Chapter 14 - Melody

Ace left the unconscious woman on the floor behind him and crawled across the floor towards me. He was bleeding profusely from his shoulder but it didn’t seem to bother him, he seemed more concerned about the place where my knife had grazed me on my calf. “We need to get you to a hospital,” Ace told me while carefully examining my wound. “I was just thinking the same thing about you. You are bleeding really heavily, that can’t be safe.” I tried to push him away so that I could look at his shoulder but he pushed my hands away and pulled me into his arms before getting to his feet. He carried me out of his room and down the stairs without listening to any of my protests. “What is going on? Why are you both bleeding?” Palmer shouted as he ran out of one of the rooms and into the hallways behind us. “We were attacked, the perpetrator is unconscious in my room,” Ace replied without even so much as glancing over his shoulder at his friend. It still didn’t feel right to allow Ace to carry me while his shoulder was bleeding but I had given up trying to argue with him or trying to free myself as it would only going to hurt him further. “Aren’t we going the wrong way? I thought the hospital was in town.” “It is, but I’m not taking you to the hospital. There is a hidden supernatural clinic at the edge of campus.” Ace kept carrying me until we reached the small unassuming building, not taking any notice of all the people who were staring at us. He pushed his way through the doors using his injured shoulder, smearing blood on the door and making me cringe. I didn’t get a chance to ask if he was in any pain though, as the moment we entered the clinic we were surrounded by people wanting to help us. They tried to take us both in separate directions to be treated but Ace wouldn’t accept that. He insisted on following me into my treatment room forcing the warlock who was trying to treat him to also follow us into my room and irritate the witches who were trying to treat me. They each cast a few spells on us before leaving us alone in the room while the spell took effect. The room that we were in wasn’t set up anything like a standard hospital room. There wasn’t a bed or any other kind of typical hospital equipment, only a large comfortable sofa and a TV. I wasn’t sure if that was because they could see that neither of us was too badly injured, or if all of the rooms looked like this. It wasn’t something that I would ever feel comfortable talking about to the witches but maybe I could ask Ace to tell me more about this place once we got out of here. After a few minutes of waiting Ace wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into his lap. He winced slightly as my body made contact with his wounded shoulder but he quickly covered his pain with a smile. “Stop doing this, I don’t want to hurt you.” I objected while trying to slip out of his embrace. “I’m already feeling much better, it is just a little sore. But if you want to make me feel better then you could always suck my cock.” “Why? Did she stab you there as well? Do I need to call the doctors back in here to check you out?” I teased. Ace’s arms tightened around me. “I’m not letting you go anywhere. I almost lost you and after that, I am not letting you leave my side.” He then slowly kissed his way up my neck while holding me against his growling erection. I was about to object when the sound of shouting in the hallway distracted me. “Where is my sister? What the f**k have you done to her you monsters?” “We haven’t done anything, she attacked my Alpha without any provocation. You are lucky he didn’t kill her given the way she acted.” The second voice was unmistakably that of Palmer. Ace noticed this at the same time as I did and quickly got to his feet while still holding me in his arms. When we made it out into the hallway we saw a woman who looked a lot like the woman who had attacked us, shouting at Palmer. “My sister would never do anything like that, you must be mistaken. Either that or you are lying so that you can justify hurting her,” she screamed. “There is no mistake. Your sister tried to kill my Luna and I am going to make sure that she is prosecuted accordingly.” Ace placed me on the floor but he made sure to keep one arm around me. “I don’t think that is necessary.” One of the doctors who had treated me had come into the hallway and was standing a few metres away looking apprehensive, as though she expected Ace to lose his temper and attack her. “What are you talking about?” Palmer growled. “A powerful witch had put a curse on her, she was supposed to kill both Ace and his mate. We have tried to remove the curse but it will be a few days before we can be sure we have succeeded.” Upon hearing this her sister burst into tears and leaned against the nearest wall. She tried to hide her tears from us but there wasn’t much she could do to hide the trails of makeup that her tears were making down her face. “We never should have come here, but Stacy was so adamant that she wanted to prove our father wrong. I should have convinced her that it wasn’t worth the risk, we have too many enemies near here.” “That is the strange thing, I don’t think it had anything to do with your sister or her pack. Your sister told me that she went to a witch for help finding her mate. She was careful, she went to a member of the Bracken coven as they have no history with her pack.” “s**t, I didn’t think the Bracken coven were allowed to operate this far north,” Palmer complained, looking a little guilty. “We don’t have a good history with the Bracken coven but I honestly believed that feud had died with my great grandparents. We still try to keep out of their way though, if we thought that they would be working in the area then we would have selected a different college to attend.” Ace clarified while looking even more guilty than Palmer did. “They haven’t got approval to work in this area. I have contacted my superiors and they are looking into the matter.” The doctor told us before helping Stacy’s sister to her feet and taking her down the corridor in the same direction she had appeared from. Once they had gone Ace turned to face me, he held me close and placed soft kisses on my hair. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Palmer rolling his eyes and walking away. “Maybe we should stay here after all,” I suggested. It was strange, I had been nervous about going back to his pack to meet his family and friends but now I was sad that we might not be able to go. Maybe that was just because I no longer felt completely safe here. “We can’t stay here. If there is a rogue witch on the campus, we are not safe. It is better if we leave till the witches complete their investigation. It won’t take them long and once they are done we can come back.” I nodded my head in agreement. He was trying to soothe me and although I was more than happy to do as he wished, I wanted to make the most of his desire to please me. “Fine, I will go with you on one condition. You have to lick my p***y until I come in your mouth at least once every day that we are gone.” Ace burst out laughing. “That’s not difficult considering I planned to do that anyway.” Shit, it looks as though I wasn’t setting the bar high enough. I should have asked for more. I would have to make a note of that for future reference.
