said. Bring me something when you come back” “Bye” she hangs up first. She puts her phone down, glancing out of the window. She sighs and goes to open her phone, “Where were you?” She jumps on her seat, not expecting him to talk at her. They are still on their way to his home. “A little girl got lost. I was bringing her home, I didn’t know it was this far” she replies while looking on her phone. She searches Laura’s number. She can feel his heavy stare. She turns around to him. She sees his body tensed up. “I’m not lying” “I didn’t say you were” she keeps quiet for many seconds. She leans towards his ear and watching his expressionless face. “You know, there is a pack where the little girl was from. You said you haven’t met any of them, so I thought of bringing you there” “I don’t need to” they reach home. He opens the door and gets out like an angry child. ‘I was trying to be nice, stupid’ she rolls her eyes. She unlocks her phone once more, dialing Laura’s number. “Emma” “Laura” her old friend keeps quiet on the other side. Emma gets out of the car. She doesn’t get inside but walks far away from peoples eyes, to the backyard. “What’s wrong?” She asks with her voice lowered and her eyebrows furrowed. “Have you heard? They are attaching packs now.” She glances at the house “Who?” “Rogues.” “Oh, so that kind exists to” she chuckles “Emma, they are killing every member” they both keep quieted, Emma trying to figure out words “Their ways are, truly familiar” “Familiar as?” “1860” but that number isn’t a year. It’s a cell number. “Parallel worlds. What more to expect” Emma walks into the forest but doesn’t get deeper. She leans on a tree. “Where?” “Many places. The closest pack you can get may have more informations.” Emma thinks back to the three dead bodies and then to the pack she took the little girl. “I got it.” “Okay” Emma glances around the house windows for a sign of him. “Emma?” “All you do is call my name” in the other like she hears a chuckle “I just like the sound of it” “Bullshit. Also, since when you know so much about those people” “Werewolves? I should keep a close watch to them since you don’t do it.” “They don’t need me” “The hell they don’t. They are people with souls after all” She sees him walking pass his bedroom window. “I will call you later” “Huh? Hey, I haven’t asked yet. How are things going?” “Good. Bye now” “Tsk” she hears her clicking her tongue. She hangs up first before Emma does. “Hm” she walks inside the house, to the bedroom. She knocks first “Andrew?” She call out. When she doesn’t get an answer after a while, she opens the door putting her head first to glance around. She walks in and closes the door. Andrew walks out of his closet with his pajamas on. “Andrew, are you okay?” Many sentences pass through her head but she ends up saying that one. He nods with a cold face. “Okay, umm” she glances at him and with his expression from earlier and now she thinks she realizes something. “Where you worried I would leave?” “No.” The one word comes to her like a cold shower “Oh”. He walks to the bed and gets under the covers. Emma sees him picking his glasses up and then the book. He flips the pages and stops to the bookmark. At least he didn’t leave to his study. It would had been uncomfortable to sleep at. Emma breaths deep in and out. She then walks to the bathroom. She takes her clothes off after closing the door. She doesn’t know what to think. A big cold baby that is mad at her or the packs that are getting killed by rogues. Life is hard for a human. She steps inside the shower. Two troubles and it became stop much when having to deal with both. She opens the shower and hot water runs down to her. Suddenly she furrows her eyebrows. If they attached those three people on the street, they may also know which pack they are from. That means that little girl, her whole pack, can be in danger. She finishes her shower and steps out. She grabs a bathrobe and looks at the clothes she wore before. She forgot to take clean clothes. ‘s**t’ this day she feels that went through with her cursing small. “Andrew?” She softly whispers out, her hair are still dripping wet. She closes the bathroom door once more, while still inside, and takes a towel to dry as much as she can her hair. She opens the door silently and glances at him. He is under the covers, he must be sleeping. Emma wonders how long she took at the shower. She steps with silent steps to the closet. She picks her clothes, dropping the bathrobe, and wears them. She feels a stare but she doesn’t look thinking it’s her imagination only, ‘Andrew is still sleeping, right?’ She walks out of the closet and get inside the covers of the bed with slow movements. Soon her eyes began to fall, she feels an arm on her waist pulling her closer but she is already drifted to sleep.
