Chapter 13 - Ace

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicately my wolf treated Melody. Given how possessive he was over her I was worried that he was going to come on too strongly and scare her. However, after a few minutes of my wolf being in control, it became clear that I didn’t need to worry.

My wolf made sure to pleasure my mate over and over again before he even started to think about his own pleasure. He even took the time to hold her and tell her how amazing she was once they were done. Maybe he was right when he told me he was much better at this than I was. It had been a long time since I had properly dated a woman, and even then I am sure she would have put up with anything I threw at her just so she could call herself the future Alpha’s girlfriend.

thinking back at how I acted made me want to strangle my past self. I had been so naive to assume that all those women were interested in me for who I was rather than what I could give them. It wasn’t as though any of that mattered any more though, I had Melody and we would spend our lives making each other happy.

“We should get back to our room,” I suggested. We had already been here most of the evening and I wanted to make sure that everything was prepared to let us leave first thing tomorrow morning. I was eager to get my mate back to my pack to introduce her to all my friends and family. They were all going to love her just as much as I did.

“Why are you so adamant that we go to your home town, are you that ashamed to be seen around campus with me?” Melody mumbled as she continued to fill a large suitcase with clothes. I wasn’t sure she wanted me to hear everything she said but I wasn’t going to let her get away with insulting herself like that.

“Of course not Luna, I want everyone to see us together. I can get onto the roof of the tallest building on campus and declare my love for you if that would make you feel better.”

“No, you don’t need to do anything like that.” Melody turned to face me again, she was blushing heavily and there was a panicked look in her eyes.

“Now who is ashamed of who?”

“That’s not true, I just don’t want you to get into trouble.”

Melody’s panic was increasing by the second. Her voice had gone high-pitched and she looked horrified at the thought of hurting me. It was really cute and it made me want to tease her more.

“If you want to keep me locked in your room as your personal s*x servant then I am OK with that.”

“What!?”

“I know you like it when I beg for your attention, I have seen it in your eyes. I am happy to live my life on my knees with a collar around my neck as long as you give me your love.” I told her while getting down on my knees in front of her. I had expected her to become even more flustered then tell me to get up and stop being silly, but that wasn’t what happened.

All of a sudden she was no longer panicking and she was now looking down on me with interest. There was a moment when I worried that I had bitten off more than I could chew before a smile spread across Melody’s face and she held her hand out towards me.

“That won’t be necessary, you only need to get on your knees when I tell you to.”

“Anything for you,” I replied while getting to my feet and pulling her into my arms. There was no hiding how much her words had affected me when my erection was pressing against her but that didn’t bother me. I wasn’t the kind of Alpha who had to always be in control, I was more than happy to let her control me in the bedroom from time to time if that was what she liked.

I continued to hold her for a few minutes longer before reluctantly letting go of her for long enough to let her finish packing. On the way back to our dorm room I told Melody about my home town. Now that she had come to terms with everything Palmer and I had told her about werewolves she didn’t seem so worried about the trip, she even sounded a little excited.

“I am sure my mom will insist on taking you to see the waterfall where our ancestors used to perform all the ceremonies,” I told Melody as we walked into my dormitory. Melody entered ahead of me so I couldn’t see her face but she did sound genuinely excited when she told me that she was looking forward to it. Hearing her this happy made me feel better than I had done in months, if not years. I was going to do whatever it took to make sure she remained this happy forever.

I was so distracted by my mate’s happiness that I didn’t notice the sound of movement within my room until it was too late. I swung open the door revealing a woman lying across my bed. I vaguely recognised her as a woman who I had slept with a couple of nights earlier although I couldn’t remember anything about her.

I could however tell that she was a werewolf by her scent. That means she should have been able to tell when we were being intimate that there was no connection between us. So why was she sneaking into the room of a man who wasn’t her mate?

Beside me, Melody had tensed up and that annoyed me more than anything this woman could do to me. Anger coursed through me, threatening to spill over. I needed to get this woman far away from me before I did something I would regret.

“What the f**k are you doing in my room?” I growled.

“One of my friends told me that you found your mate and she was not exactly Luna material. So, I thought I would come here and give you a better option.” She looked Melody up and down dismissively as she spoke. The gesture pissed me off so much that I had to hold onto Melody tighter to stop myself from lashing out.

“Your friends were wrong, I was blessed with a perfect mate and she is going to be an amazing Luna. Now I suggest you leave before I get my Beta to come in here and throw you out.”

“How dare you talk to me like that! Don’t you know who I am? I am the daughter of a very powerful Alpha, you would be lucky to have someone like me as your chosen mate.” She screamed, rising off my bed and taking a couple of steps towards me.

“I don’t give a s**t who you are or what rank your parents are. You will treat me and my Luna with respect or I will make sure you are punished to the full extent of the law.”

The woman screamed in frustration and pulled a knife out of her pocket. I knew instinctively that the thin blade was made of pure silver. I took a step forward to put myself between Melody and the dangerous weapon, but as I did so the woman stepped forward and lunged towards me, plunging the knife into my shoulder.

She looked as shocked as I did that she had stabbed me. I don’t think she had intended for things to go this way before she came here, but if that was the case then why did she bring a knife with her?

“You shouldn’t have got in my way, I didn’t plan to hurt you.”

“I’m not going to let you hurt my mate, I would rather die than let you touch her,” I growled.

“So be it.”

Before I could process her words, she was already coming at me with the knife again. I didn’t have any weapons to hand and the silver from the knife had suppressed my wolf so I did the only thing I could to defend myself. I picked up one of Melody’s suitcases and used it as a shield to deflect the woman’s attacks.

“I’ll get some help,” Melody shouted as she tried to slip past me and move towards the door. Upon noticing this the woman shifted her focus and threw the knife towards my mate, catching her in the leg and making her fall the the ground. This left the woman without a weapon and vulnerable to my attack, I lunged at her and pinned her down. Once she was under my control, I wrapped my hand hands around her neck and started to squeeze.

“Ace, don’t kill her,” Melody shouted over towards me. She had pulled herself up into a seated position, the pain was clear on her face but so was her compassion. I wasn’t sure if that compassion came from her human upbringing or was her Luna tendencies coming through, but either way, I liked it. She was going to be a wonderful Luna and mother to our children.

I held onto the woman’s neck for a few seconds longer until she passed out, and then I crawled over to check on my mate.
