The sky began to pour as if it was crying for the man. He opened his eyes and raised his head to see a glint in the distance. He focused hard on the glint, and then his heart soared. Nash was proned with a rifle he was saved. "Thank you, buddy." He whispered under his breath. Suddenly, the roped began to tighten around his neck sucking the air from his lungs. A loud bang echoed across the town, snapping the rope as a bullet flew through it, destroying it as it connected. Quickly, the man used the knife the child had given him a few seconds ago, slicing through the ropes that bound his hands like butter. He fell to the ground hard as the rumble of a storm moved in. "Thank you, god." The man said, reaching his feet. as worshipers began to crowd him. Another loud bang as a follower of death crumbled. "Sniper!" Death shouted fleeing from the pedestal. Ducking and dodging every bullet that flew towards her. The man's eyes narrowed as he set his sights on Death. "Run now!" a tiny voice told him as if it knew his intentions were to attempt to kill her once again, but without hesitation, he started running towards the gun fire. "Please protect me." He repeated over and over. Soon, he reached the edge of town, the ringing of bullets had decreased. "Good job." The man turned pale, turning on his heels, quickly pulling the knife close to him. As a shadow figure grabbed him, knocking him off his feet. Only feature he could make out was the figures eyes. Their blue eyes deep as a ocean, he could tell even with the figure holding him down they weren't going to kill him for some reason he felt at ease. Something about them said they didn't mean him no harm. Then the unexpected happen "Hey you said yall wouldn't harm him!" John bellowed riding up to them with Nash by his side. "And you would be correct." The figure said, lifting the man to his feet. "Death got away." The figure said before stepping away "Now she knows your after her she won't make it easy for you." They said as the wind picked up. "Wait who are you?" The man asked them as they began to fade away. "I am just a person looking for redemption like the rest." They echoed in the wind vanishing as the wind slowed down.
