Chapter 12 - Melody

I don’t know what had come over Ace. One moment he was standing by my side looking around my room and the next moment I was on the bed being kissed so passionately that it was difficult to catch my breath. Once we were both completely breathless he broke away and started softly kissing his way along my jaw until he reached my ear.

“You have no idea how much I have been looking forward to this mate.”

There was something wrong with the way that Ace’s voice sounded. At first I shrugged it off as a sign of his arousal but the more I thought about it the more unsure I became. There had been a gruff edge to his voice that I don’t remember him ever having before and as far as I remember he had never simply referred to me as ‘mate’ before.

“What’s wrong precious mate?”

“I was about to ask you the same question. You’re acting a little strange Ace and it is starting to scare me.” I replied while scowling at him.

“Don’t worry sweet human, I am Ace’s wolf.” He told me before licking my neck and nibbling on my ear. I felt as though he was doing it in an attempt to keep my calm but it wasn’t working. If anything his words were only making me more confused and anxious.

“Why am I talking to Ace’s wolf, is there something wrong with him?”

“Only that he is an i***t for not worshipping you from the moment he first laid eyes upon you. It is OK though, I am here now and I fully intend on making up for his shortcomings.”

My voice caught in my throat. When Ace and Palmer explained all of this wolf stuff to me they made it all sound so safe and innocent. I had been comforted by their reassurances but that was when were in a crowded restaurant. It was a completely different story now that I was pinned down by Ace’s wolf while his teeth were so close to my neck. I felt like a fool. How could I ever be safe with such a dangerous predator?

A whimper left my mouth before I could do anything to stop it. Ace’s wolf looked confused for a moment before rolling onto his back and pulling me on top of him. He held me close pushing my face into his neck while stroking me at the base of my spine.

“You don’t need to be scared, I would never do anything to hurt you. All I ever wanted to do was love you.”

A low purring sound started emanating from his chest while he ran his hands down my side and under my top. I wasn’t sure if it was the purr or the way that Ace’s wolf was touching me, but I wasn’t anxious around him any more. Even though it was probably irrational most of that anxiety had been replaced with overwhelming desire, not that I was going to let him know that.

“What are you doing?”

“My mate is unhappy and I know the perfect way to make her happy again.” He pulled me closer so that he could run his teeth over the sensitive skin at the side of my neck causing me to shiver with desire.

“What would that be?” I had some idea what he was planning and I wasn’t quite sure I was ready to go there with him. Even knowing that Ace and his wolf were like two sides of the same coin, it made me feel a little uncomfortable to know that Ace wouldn’t be in charge.

“I’m going to lick every inch of your skin so that everyone who goes anywhere near you knows who you belong to.”

“You can’t do that, it’s weird.”

“Is it? Then why did my words arouse you so much?”

He didn’t wait for my reply. Instead, he started to complete the task he had set for himself. He held me close and licked his way slowly down my neck and over my shoulder. “I didn’t say that I agreed with your plan yet.” I objected.
