Chapter 1 - Situation Quo.
On a green yard, filled with various beautiful plants, an African-American young man knelt on the ground.
One of his hands held the ground, propping himself.
The other hand held a hand fork. The handsome young man who seemed to be around 20 years old was tilling. He was forming a small bed to plant some vegetation.
Behind him was a small two-story house surrounded by shrubs, climbers, and other vegetation. Some climbers seemed to get into the house through windows.
The walls of the house could barely be seen since most of them were covered with climbers and other plants.
The crowd of beautiful green plants which created an eye-catching and pleasant scenery rescued the house from being acknowledged as a shabby house.
Instead, it looked like a house in the garden of Eden.
A glance at the house and its surroundings were enough to tell that the owner of the house attached great importance to plants and put much effort into taking care of them.
The handsome African-American young man looked around 20 years old. He looked serene and was focused on gardening, precisely, tilling the land.
Almost black soil stuck to his knees. But he didn't seem to care at all.
The young man didn't wear any garden clothing. He wore a black beanie hat, a black leather jacket, and grey pants.
"All you know is gardening. Will that plants feed your family? Hah! Emma really had bad luck"
All of the sudden, a deep voice spread throughout the area.
When the African-American young man heard this, he looked fazed and his face darkened as he wandered his eyes to see the owner of the voice.
His gaze successfully met a tall figure of a blonde-haired young man. The blonde young man had an evil and envious grin on his face. He stood just before the boundaries of the green yard.
The distance between the blonde young man and an African-American young man was about 100 feet. Thus, they had to yell at each other in order to get each other.
"Kyle, it seems like you'll never understand what true love is. True love doesn't concern one's status. A prince can marry a servant. True love is what brought us together."
The young man said in a sorrowful tone and sounded poignant.
Kyle couldn't help chuckling. He took some steps forward and entered the grass-covered ground.
"Haha, Peter, I never knew you were aware that you're not different from a servant. Haha"
Kyle's words carried intense ridicule that struck a sour note within Peter.
Kyle just called him a servant.
However, he was smart enough to contain his anger and not fell out with Kyle. Kyle had ill intentions. All he wanted was to insult Peter and cause trouble.
Kyle had been crushing on Emma, Peter's wife. He courted her countless times but all in vain. He couldn't believe that that beautiful and difficult-to-convince woman ended up in hands of a black young man. Worst still, Peter was considered a penniless man and a good-for-nothing.
Peter spent most of his time, gardening solely. He used to be a lonely quiet man. No one had a clue what he did for a living. After all, he managed to buy a house, pay all bills every month as well as eating every day.
He had never been poor enough to beg for food. But he rarely moved away from his humble abode.
